Pretty much my experience. I played Birth by Sleep first and was like "Oh no I actually like him" and then I played Crisis Core and my heart was shattered even more. I already knew from FF7 that he was dead, fell in love with him in Birth by Sleep, because how can you not, and then actually got to know him through hours of Crisis Core. That end broke me and I can still remember years later just how painful that was.

Definitely cried more because of these games than any of the main games tbh. Maybe had a little tear in my eyes for certain main game series games but Crisis Core especially fucking broke me. I knew Zack had to die but damn I didn't think I kind of had to do it myself or be all up close and personal while it's happening. I tried so damn hard to somehow safe him but of course that didn't work and I can't remember to ever have cried so damn hard and much for any fictional character. That on top of all the other characters and my heart was in pieces for days.

Yeah, I think all soldier are infused with Mako. Since that's how they're so strong and one of the reasons why Cloud was more affected by Hojos experiments than Zack. Cloud was pickled in Sephiroth/Jenova cells.

It's the violin song "Price of Freedom" that does it to me. It plays as you're forced over and over to make Zack fight the hoards of Soldiers, knowing he's dying. You still have to push on, watching as his swings become slower and he's shot more. The song plays at various other moments but it's at that moment we hear the full thing, it's full weight. However, when I hear "Why?", it brings to mind probably the cutest and saddest thing in the entire FF7 series. Upon finding Zack on the ground, teenage Cloud drags himself over and gives him the most heart-breaking, adorable blue-eyed puppy look, like his innocence was just shattered. We know how Cloud becomes afterwards so it hits even harder.

Well, if you look at the classical idea of a hero: saving the life or livelihood of others often at great personal cost, then yeah. It's interesting. In the beginning of the story, Zack's expectation of being a hero was the somewhat childish/shallow idea of fame, glory, and accolades, but by the end, he's become the more mature, altruistic idea of a hero, almost a Jesus figure type of thing. For that reason, I always thought of this game as being a coming of age story. *spoilers* The Zack at the beginning of the game would never have went off to die like he did at the end, because it would mean he wouldn't be a hero, but at the end of the game he does and he's satisfied because he understands what being a hero really means and the end was his chance to be one. To this day, I'm pretty thoroughly convinced his death at the end of the game was basically a suicide, so he could die a hero's death and give cloud a new life, because it was the only chance he would ever have to be a hero anymore.

Crisis core is an amazing psp game! This, KH birth by sleep, and msg peace walker really showed off what the psp was capable of and still blows my mind today. It sucks this game never got released on the vita ps store or get a HD re-release because I feel like this game didn't get as much attention as it deserved. I'm sure it sold a good amount though.

Being my first exposure to Final Fantasy I treasure this game till this day. I admit I bawled my eyes out after finishing it, "where were my tissues!?" The VII series story stands out to me for the reason that Game of Thrones does. It establishes really great characters that you come to empathize with and then kills them. Crisis Core did this even if you saw it coming. Angeal... Zack... Sephiroth in some respect... AND we get to fall in love with Aerith all over again just to remember what happens with her. I think the biggest punch to my heart in Crisis Core was actually that final phone call with Zack and Aerith. ...God I need that remake in my life.

I wanna see how this stuff ties into the lifestream and their world though because, as it stands, I get the feeling that they're trying for something meta and not 100% on board with that kind of approach. It was cool in Chron oCross, but ff7 universe needs to tie back to their world in an easy to follow way. Nothing too convoluted, ya know?

Easily one of my favorite games ever, and it was what got me into Final Fantasy. I was the perfect age and at the perfect point in my life when I first picked up this game and it was the first and so far only video game to ever have a really deep emotional impact on me. I will adore this game till the day I die, no matter how mind-numbingly tedious the combat can be (especially if you're trying to 100% every mission). Seeing, hearing, and reading other people's love for this game makes me so happy. Zach and Sephiroth are the two greatest characters in fiction.

Tip for materia fusion: Use potions, soma's and ether's in fusion (per 10) to greatly increase your hp,ap and/or mp respectively

Also: Smart consumer materia + doctor's specs (or something) item = each time you're near death you'll auto use a potion which will heal you for 4-7K health (half or more of your health

The only reason you would say how is because you haven't played or seen literally anything about it ever aside from the name, because anyone ELSE would obviously understand that he's referring to the fact that Okami's whole structure is almost identical to that of most Zelda titles, especially 3D ones.

One of the best games of all time, and you can only play it by having a PSP and the disc for the game. If Square remastered it for the PS4, that’d sell a lot. Heck, when the FF7 Remake finally is released, it could be packaged together like how the X and X-2 HD Remasters are sold together.

My favorite Final Fantasy of all. It was my first entry into Final Fantasy VII and Final Fantasy itself. Zack Fair is litterly my favorite Protagonist in Final Fantasy VII as well the Entire series. There's a lot of things I love about this game. Besides Cloud being Zack's rip off in FFVII. My favorite thing in the entire series, which I totally noticed in FFVII was that materia did not sacrifice stats to equip it. Seriously was I the only one who hated that. Not to mention Aerith totally cheating on Zack in FFVII and was glad when Sephiroth stabbed her. Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII is the best game in the entire VII series. And that ending. Aerith didn't cheat on Zack he disappeared for five years anyone would have moved on by than. And Cloud wasn't copying Zack he only took his memories not his personality. In the beginning of FF7 he was nothing like Zack he was a lone wolf mercenary who didn't care about the planet just getting paid but as the story progressed he did learn and start to care for the people he was surrounded by and began to think of them as his friends and family. He wasn't being Zack he was being what he thought someone from SOLDIER 1st class would be like.

You're going to be a little biased because you played Crisis Core first, but Cloud is quite an interesting character. He went through a lot of childhood trauma, has a lot of self-esteem issues, never achieved his life goal of joining SOLDIER, etc. Zack had a lot of bad stuff happen to him too, but he was a stronger person, he dealt with it better and he was still an optimistic "puppy" as Angeal would say, nothing phased him. So when Cloud suffered mako poisoning after the Nibelheim incident, and Zack told him of his adventures, dreams, and aspirations, Cloud took what he had heard from Zack and created a false persona of what he thought best represented a SOLDIER. It wasn't his fault, he was just unwell. Cloud actually has quite a lot of emotion, it's just that while Zack is optimistic, Cloud wasn't. In the end of FFVII, you see Cloud's true colours, not what he thinks a SOLDIER should be. As SOLDIER, Cloud is cold and distant at first. When you see his true personality for the first time, he is goofy, sometimes anxious, but he believes in what is right and truly wants to make the world a better place for the people he cares about.

DMW coming up with Octaslash during the Sephiroth fight was hype. Zack comes at him with all he got and Sephrot just casually deflects every single blow. It still does damage, because otherwise it would be really unfair, but it's a super cool contrst when he does that just after Zack was helplessly caught in a crossfire of Sephiroth's Octaslash
