Drayton Manor MY FIRST TIME! Stand Up Coaster, WILD Water Ride, Trains & Thomas the Tank Engine Land

Join me for the final video in the UK theme park tour series - my first ever visit to Drayton Manor in May 2021! In this video, we had special permission to film ON RIDE footage of two of their most intense and amazing rides (both POV and reaction!) - Shockwave, my first ever STAND UP ROLLER COASTER and Storm Force 10, a very fun, themed, wet water ride/log flume - plus a fun ride in Thomas Land - Winston's Whistlestop Tours! I am so happy to be able to share some on-ride footage of us and also we enjoyed so many rides, from dark rides like like Sheriff Showdown to amusement park rides like Drunken Barrels, a fun train ride on the Polperro Express and more, plus we spent some time in the Thomas the Tank Engine land (Thomas Land) and got to see the actual Thomas train and Rosie train chugging along being very useful trains! We had a lovely day on my last outing of this May 2021 England theme park road trip series, where thankfully the weather was starting to warm and the sun was coming out!
Please note, on ride filming is strictly prohibited at Drayton Manor. We were invited to work in partnership with team Drayton to safely film on their rides, using our professional and secure camera equipment.

Shockwave is actually a creation from Intamin worldwide, aka the people behind Hagrid’s and VelociCoaster, Cheetah Hunt, and many other rides and coasters. It was one their earliest projects, all the way from 1994. As the last Intamin stand-up coaster, it’s a very rare coaster experience. Glad you got to ride!

Going to Drayton Manor over the summer as a reward for my Thomas obsessed 5 year old son. He loved watching this video! And thank you for your great commentary when watching the Thomas train. Hi Jackie, so glad that you & Sam and your friends had a great time at Drayton Manor. Its actually my favourite UK themepark. Always loved it as apart from the rides theres a zoo part there & I just love the layout of the park. I have to admit that I've only ever stood underneath Shockwave & watched all of the brave people on it! And OMG I cannot believe that backwards drop on Stormforce!!! That's crazy insane! :) And I absolutely love all the Thomas stuff ( maybe a little too much for my age but why not eh? :) makes me smile- so cute! ) x

I'm from Perth Australia, when we get back to the UK we usually head to Alton Towers. We haven't been to Drayton Manor for many years...probably, thinking about it...18 years...wow. Alton Towers is our UK go to park because of thirteen. My absolute number1 favorite coaster. Thanks for sharing Drayton Manor with us, it was good to reminisce.

All the stand up coasters I've been on have all been about the same just overall so uncomfortable and rough I wish more of them would convert to floorless coasters like Mantis into Rougarou at Cedar Point. My local amusement park has a Thomas land just like the one at Drayton but the entire park is geared for little kids. I really loved this UK theme park tour and can't wait to see what comes next !

They recently replaced parts of shockwave track however you're quite right they are rougher than more modern coasters. Secret is to slightly bend your knees before they lock the seats I'd say

I love that you had a chance to see two new things this trip. This looks like a cute theme park and a good Family oriented theme park. Two of my nephews used to love Thomas and I must admit it was a cute little series.. I must admit you are good sports for going on that water ride. I love how you are drier then Sam. My first standing coaster was the King Cobra that used to be at King's Island in Cincy. That look on your face when you got the big splash from the backwards drop was priceless.

Nice Vlog! Drayton Manor was my local park growing up. Stormforce really is a soaker!.... I was there on opening day, in the station before the track tilts for the first drop there used to be a screen that came down behind the boat so the guests in the queue couldn't see the tilt/drop (That's why there is a fisherman figure holding a lever on the left hand side, he would 'pull the lever' and the screen would drop down behind the boat). Keep up the good work!

Kings Island amusement park (just north or Cincinnati Ohio) had a stand-up coaster called King Cobra from 1984 to 2001. It was, by far, my favorite kind of roller coaster.

Riddler's Revenge at Six Flags Magic Mountain, California is a stand up ride that I've gone on. Being a guy, gotta be careful playing around on the platform waiting for the cast members to lock the seat into place. There's been a couple times where the bike seat got locked in a little too high. Glad you had a great trip to the UK! On my bucket list for sure!!

Loved this video, used to go to Drayton Manor as a kid every summer holiday (there were like always special offer coupons in the papers or on cereal boxes). A few things look they're still there such as apocalypse (which I was always too terrified to ride) and Storm Force 10. Fair play for riding a water ride in the UK, guess it's still not as bad as Pop Eye in Universal 😂

Drayton Manor is definitely for families. I really liked this place too. I was not sure what to think about the water ride once it got to the top. Sure wasn't what I expected, & surprised how exciting it turned out turning the track, going backwards, with a plunge, longer ride. Oh it was neat! That was awesome! Thomas Land is cute. Our favorite amusement park, Kennywood, put in a Thomas the Train also over in Kiddie land. You & Sam had a nice cool day to enjoy. Lunch menu looked really reasonably priced. Sam's Burger looked really good. This was a wonderful video. I loved seeing the standup coaster. Went fast. The force see ed to pin you to the back of your seat. I got afraid for you that it may have knocked the wind out of you for a second. That was strong & I wasn't sure who made that heavish type sound just as it was about to descend. Enjoyed your video. Hope you are well, & safely home now. I will miss Sam.

That stand up roller coaster is very much like one we had at Kings Dominion in Virginia. It was also called the shockwave! I totally agree it was a super weird feeling coaster. Unfortunately they removed it a few years back from the park.

This looks like such a cute park. We once rode another standup coaster named Shockwave too at Kings Dominion in Virginia years ago, I wonder if it is a clone of the one you rode. To answer your question our dream UK park would be Blackpool, since we love dark rides it would surely be the park for us. Plus there is the Ripley's and Madame Tussauds there too which are the type of things we love to film, so when we finally get to UK that is the one for us.

I've done one stand up coaster and that was the Georgia Scorcher at Six Flags over GA......it was different.....but not different enough .....the Batman (suspended coaster) at Six Flags still remains my favorite

That backwards drop on the 💦 ride was unexpected. The best part of that ride was Sam’s reactions. 😂 I rode a stand up coaster years ago in Kings Dominion in Virginia also called the Shockwave. Very weird feeling! It closed in 2015.

I've ridden the stand up roller coaster Vortex at Great America in Santa Clara, CA many times and I loved it! There have been other stand up coasters such as Great America in St. Louis and also at Kings Island in America but I think they're all gone now.
