Sammy Lawrence is the Music Director at Joey Drew Studios, running a large team of people within the music department. He is one of Bendy and the Ink Machine's key villains and a fan favourite. He has quite a background story to his character and so in this video we take a look at everything we know about Sammy Lawrence in episode 1 of a new series called The Joey Drew Studio Archives. In this series we return to the world of Joey Drew Studios and Bendy and the Ink Machine to take an indepth look at each and every one of them. I agree Sammy thought of himself as a shepherd. In my opinion, all these inky creatures followed him becuse of his attitude. I can imagine him talking in front of a large group of Lost Ones,convincing them to a new faith. I can imagine the ink nation, full of fear, despair and no other memory than the swirling darkness of death and their ink prison, listening to him and praying; grasping on any type of hope for their salvation and for freedom. To a stranger Sammy sounds crazy,but for them,he sounds like a hero.

Originally I wasn’t very fond of Sammy, but after looking into his backstory more and really noticing the fact that he really just wants to be a human again, I started to like his character a lot more and now when he shows up for his monologue I get excited about it.

If you read the books and play the games, you'll notice that Sammy actually has one of the most important and significant roles in the lore. He's even more important than Alice Angel. I already said this to another guy, and I can't be bothered to type this out again, but let me go copy and paste what I said to the other guy, so that I can explain to you why Sammy is important. Even though you did not ask 'nor do you care. Okay, here's what I said to the other guy: Sammy was the reason I got into the game in the first place. Not only does he have one of the most important, and significant roles in the lore, but he is just cool! He has A LOT of significance in the lore. He is directly connected to The Ink Demon, in the form of being his most devoted follower and his prophet. That alone is already a big deal. But he also has a direct connection to The Ink Machine. He drank from it, gave himself to it, and gave several sacrifices to it. (Buddy Lewek, Norman Polk, Dave... I think his name was. And Jacob.) Not to mention he also interacted a lot with Thomas Connor and Joey Drew. So he is also directly connected to the studio itself. He is more involved with the lore than even Alice Angel! As for his actual character? He has a cool mask. He has a sharp axe. He is very animated and alive in the way he moves and conducts himself. He is good at fighting, and has a dark, but interesting personality. And most importantly, he has a convicning, alluring, and villainous voice. He is the most devoted demon follower. He is The Ink Demon's prophet. He is The Mad Songwriter. Sammt Lawrence, even 5 years later, is still the best Bendy character in my opinion. He's interesting in the books, and dark in the games. He is the best villain too. But also just the best overall character. Sammy Lawrence is a very well written, and carefully crafted character. And honestly, I think it would do Alice Angel some good to learn a thing or two from him about being a dark, but LIKEABLE villain.

They were a thing, but the reason Susie got so angry seeing Allison with Sammy is that Sammy, who works directly under Mr. Drew, didn't speak up about the recasting, though she's naive enough not to understand that when Joey has an idea, you can't stop him. Plus, Sammy just reminded her of the studio, so I think that's why she left him

I immediatly took a liking to Sammy, I just thought he was so interesting. When he was human he sounded like he was a no nonsense kinda guy, I like that he had a relationship with Susie or so it seemed. I just feel really bad for him, his (second) death hit me the hardest, even more that Boris. On top of that, his scene in the end credits were chilling you can just see the pain he was in and how desperate he was to be freed and not to let his face shown, liek he is ashamed. I really hope we learn more about him in the future.

Sammy Lawrence, Thomas Connor, and Norman Polk are my 3 favorite characters. Specifically in that order. Thomas Connor is especially interesting in the books. Especially The Lost Ones. Really deep character in the books. Kind of flat in the games though.

I have a problem with the theory that when an inky character dies they lose their humanity more. The projectionist almost gets smarter after his death in chapter 3 and they only thing that changes with Sammy between his first 2 appearances is only a lack of memory about his most recent death. (He attacks Henry almost thinking that Henry has killed him and he’s getting revenge. Obviously he is mistaken). Also his second death gives him a searcher body but this seems to be the luck of the draw, not him losing humanity, other wise Sammy would have a slightly different design between chapters 2 and 5 which he doesn’t. Sorry for speaking for so long. This is a really well made video SHB.

Buddy says his body stayed behind when he was reborn as Boris, which does line up with the coffins in the game, though Sammy form was more the ink covering his whole body rather than a separate new one. Also when characters die in the game, some like Norman and Twisted Alice's had their bodies remain intact, while others like Brute Boris turn to ink and disappear. The Butcher Gang are more a mixed bag; the ones we defeat turn to ink, though others still remain

Another fantastic analysis. It was great to see the evolution of our favorite crazy music writer religious bendy fanboy. Though it is a very interesting that Sammy Lawrence was reborn so much... He dies in Chapter 2, and twice in Chapter 5. He was reborn THREE times, and, if we get to see him in the Dark Revival, that may allow us to understand if it's actually another world or if the game is taking place at the same time as Henry's journey. Being buff made him better. Realistically, having to sacrifice multiple people WHILE having to fight AND having to constantly move around bodies, cardboard cutouts, and axes, would force you to build muscle. It doesn't have to be scary. It is just realistic and cool.

That's exactly my theory, and it strengthens with the merch that shows a perfect Bendy character in clothes that aren't featured within the studio. Many people, myself included, believe that this is Henry, and it would make sense if he looked this way in Chapter 5, because Sammy was so blind with rage, he wouldn't stop to examine who this new figure was, he just saw the horns and started swinging

The fact that Allison Angel and Tom Boris don't have souls and disappear in the ink makes me think that they aren't the real Thomas Connor and Allison Pendle, and this is also reinforced by the letter from Allison next to Wally's. Besides, Wally isn't that mischievous, he's more lazy, and would probably come back as a Boris clone if anything

I have a theory that JT MUSIC was given alot of plot twists so they could build on their song 'Erased' mainly because of how many things were said about theorys that weren't even revealed yet which ended up becoming true just like how they make Sammy say the quotes "I am the wolf in sheepish clothing" which reveals Sammy was a fail between a lost one and a borris clone and "im blinded by this evil loathing" revealing that the ink is corrupting sammys mind it also says earlier in the song "illusion that your alive" carrying on the theory of Henry being dead and in a constant loop. I wonder if Sammy has shared psychosis with Joey as the one initiating the "folie à deux", as represented by the ink. This shared psychosis probably is what made Norman act creepy as well. Susie might also have fallen victim to shared psychosis. I truly believe all of these people, especially Sammy, got their delusions from Joey through the shared psychosis phenomenon. The ink is a metaphor for that. This ink's powers sounds WAAAAYYYYY too much like the folie à deux phenomenon in psychology.

Here is my theory about Sammy: I think he maybe used to be a searcher that evolved into a human like person because when he gets his mask knocked off in chapter 5 he has no eyes or mouth and it’s just pure ink exactly like a searcher or maybe the searcher could have somehow merged with a lost one for that human form (and Sammy’s soul entered it)

I just realised something so minor but I'm gonna talk about it regardless So the Sammy Lawrence figure has a strange mask, it's mouth doesn't have a hole, and one of the horns is cut off instead of being faded away In this video, when you talked about the Bendy mask behind the searcher in chapter 4, the mask almost looks identical to the figure version They must have used that texture instead lol

Sammy gives me a serious Shepherd and/or Farmer vibe. Perhaps he was born in the country, to farmer parents. But after they inevitably passed, he put the Farm up for sale, and eventually, Alison and Thomas Connor bought it(referenced in Alison and Tom's episode that they lived on a farm), and Sammy moved to the city. Just a part of theory on my end... -_-

@XENABELLA ROSEPOOL REEDZILLA Actually... no. Sammy ACTUALLY meant Ink Bendy betray him. Not Henry. Before Sammy died in chapter two, he said "Soon he will hear me. He will set us free." And the "he" means Bendy. But when Sammy died in chapter two and makes a return in chapter five, he said "YOU LEFT ME HERE TO ROT! WHY!? WHY!!!???" So when Bendy attacked him, his vision was blurry and his voice was damaged. And Sammy saw Henry as Bendy.

I actually have bendy and the ink machine on my Nintendo switch but the MOST terrifying thing happened, so ok I was getting the ink blobs from the swollen searchers and bendy spawned so instead of getting the swollen searcher near the miracle station I just ditched him and went in the miracle station where I was breathing heavily then after I got all of them I was going to the lift and then bendy spawned and I pressed the button praying and hoping that bendy doesn’t get me and when it eventually showed up I didn’t go to Alice I just closed the door and waited a tiny bit then went to floor 9 it was legitimately SO terrifying I will NEVER forget that moment

So,etching similar happened to me: I had gotten the equipment necessary to progress in chapter 3, I was walking to the elevator. Bendy suddenly spawned right behind me, I booked it. I kept spamming the 9 button. It reminded me of a dramatic scene in a movie, it was so convenient
