I have a guilty pleasure that I tell few people about, and that guilty pleasure is watching videos of wacky Vippu builds from Japan and pining over giant-chrome-wheeled JDM luxo-barges cruising down the wangan. I daren't tell any of my track-rat friends for fear that they'll begin to berate me about the unsprung weight of my 21" robo-vom-deep-dishes, or the lack of suspension stroke and effective damping from my leaky airbag setup. But, DP, with this supercharger build, you have cemented my desires of buying an old Lexo and building the Vippu carnival yacht of my dreams. The sound of unrelenting wheel scrub and supercharger whine is in my future, I know it. Thank you, DP. Thank you.

Tip for anyone who needs to hack up a super charger like this and doesn’t have access to a mill but owns a router . Cut a bit of board to act as a guide template for the router, anything that a bearing bit can smoothly run against that is not too thick will do space it off the flange and screw it down then use the router at its slowest suitable speed to cut the casing away neatly. Using a router with a guide template will achieve a clean neat job with no risk of destroying the bits you want to keep.

Tip for undoing studs etc if you cannot use heat and don’t or can’t get at them with an impact gun. Hit them with a hammer! Use a punch or drift if necessary but some strikes on the fastener as you try to turn it will help break it free. There is a tool called an impact driver that looks like a screwdriver made completely of metal that is meant for this purpose but it might not have worked as it would drive the top nut, a punch would drive the stud.

I'll not be doing that anytime soon but great job :) One tiny thing I don't know if you have done it yet but the LS430 is prone to a problem with the radiator that can let water into the gearbox that can fail - and a replacement radiator is recommended for peace of mind (I'll be doing mine very soon) I've already done the timing belt (also recommended every 60,000 or so) although not bothered changing the gearbox oil as I dont do the mileage.
