For anyone confused. Based off the ending and what others have theorized. A now grown man with a troubled childhood past can't let go of his childhood and took some sort of hardcore drugs to experience this trip. The goal of all of this is the man desperately trying to re-experience child-like happiness and bliss. In all the dreams the boy is traveling through all sorts of nightmares and trauma in order to grab ahold of stuff that makes him happy (ball, rabbit, dog). The second to last visual we see is the boy being a grown man melting on the floor, surrounded by toys. Can't remember anything else but there are theory videos already. From a straight forward point of view. This boy is being forced to sleep by a terrible smiling creature, forced to go through nightmarish trials.

I really feel like the main theme of the game is hiding your real emotions because of the smiley faces all over. I also believe that each world fits into this nicely like the first world is the kid dissecting his emotions/experiences to try and better understand himself shown as putting toy pieces together. The second is about how you can't be happy all the time like the hearts literary popping themselves once their joy comes to an end and the no smiley face guy represents how you can't react to life with one emotion and how you need to match your feelings to what is happening ex. Being happy when your eyes are being pulled out of your head. The third might be I'm really guessing right now about boundaries given the black and white setting. I think the boy had some friends that he would play with in the woods but they weren't nice friends to him and one day they killed the boy's beloved dog. The boy knew that he shouldn't play with them but because he tries to keep positive about things he was to late to save his dog. The ending I think really is the nail in the coffin for me with him drawing a smiley face over his face.

I have a theory about this game. The adult you see at the end of the game is the little boy you play as. Basically the whole game is the guy tripping hard. He had a bad childhood and he wants "to be a child again" (he probably just wants the safety and innocence that comes with being a child) So that's why everything is cute at first appearance but turns gross and scary (probably the drugs that makes his bad experiences a 1000 times worse) also he imagines getting the ball, rabbit and dog back cause that's the only closure he wants but can never get

I think he might've had a psychotic breakdown when he was a kid (from the barbaric abuse of the bullies to losing his toys, and the (possible) death of his beloved dog) that lead to him being committed to a psych ward. Him going to sleep makes him relive the trauma that he experienced in his childhood, and judging by the ending, is something that he can't escape from because human beings need sleep to function. When it glitches to reality and his head is melting, his head isn’t actually melting but it’s symbolism on how drugs destroy your brain. The ending with the little kid trapped in his own mind symbolizes how drugs traps your true self while your forced to always wear a smile. The smiley face entity could also be seen as a the influence of drugs personified, the forced smile and how he laughs at the boy in each memory and the entity is the one that keeps this hallucination real to him.

Here is a theory that explains the ending: I guess the ending means that the kid is actually an adult that has consumed drugs that make him live in a fantasy world where he thinks he is happy while in reality he is making damage to himself. That’s why there are happy elements like toys that transform into monsters. He drugs himself because of the traumas that he had as a child, specially the loss of his dog, and the ending is him in reality and his true him being trapped behind a fake smiley face, representing how drugs work. I'm certain that his parents wanted him to have good dreams, so they made a dream catcher and placed it above him near the light. The dream catcher did grant him happiness in some cases but the dream catcher caught nightmarish portions of dreams and made a sort of hybrid. Throughout the game we see 3 items. A ball, bunny, and his dog. He dreams about them because it is the things that brings him the most joy but as I previously said his dreams were twisted and we were forced to find them. I am guessing the kid goes through these dreams daily and is terrified of them which is why at the end he begs for help but reassures himself by having fun with the mirror. Thats my theory. Edit: analyzed some scenes. I also believe that he still has these nightmares even as an adult and to cope he uses drugs to dull it. He ends up ODing and dying.

Is this game done by the Chuchel devs? It looks like a much darker version. I believe they left the end ambiguous on purpose. First, you wake up, implying it was a dream. 2nd you see yourself dead. 3rd your breaking the fourth wall by breathing on the computer screen and drawing on it implying that it's all just a game. Which one? You choose. Also, the open nature of the game leads to multiple interpretations depending on your experiences. You see it as a cautionary tale against bullying if you were bullied. You think it's about depression or anxiety if you have suffered from either. You thinks it's about Purgatory or the afterlife if you lean or have been taught religiously. Ngl after finishing, It feels like he went through either the FINAL RECOLLECTION, you know the final surge of clarity and comprehension before death or the final terror, it's hard to say. If he went through the Final Terror it's that last nightmare you have before you go numb, grow out of, or basically use prescriptions or recreational drugs to deal with. When those "hoodlums" were frolicking in the fields with ease like if it's their stomping grounds it feels like he was a outsider to the bully culture before partaking in it shown with the kid who got eaten alive which is a metaphor for a novice/new kid, which could be newer than him or in the same recent addition like him, being absolutely humiliated and discarded. He took some part it in showing he was in the crowd as they ruined the poor fellow and probably half assing bullying too in a attempt not to look weak. The last bully who got startled probably meant he was found out as not truly being with the mean kids shunning him. The dog is concerning, it could be a stray/wild he loved like his own. They both were absolute pals with fantastic chemistry, but the bullies in a attempt to figure out if he's part of the in-group probably jumped it to see his loyalty and shown he was more loyal to the dog and not them, so they attacked him to until he went with them before the new kid incident. The treeline is weird, to me it speaks with the passing of time, I felt like he searched for the dog in either a desperate attempt to reconcile, or him depressingly lying to himself the dog is still out there just one step ahead of him about to be found. For the Final Terror it's him in a bender of a alcohol or drug variety, having one last twisted memory in his haze coming to a realization he's too numb or grown over to care about. For the Final Memory it's him on his "death bed", he's currently ODing remembering happier times before the sweet goodnight.

Theory : This guy is an adult tripping balls about his childhood trauma, and the drugs make him see it as if in the end everything was okay and just a bad dream-
@dabillya68453 жыл бұрын
i see it differently that he is doing drugs to bring back his childhood happiness but as we see in the game, that IS NOT HAPPINESS. thus, drugs do not give you happiness, only temporary pleasure and then back to SUFFERING. the true adults are the people who realize that they will never be the child they once were. life is fucked up isnt it.

Since at the end there we see him as what seems like an adult in a run down building passed out smiling on the floor so I believe it's supposed to be a take on drugs, a lot of people describe bad psychedelic trips as starting out very pleasant before "seeing the devil" in some way. I suspect maybe he ODed on some sort of psychedelic drug and on his trip he re-lived hellish versions of his childhood. He's also chasing after something the entire game which is another common phrase associated with hallucinogenic drugs, "chasing pink elephants" "chasing the red dragon" and such. At least at the very end there he seems to have come down on a happy note just before he died

This also seems like the boy is remembering all the goods and bads in his life before death because as we see in the beginning hes playing theres a book shelf etc but at the end everything except the rug and some papers he might of been transfered to another realm for years and when he was put on the cloud he fell asleep but forever cause at the beginning hes the size of a average 5 year old and at the end when his dead bodie is on the floor he looks 35-45 years old

So, at the beginning, in his bedroom, the ball and such weren't there, so I'm sure that ending part in the bedroom was more of a flash of heaven than anything. We also saw a flash of what looked to be an adult version of the character lying on the ground, likely having jumped to his death judging by how the back of his body looks mushy. I believe the plot of the game IS about his depression and him trying desperately to chase elusive joy, and his life flashing before his eyes on his way down to the pavement.

There was a dream catcher in his room at the end, he probably gifted the charm to capture his bad dreams making them smile?
@dabillya68453 жыл бұрын
no. the smile is the fake happiness through drugs. drugs are a fake happiness and not a natural happiness. it will distort your dreams, memories, and life meaning. that is why his memories are super fucked up now. and he dies due to trying to "chase the ball" "chase the dog" "chase the rabbit" its all a metaphor for drug addiction and how it is unexplainable unless you have gone through it. and even then drug addiction is different for every human being, it can end up like this or it can end up something different. but in the end, you are NOT the same person you were before taking the drugs. that "past" is gone. thus showing his memories being distorted and fucked up.

In my opinion this game is all about his trauma and he can only get away from it by the three things we got from the game which is the ball,rabbit and the dog he sadly lost all of them and his trauma comes back , his depression swallows him as he gets older. He tried getting his memories back or more likely try to substitute it with drugs. Another thing is the child literally ignored all the bad stuff happening after he saw his favorite things(flashback to the spike scene with the ball) he desperately chases after it
