How was it effective? The plot of the film remains the same with or without her 10 minutes of screen time; the character changed nothing in the film, it was pointless for them to even be there you could say. Except to put her in the movie trailers to try to sell tickets, and we all know how that turned out. One of the biggest bombs in box office history. Unprecedented, but what a ride!

I guarantee that she will be recast by another actress that looked comic book accurate to the Kara Zor-el Supergirl character. I don't have anything against the actress Sasha Calle, I think she did a pretty good job in the role of Supergirl. However, I still stand by my opinion about how she was miscast for the role of Kara's Supergirl in The Flash film. If anything, she should've played Jessica Cruz's Green Lantern which would make a lot of sense.

There was a brief point after Zod removed his armor and started flying where Supes had the upper hand, but Zod quickly regained it before taking the battle to space. He only won because he got lucky during their midair scramble during reentry and got Zod's back. Supergirl, on the other hand, actually managed to fight at his level, even if she lost in the end.

The only point in MoS when Zod was in this situation was when he threatened Martha and Superman pounded him all the way to Smallville. In every confrontation after that, Zod was growing more and more dangerous and Superman was mindful of the civilian casualties, thus not being entirely focused on the fight.

Sasha Calle's Supergirl is far and away the best iteration of this character, and the first one to show her the same respect as Superman. The only other version that comes close to this, is Laura Vandervoort's Kara, in Smallville. The big problem with this film, is that DC basically walked away from this entire timeline 6 months before the film came out. I suspect that is why it has had such disappointing box office performance, despite being (in my opinion) the best DC film of recent years. After all, how many people who are not die-hard superhero fans will bother to see a film which is almost certain not to have a sequel? We probably won't even see these actors in these roles again. So, yet again, DC have shot themselves down just as things were getting going.

For anyone who's seen anything regarding Superman and Supergirl, you know that their pods contain all the knowledge of Krypton, and other known planets in multiple galaxies(as both EL brothers were scientists), the effects a yellow or blue star will have on their bodies. And since Kara was actually much older than Clark when their pods were jettison into space, she would've already have known that she'd have powers. Flight, Super Speed and Super Strength always present themselves first. In an adult body, she'd be able to absorb yellow sunlight more efficiently. However, due to her lack of experience and time to really condition her body, she managed to exert herself. She only lost because Zod obviously has more combat and tactical knowledge. She I guess getting stabbed with metal from Krypton might be one of the few things that can actually penetrate Kryptonians while on Earth.

Yeah, I think people forget that supergirl was a teenager in Krypton and basically knew a lot of the main things about Earth and krypton. That's why she was sent to protect Kal. I mean, in the movie, she knows about Zod and how the world engines work
