Oh nice. I'm gonna try that next time. I'm usually propping it up over a bowl, waiting pacing while it drains out. I don't like using spoons to scrap it out. I watched my mom do that, and scrap some metal shavings into the bowl. Not fun trying to get all those shavings out.

I use a double boiler to melt my chocolate, that way it doesnt get burned in microwave. I use a sauce pan with water in it and a stainless steel bowl on top, i melt almond bark in it and dip in big marshmellows up half way then sit them up and sprinkle with sprinkles or any small decorations. I also do pretzels in chocolate or potatoe chips. Omg im hungry. Lol.

Omg, you just hit on my childhood trauma. My mother scraped out every drop she could from the bowl while I stood there begging her to leave me some. As a mother, I remember and ALWAYS leave my son enough in the bowl and beaters to make him happy. Also, I bring him choice things that he likes as a surprise treat. For example, he likes plain ground beef with salt. So, if I'm frying some up for chili or other meal, I'll fill a small prep bowl and walk it upstairs to him to eat while he finishes his homework before dinner. ❤ Food is love.

What I liked about this video, this one in particular was the fact that while she was making the candy not everything went perfect. And what I mean by that is just regular people making candy we could always make something that did not go quite right. And this particular video showed us that. And the person who commented on never add liquid to chocolate, now I understand why the one day when I was trying to make chocolate candy for my grandchildren I put a little tiny bit of milk in it thinking that it would make it silky. But, what it did was exactly what was done in today’s video. It’s seized right up. I had to throw it away. We learned something new every day. I enjoy watching these videos because they give such good ideas to things to try with our own families. 😊

I just want to say Thank you for the E-cookbook. I've never owned an actual cookbook before. And I'm 52! I started cooking at 9yrs old for my younger brothers. We were latchkey kids & I wanted to help out so my mom & dad could rest when they came from & went to work. They had crazy shifts. My mom commuted from Denver every day & my dads schedule fluctuated between 1st & 3rd shifts. So basically I'm self taught. I've always learned by watchin & doin! I had to learn from wherever & whomever I could before KZbin was a thing! I get asked for my recipes often but I rarely use actual measurements so those are hard to share. Anyway, I'm excited to see all the recipes & make everything proper! Again, thank you so much for such a lovely gift. ❤

I really enjoy your videos. I do have a question regarding your process of melting the choco chips. Why don't you use the double boiler method? I've been cooking, baking and sewing since age 8. My dad was a chef. I'm now 73. We didn't have microwave convenience. Using the double boiler method pretty much eliminates the seizing up of the chocolate as I witnessed in one of your videos. And I believe it's much more time saving. Sometimes the "old fashioned" methods top todays modern methods.

Reminds me of making candy with my mom. ❤ We didn't have microwaves back then. She liked to make divinity, fudge and also a variety of yummy baked desserts for the holidays. I know with the microwave you have to do it in increments to make sure it doesn't make the chocolate to dry or burnt. I think there is powdered food coloring? The red didn't seize up the second time with the cherry flavour? Maybe you just needed to remelt the red chocolate?

A possible tip. When soreading out your candy nougat etc, put a piece of parchment on top and you can rub it out even and smooths the top at the same time. :)
