What I always think during this scene is that Kara needs to go under red sun not yellow. Kryptonite is only poisonous to kryptonian’s under yellow sun radiation, so if Kara is under red sun, she might be weaker and essentially human, but the kryptonite would be rendered inert to her. Idk just a thought.

David Wallerstein there may have been a small deceleration period where he was able to act as a buffer of sorts. It may have been able to slightly slow the impact? But yeah ahaha it looked pretty rough especially with the point of impact only being his arms on her back
