Rest in Peace to the Growler crew from the Zappers who lost their lives in the training accident in WA. I live near the crash site and always enjoy seeing you guys ripping through our area. It's always a sad day when we lose any of our service members. I may not have been Navy, but I was Army aviation and I still look at every service member from every branch as my brothers and sisters. I wish the best for their families, friends and co-workers.

My young sons and I use to go to a place by NAS Whidbey where we could watch touch and goes with binoculars (I think it was called Monkey hill or something like that). Then one day we saw two guards in a hummer pointing at us from way across the field...they started coming at us at a pretty good clip, so we got outa there!!

I google the fastest car in 1/8 mile because they don't measure 300 feet speeds (unless someone were to ask for it). The fastest car is adragster that reaches 300 mph at 660 feet , 27 feet longer than this catapult. If the dragster's was linear, which it is not, it would still be half as fast as a catapult launch!

The singular aspect to all of your videos is the consistency in your tone (which is oddly very soothing) and the economy of your verbal delivery. There are no wasted words, no pregnant pauses, no “you knows” or “uhs”. I think besides being entertaining and informative, your videos should be studied by anyone who wants to improve their public speaking skills. If you’ve never considered it Pail, you might want to think of putting together a TedTalk. You have an excellent delivery. Moreover, I’d also recommend voice over work. Reading the comments I constantly see how people really enjoy the sound of your voice. Trust me on this, there’s very good money to be made in voice over work. Just look at Sam Elliot. The guy’s probably made more money off of his voice over work than his acting. In any event, another great video. Fly Navy!

Hi Pail, I really enjoyed this jam! It's incredible that the Growler has gone from a dead stop to 175 mph in only 2.9 seconds! I can't believe it! So impressive! The dream of most italians is to have a supercar like a Lamborghini. But they don't know that to pilot a Growler is freaking cool. Lamborghinis are fast, but afterburners are the top. There is a story that a F-14 pilot with either VF-11 or VF-31 bought a Suzuki Hyabusa when they came out in 1999 and somehow raced it against a F-14D doing a departure out of NAS Oceana. The Hyabusa left the jet in the dust until about midfield when the F-14, now airborne and in full burner, blew past it. Joke was the Hyabusa won the ¼, the Tomcat won the race. On the cat...even the E-2 would beat a Lambo.

Greetings from Australia! Growler Jams - my new favourite KZbin channel. Amazing images and commentary, thank you, Pail. It has really worked its way into my mind. Driving up the the traffic lights the other day.... "We are on speed and on speed is how we do it in the Navy. .... meatball, line up, angle of attack .... meatball, a little right, angle of attack!" At the lights ... "signature move, no big deal". Green light ... " Mil power .... wiping out the controls.... waiting ... waiting .. waiting ... Fly Navy!" Have you thought about a Q&A video where you could do a voice over answering some questions?? For example, I would be interested to know what's the maximum number of "bolters" you have had and what are your strategies for staying calm and focused under such circumstances? I'm guessing a night landing in adverse weather is the hardest thing in aviation! I am in awe of your skills and commitment.

Naval Aviators are just that.....makes no never mind if a guy or a gal...my mom knew several WASPS during that fracas in the 1940s.....lost one of them in 1944 due to the idiosyncrasies of the F4U... she recalled that the "cause" was most likely a rudder kick/torque roll, which I understand was common on that fighter. No doubt the "causes" of non-combat fatalities were mostly buried somewhere in the War Department, which is understandable. My mom and her pal would spend Sundays at Oak Knoll Naval Hospital in Oakland, taking lads out for picnics and such. My dad was drafted at 38 because he was a commercial artist....Patton/Mark Clark needed folks who could draw minefields/terrain in N. Africa/Sicily/Monte Casino and Naples.....both did their parts and are my heroes. An acquaintance was a Tomcat driver/Instructor at Fighter Weapons and Tactics at Miramar. "...if we drop to 110 Kns, I'm out." Spent time with the VX-5 Vampires at NAVWEAPCEN, China Lake during my illustrious, 7-year "career." Tough cookies, those lads. The CO of the base had an F4U with the usual H.S. 4-blade windmill but chromed. They flew A-4s and F-4s at the time. The "glorified bus drivers" from Edwards used the area to check faults with the F-111, which were "routinely" CFIT since the wing surfaces could not react quick enough (speed x distance/deltas with altitude) to the FLIR being improperly positioned.....Hughes finally figured out how to solve the problem, but I'm certain the info is still classified. Fair Winds and Following Seas, Swabby! PK BTW, We Black Shoes actually do respect "Brown Shoes!" It's the "Sand Crabs" we have some difficulty with! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@paulkalff6408Ай бұрын
Also....I had the honor to help move CNO Zumwalt's dad from one residence to another at NAVWEAPCEN China Lake. Elmo, Sr. was chief of industrial medicine at the Mike Lab....put on a few of CNO's command ball caps (with approval, of course). Not a bad experience for a young-ish Squid!
