Bayonetta is always portrayed as having a very strong sense of self and has tons of great values and work ethic. She is a good person. Therefore I love how freely she expresses herself. I personally see her as a role model. I don't see her behavior as "fan service", I see a character that has fun doing what she does. Commendable. Anyone who has a problem with how she acts might be someone who doesn't care to understand her and that actually doesn't matter at all. Bayonetta is great.
@ValerioRhys4 жыл бұрын
The great thing is, Bayonetta keeps throwing sexual innuendos and gestures everywhere but nobody comments or encourages it or make any derogatory remarks, they actively brush it off, all her enemies are focused more on how much of a threat she is and Luka is too intimidated by her personality and being dangerous to try and make an actual move. She is doing all of these for herself and because she wants to, and that's what female empowerment is about. So I don't see why feminists see her as "fan service" since she's the one helping herself to the attention.
@jamaaldagreatest27482 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say she's a role model because human lives are really irrelevant to her (especially because they always get reincarnated) but she is an amazing character, and she's written how women in media should be written. She doesn't feel like less or insecure because she's a woman, and doesn't have to prove herself to anybody because of that. She's secure and confident in herself and I love that so much.

Bayonetta is great because she feels broken and overpowered and the game is balanced around the idea that the difficulty should be high enough to destroy someone completely OP. There is absolutely nothing about Bayonetta that feels restrained. Weapon switching in the middle of a combo, it's fucking incredible. You can imagine a combo in your head and it probably will work. Sword slash 4 times, kick with fireclaws, hold to drop a bomb, switch to whip and pull enemy right into your bomb, whip again to pull yourself and kick with ice skates into an ice cube to the ground, switch to sword, hold, release. Surprisingly, it's super easy. Everything is easy. She's so OP and it's great.
@moonmoon24795 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what you are talking about. As someone that has platinums in every chapter on both games, she feels clunky and slow. The difficulty seems to come from high damage numbers, not much else. Combos are right at the loading screen so making your own often doesn’t work in terms of the score system. OP is not the way I would describe her.
@DestinySpider4 жыл бұрын
@@moonmoon2479 There is nothibg that's clunky about Bayonetta really. The whole combat system is incredibly fluid
@moonmoon24794 жыл бұрын
destiny spider it’s difficult to describe. Maybe clunky isn’t the right word. Play the game properly, and it feels slow and awkward and never smooth and fun. Dodge offset, hold combos, and bring forced to use panther within to get any sort of speed. The combat system feels awkward I guess, only way I can describe it. It’s fluid, but when the rest of it is this weirdly done, it feels like the equivalent of bad pacing, except in individual encounters. Fluid doesn’t mean much when the system itself feels janky.
@Lin_Eileen4 жыл бұрын
@@moonmoon2479 I pretty much agree. It's so fast and frantic but the more you play the more you realize the game only wants you play in one specific way and it's too gimmicky and unfocused to be that rewarding unless you are playing on non stop infinite climax where you don't have to worry about witch time being inconsistent mechanic and enemies behaving in stupid ways like not attacking or doing anything for long periods of time. There's a ton of combos and weapons and techs, so there's lots of variety but eventually it wears thin partially because of the two weapon set limit, I get they didn't want to make things too complex but having the option there to use all the weapons at once would have been nice just as an option for the hardcore players I personally probably wouldn't use them all at once as well, it's just would provide so much more options even if you just were able to equip and fast swap one more weapon set, just having two to quick switch between is dated imo DMC3 did that in 2005, games outside the genre let you freely quick switch between an arsenal of about a dozen weapons (DOOM) it just feels so limited and basic now. You are technically able to equip 4 weapons/guns at once but it only ever feels like it's 2 because at any given time you have 2 equipped and they combine with each other to form combos, for me if I equip durga and onyx rose for example I don't feel like I have a weapon + shotgun it feels like I have a shotgun weapon, if that makes sense I don't like how you are pushed into using wicked weaves so liberally. They are not hard to do, you just have to memorize dial combos and if you don't learn to use them proactively with dodge offset you won't be rewarded by the game at all even if you are actually playing well and even using dodge offset if you aren't hitting those wicked weaves consistently you might as well be spamming stinger the whole time no matter what you're doing the game will give you stone ranks. When it first introduced the wicked weave it specifically says it's used as finisher in combos, I took that to mean as a way to end any entire combo string using a variety of moves, not as the universal finisher to a ton of different set dial combos Idk this is all really nitpicky honestly, I think the game is good and considering it came out in 2009, it's only like 4 years after DMC3 and 2 after DMC4, so a lot of the limiting aspects of the design can be forgiven and understood, the game was probably in development before DMC4 came out and expanded quick switching even more from DMC3
@Lin_Eileen4 жыл бұрын
@@moonmoon2479 It's like I really appreciate how Platinum tried to create a system that punishes mindless button mashing, but I think they went too far with it to the point of punishing things that actually take skill. Ranking systems in action games generally have the problem of this, of being too strict with that they consider stylish, but Bayonetta really takes it to a whole new extreme. Imagine if when playing as Nero in DMC using anything except buster attacks for extended periods results in losing style. style rating doesn't really matter in DMC but it effects how people perceive the game, if that was how they rated your Nero it would be way too limiting and make you only want to use the buster if you care about style on the games terms. wicked weaves are not as separated from the rest of the kit as busters for better or worse, so it doesn't feel quite like that example I gave but it's a similar feeling. I think the system goes so far it de incentivizes learning how the weapons and guns behave on a micro level for simple but controlled and effective techs, like gun raves in DMC for example that's something some people might see as button mash because you are just pressing three buttons repeatedly in sequence but it's controlled and precise and serves a purpose, it's a simple technique kinda removed from the intended play using the combos that combines moves and abilities to form a new ability of it's own, this is why I don't like Bayonetta as much as DMC. Bayo doesn't encourage you to experiment with cancelability of moves and uses of moves in the micro-level of the game, things that could make just a slight difference in a combo but still matters. It feels like those parts of Bayo are kinda gutted even, shooting the guns with X just feels completely useless when you can extend any attack with guns

For the MOST PART agreed, but honestly that comparison can fuck right off. Some fanservice is awkward? Granted. But 12 year olds? Anime and other ecchi/romantic-comedy Japanese media have high school settings most often. Don't strawman and make people out to be pedos. Hold ZR and press Select to skip cutscenes without a confirmation. If you want to redo only a single "Verse", quit to the title menu before the end of that verse and then use the Continue button to play from the latest checkpoint. Using attacks that aren't Wicked Weaves too often will result in them getting stale, and will reward fewer Combo points. To ensure your moves don't become stale, you MUST do a Wicked Weave attack every handful of punches and kicks. Don't be afraid to abuse Breakdance a lot. The move lasts a while and can rack up combo points in between Wicked Weaves, not to mention it is the primary weakness of almost all flying enemies (especially the Inspired) The Moon of Maha-Kalaa is very, VERY spammable. Just repeatedly, rapidly flick the control stick towards an enemy who's about to attack and you WILL get the parry. You'll also probably use a dash attack repeatedly by happenstance of flicking the analog stick repeatedly, so throw in a tetsuzanko/heel stomp every so often to avoid stale moves.

For a beginner, you shouldn't buy healing items, you should prioritise buying witch hearts that increase your max health first. Also, concocting healing items (and shield/attack items) using the crafting menu is better than buying them since (1. they don't cost halos; 2. you can make more than you can buy from Rodin). Don't underestimate the shield items, the damage they can negate easily exceeds the healing you get from the healing items. Couple them with the attack items for a temporary boost to facetank whatever monster/boss you are tired of losing to. Only use items for the first run on any difficulty (to unlock stuff, and just complete the game in general). After that, you should be trying to redo them without items (lollipops).
@cekan143 жыл бұрын
Purchasing movements first is good advice, although I really do not recommend spending money in items, such as healing ones. After all, the game always penalizes for using them, and are not really that worthy, considering the amount of health you receive. Instead, always break every destructible elements within the game, and you'll have enough to create healing items on your own.

I can clarify that. I have played and beaten this game various times and there were times where my timing was off and I died because I would press the button too early. There's also that one part in the holy grounds level where that damn angel serpent eats you if you don't jump in the right direction but you can't see where the fuck you're going cuz of a dust cloud from the platform your on breaking apart...ugh I hate that part so much.

Doesn't matter how old something is, when it's genuine good quality...it ages like fine wine. I just got Bay1 physical for the Switch, never played on 360 when it released. Needless to say I enjoyed your video as I count down the minutes left on my shift.

Guys, if you wanna be good at this game, its not that hard. Instead of pushing buttons at max speed to end combos, hold them so bayo fires her guns and stuns enemies. That and learning "dodge offset" are the keys to mastering both games. Dodge offset means you dodge while holding the last combo button you pressed. You know you did it right bcz bayo fires her guns as she dodges. This allows you to keep your combo going and get those pure platinums. You're welcome 🤭

I don't know if you're still checking the messages for this video 9 years later but thank you your introduction was hilarious but awesome at the same time good job

i originally learned about Bayonetta through the Animated movie they released and didn't even know there was a game until 3 or 4 years later, i was even more excited to hear it was made by Platinum. The games are awesome but just based on the Anime movie Bayonetta was already in my top 5 or 10 favorite franchises or characters and in my top 3 female characters. The designs of everything are so neat, i really wish they would make another decent animated movie and use it to maybe mend bridges with the OG voice actor?

I have every single Achievement for this game unlocked in my old Xbox 360. Those summer vacations, I sure played the hell out of this game. Man, I must have finished it like 9 times.

i VERY recently got into bayonetta, and i just finished bayo1 the day i'm typing this. i absolutely adore the game and i'm definitely going to keep playing it to... well, not 100% completion, rather just very close to that. i just wanna see as much as i can in the game, really. and replaying it wouldn't be that boring anyway since the game was developed by platinum games so that obviously means 1. it has nice replayability and 2. it is a exceedingly fun game

Time to do Bayonetta 3, or even redo this video, because you're the only person with a guide on KZbin for Bayonetta 1 lol. Good stuff, thanks

You really deserve more subs. Like really. Your videos are well made and I can tell how much time and effort you put into them. Your scripts are engaging and your video choices compliment them well. You show exactly what you are talking about and your buttery buns take it from there. Great channel! Found it yesterday and I've watched everything =)

Odd Luck Well… You’ll be happy to know that they nerfed her in Ultimate. I mean, she’s still a good character, but she’s not as good as she used to be. But she’s still fun to use. (In my opinion).

Some levels require photographic memory or persistence in order to get platinum. I'll grind for the million halos, cheat my way into playing as Jeanne. Runs great on PC. Even playable with mouse and keyboard.
