CAN YOUR BLOWN BIG BLOCK MAKE 900 HP ON PUMP GAS? WHAT ABOUT IF I NEED THAT POWER TO RUN IN A BOAT, AT WOT FOR EXTENDED PERIODS? CHECK OUT THIS DYNO TEST OF A SUPERCHARGED 540-INCH BBC FROM BOSTICK RACING ENGINES. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU COMBINE LOW COMPRESSION, AFR HEADS, A HEALTHY CAM, AN INTERCOOLER AND 8-71 BLOWER WITH DUAL BRAWLER CARBS? CHECK OUT HOW MUCH POWER IT MADE AT 28 DEGREES OF TIMING, 30 DEGREES OF TIMING AND THEN AFTER WE ADJUSTED THE OIL LEVEL IN THE OIL PAN.

Love this. I am glad you mentioned oil level. Owner and builder might even take out a touch more oil because there can be a couple of degrees of running angle in the boat. I know it's not much, but windage is no good. Hopefully there is a crank scraper and baffles in that pan. I'd not even measure the oil by quarts but by how it sits on a dipstick. Stick references the crank, and the pan was custom so it would take some trial & error to find the happy spot. Also an engine like that will have remote filtering and possibly have oil cooling once installed, so quantity becomes relative and goes back to distance down from the crank. You call the cam mild. It's a boat, not a 1/4 mile car. I'm guessing it's more of a long life boost cam. And low compression is a good thing when you can add what boost you decide. Compression coming in through the top! I so want to do a marine big block!

I'd love to see this architecture morphed into a 60degree v12 dohc, 50% more displacement (12.6liters) with better balancing while also being about the same width as this setup. Joy of 4v pentroof style heads.. central spark plug.. more airflow for a given amount of lift. Heck potentially more valve-cyl clearance (due to valves being smaller and potentially intruding into the deck less at peak lift). Before some get all defensive saying "but ohv is more compact" were talking about a blown big block here not a lawnmower. Edit: the only thing I love more than a blown big block is a blown better and bigger block. That random screeching in the music has gotta go through, sounds like an audio problem.

I agree----especially on a "Roots" design supercharger where heat soak is a factor. The blower case on a Roots becomes pretty warm thus effecting the temps of the carbs. Horsepower may or may not be effected from the addition of a carb spacer, but a phenolic carb spacer will help the carb(s) from heating soaking and thus the fuel from getting to hot as well. Certainly food for thought.

That's only and issue when an engine produces too much cylinder pressure at cranking speeds.
