All of the Analogue products are as close to the original hardware as you can get, it’s not emulation. Hence the hefty price tag. I have most if not all of Analogues products that they have released and they are the real deal

Personally the original console is always the best way to play games on. It's how it was meant to be played and can never be exactly duplicated. People might like upscalers to make it HD and all that, and that's fine if that's what you like, but NES with the antennae adapter on a good CRT (or composite adapter if you got the later model) is the best, more pure experience for me.

I hope this comment gets seen. Haven't started yet, but I would like to get a few retro games into my collection, but I'm by no means looking to collect everything for any single system. Wanting to get a handful of Sega Genesis games, SNES games, maybe some GBA games and that might be it. I don't expect the collection per system to even hit 10 or 20 games. That said, I was looking at the HyperKin RetroN 5. I know the controllers that come with the Hyperkin systems get bad reviews, but I also know you can hook up original controllers to it and maybe even 8BitDo bluetooth controllers to it, if you get the dongles. Would you say the Hyperkin RetroN 5 is my best option as an all-in-one for the systems I want or do you suggest another way? I do want to do HDMI to modern TVs.

The Retron 5 looks very attractive because it can play so many different types of carts but be aware it uses emulation, the games don’t run directly from the carts. Many ppl don’t care about this but some do. The Retron 3 is decent with 3 different cart types and it DOESN’T use emulation, which is great. The Super Retro Trio HD by Retro-Bit is similar to the Retron 3 as well. Also look into upscalers like ones made by RetroTink, that’ll convert original consoles to HDMI but they do it with the lowest lag possible and the video output looks great. Enjoy 😃

@@retro_escape2969 Thanks for the reply! I knew that the Retron 5 used emulation, but didn't know the 3 did not. Retron 3 has no HMDI, but I'll check out reviews of it vs the Super RetroTRIO. The RetroTink seems a bit pricy for the few games I intend to buy.

The Retron 3 HD was not listed until I sorted by what could play Genesis games and then it showed up, but out of stock and $100 USD vs the $80 for the Super RetroTRIO Plus 3-in-1 System. Man your buddy way oversold the analog , he must really like it but they are janky …. Cartridges don’t even fit in their mold right lol.. maybe slightly better hardware that your hyperkin or retro trios but same overall quality just more money. I personally use the retron 3 because it’s hardware emulation aswell not software like the 5. And cartridges don’t wiggle around in the slot lol
