So i think most people are forgetting a very important device that lena created in the second season that they even used in the second episode of this very season... the alien DNA scanner! Kara tampered with it back when she didn't know lena very well so it would read her as human. Anyone remember that? Well as we all know Lena trusts her own devices so she thinks Kara is 100% human. So in Lenas mind even if she is seeing the signs she will always dismiss Kara possibly being Supergirl due to thinking that its impossible because of the scanner. Who else thinks this is a valid reason Lena hasn't figured it out yet?

I think it comes into play, but I believe there is more that is keeping Lena from either figuring it out or confronting Kara on the matter if she has some kind of suspicion about it. Lena (at least if the show is sticking close to the comics) is smarter than Lex. Probably because she doesn’t have to combat certain personality problems like being a narcissist or a sociopath. Which would lead me to believe that intellectually, Lena has to have some kind of idea about Kara. But Lena loves her (however people want to see that love to be is their own business, but Lena and Kara love each other greatly) and I believe that Lena is choosing, more than likely unconsciously, to put her faith and trust in the tech that she herself has built, despite what she has inadvertently witnessed so she can continue to deny the possibility that Kara has done the one thing that Lena told her she didn’t want those she loved to do to her anymore-Lie to her, especially by omission. It’s what she lived with her whole life and it tore apart her life, making her even more of an outcast than she already was, to except that Kara is really Supergirl she would also have to except that Kara has hidden it from her for years and I think that would devastate Lena, simply because she truly does love and trust Kara. To Lena, Kara has become her family. And no I don’t necessarily mean in a romantic way, I mean in the way a best friend becomes a part of another’s family. In some cases, and I believe Lena and Kara’s case, such friendships transcends a romantic relationship, namely because it’s not about sex, it’s about the trust and love that bonds them together. Something that is fundamentally nearly impossible to break, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be fractured and torn ragged. I think that is what Lena is unconsciously trying to avoid by ignoring all the signs. It will be interesting to see what will happen when Lena is confronted with facts she can no longer ignore or brush off.
