You can use a fly tyers bodkin already made for 2 to 3 dollars. It’s a brass handle with a stainless tapered tip.

@mguerramd that's a good one, I've tried that one before but I was clumsy on moving thin CA around a nearly finished model. I found using a scalpel blade held horizontally is good for those final touches of glueing paving and thin materials easier to handle. There are many ways, guess it's down to the job at hand and what we have at reach :)

Interesting. I was looking at the rather expensive DSPIAE super glue applicator tool & wondering how it's supposed to be used. Seems rather pointless after seeing how simply you created your own just as effective tool.

Hey! The Proxxon is actually a really good bit of kit compared to other disc sanders on the market. Firstly, most of the disc sanding I do is at a smaller scale, so it fits the purpose. The balanced motor means there is next to zero vibrations when in operation allowing for accurate movements. On top of that, the plus side is that it's super quiet too. I have other disc sanders but I use this one the most. Check it out it's a good addition if you're sanding small parts.

Yes a sewing needle can also be used for the same purpose, but depending on your application this tool can be made for your specific needs. For example, the spring steel wire used measures 0.3mm in diameter and the size of the loop can be made for the amount of glue to be applied. With the option to shape the loop, say with a circle loop the glue can be applied not just at the tip but at many angles. With the sewing needle the thinner the metal around the eye the smaller the needle eye, plus the thickness of metal at the top of the eye is usually thicker than the sides creating a greater distance away from the material to be glued. This can cause marks and signs of points of application. The second point I find useful is that you can bend the wire between the loop and the handle in order to get into tight spaces, this is great for dealing with complex pieces or applying glue around a corner. So for a few minutes of making this tool, for me at least as a model maker it's worth the hassle ;)

I only make these as I have invested in tools to deal with all jobs and on the side can make the things I need to help my process run smoothly. I'll try to think of a way to make the same tool in a more economical way using basic tools. Hey ya! The loop is for thin super glue only. Make a little well from masking tape to reapply when needed. Once the glue dries on the applicator, burn it off using a lighter. Easy 😉
