Outstanding video! Your content has always had something special, but the additional creativity and work you've put in on the recent videos is well worth it and very entertaining. One thing I have really enjoyed all along is when you have a performance of a song, full on band, those are awesome. Not only is your performance fantastic, and your enjoyment shines through, but it is so helpful to see you do these amazing performances with relatable equipment that many of us could get. You inspire me to make music and be better at my craft using an iridium, or a dream, or a 5 watt Supro, whatever equipment, and not worrying about chasing the tone dragon so much as just have fun and perform! Make music, and have fun that's what it's about. Thanks for all the hard work you put into this channel. Wish you much success and excited for your channel to continue to grow.

Great video. My personal take is that there is an entirely different option that has been completely ignored by the industry and the public though. A small amp is great if you are going to be mic’ing it to a recording or to a PA. But to sit with one in a room, they *do* have that small amp sound. Some sound better than others, but some do sound downright “boxy”. My solution would be for companies to offer *low wattage* amps, but in larger cabinets. This was something you used to see decades ago. My first tube amp was an off-brand old 60s Beltone amp that was probably less than 5 watts, but it was in a two 10” cabinet. I also had a couple of small vintage amps that had a single 6 or 8 inch speaker but in a much oversized cabinet. These amps all sounded larger than they were, but without having too much power. I’d like to see companies start to offer low watt amps in non-small cabs again. Someday I would like to build a two 12 or four 10 cabinet for my 12 watt 1966 Fender Princeton. Rich full-range sound at useable loudness ranges. That’s my two cents.
@SuperdangerStudios8 ай бұрын
The Tone King Gremlin kind of fits that description. 5 watts w an attenuator built in and it has a line out. But year, that would be great to have a big cab for a small amp head when it calls for it.

Wonderful video, as always. I really appreciate your approach on all of your content - positive outlook, having fun, not getting all tone-geek hair-splittin’, cork-sniffin’ high and mighty. You look like you’re having a legitimately good time. Much appreciated. Btw, back at the start of COVID I decided to try building a MojoTone Champ kit, another 5 watter. With the help of a friend I made a couple of small tweaks, and honestly for my needs (which is basically trying to relearn how to play guitar after years in the desert, so to speak) it kind of makes me feel a little dumb about my bigger, fancier amps.

It depends on the scenario. An eq pedal or subtle drive pedal can clean things up before an amp, which can really help clear up the guitar in a mix. Pedals aren't always a necessity but very useful in a studio setting.

Great playing. Great tone. I’m more into 15-40 watt tube amps for live stuff, but everyone’s situation is different. I could definitely make that amp work, and I can see how it could really be a studio gem. Btw, I’m a big Iridium fan for my direct board and as an ex Ruby user your videos were extremely helpful. Thanks.
@SuperdangerStudios8 ай бұрын
right on. Ex ruby user? interesting, what made you change? glad my videos could help!
@TomWhite-nu2rp8 ай бұрын
@@SuperdangerStudioswhile I think the Ruby sounded fantastic for some things it just seemed really fussy and hard to dial in. The lack of tone controls on two of the three channels made those channels hard to deal with for a humbucker equipped guitar (not enough treble). The built in ir’s just didn’t do it for me and you’re locked in. Into the effects loop return of an amp (ir disabled) the sound got way better, or using another outboard ir same deal. The brilliant channel, however, is the bomb and I probably would have kept the Ruby if I could change out the ir’s. With the Iridium, it’s easy to dial in. Every knob reacts just like you’d expect, and the sound is great. I can run dual mono and set up one side with an ir of my choice and the other side with a null ir. I can then use the rig with speaker simulation direct or to an amp without, or both at the same time.

Another superlative video. Fantastic! Ref. the amp: great video conceit aside, I think that rather than pitching it against the big amp crowd (I’ve tried 5W amps and they are simply not as much fun in the room as a 15++ watt box), it’s all about the mic’d sound, which is course as good or better than many larger amps. And, more importantly more FUN (if more limited in tonal options) than an amp modeler. Keep your cab sim but grab one of these Supros, move a little bit of air, jam with your buddies, stick a mic in front and gig it, or run it through a 2x12 or 4x12 modelled / IR cab. So it’s kind of a way to reverse engineer 100% digital folk back towards the light (of glowing tubes, or SS) of real amps. Clearly still a place for modelling with all the variety, but it’s not like this Supro is hard to move around!

right? It is a great halfway mark between full modeling and fully miced amp in the room!

Every person should have a Pignose. Seriously, $100 for an amp that sounded good enough for Frank Zappa to record with.

The difference between 5 and 50 watts is around 37 db to 47 db or only around 10 db, people have a misconception about doubling watts, it does not double volume, that’s why you need 100 watts 😅
@StevenSimpson-it5mv8 күн бұрын
Doubling wattage adds 3db. To get a perceived "doubling" of volume requires a factor of 10x.
