They haven’t gotten into it in the MCU, but Bruce has DID. When he was hit with the gamma radiation for the first time and transformed the “Hulk” was able to have a physical vessel of his own for the first time. Bruce’s dad beat him as a child and in the comics actually killed Bruce’s mom while Bruce watched, so that’s his childhood trauma. His DID is what caused him so much trouble with controlling the Hulk. He thought the Hulk was a symptom of his gamma radiation when he actually was created as a child to deal with his father’s abuse. Bruce suppressed his alter that would become the Hulk though to the point he wasn’t even aware it existed. In the comics it took years for him to understand he has DID and the Hulk isn’t his only alter. It may be that the MCU Bruce never figured it out or hasn’t yet. Comics Bruce gained similar “control” before his DID diagnosis, but the Hulk eventually re-emerged. Jen came from a much more stable childhood(she actually was one of the few stable things Bruce could count on when he was young) and though she seems to not want to be a hulk in the show so far, in the comics she was quick to embrace it and rarely changed back to her normal self. She didn’t have someone else sharing her body so she had no one to fight for control. She can lose control if she gets angry enough, but generally she’s almost always in control.

Also it seems people forget the transformation jen has. Like she was not 100% put under gamma radiation as Bruce did so of course she will be not the same hulk as Bruce. Of course she can have more control of her hulk persona since half of her is still more jen than hulk. It's like captain america with the serum only she take the look of a hulk. In the comic it happens and in the mcu I guess they wanted to make more closer to reality and they choose to make this parallel with women being just a mess with their emotions when we can control them more often than men.

The gamma radiation really only gave him a green super strong body (under simplification lol) among other things. some small notes: - hulk's CGI has been worked on through so many films with such high budgets - she-hulk's CGI here is her very first iteration. limits stop at where you noticed, with her skin being comparatively smoother than his. - doesn't seem well-explained, but looks consistent enough to say - she-hulk only got her hangover in human form. hulk seems to have assumed he can't get drunk because he had stayed in hulk form while drinking.

Hey, Monica! I liked the pilot. Tatiana Maslany was remarkable in "Orphan Black" and I hope this material doesn't let her down. ABOMINATION, formerly Emil Blonsky, was injected with the super-soldier serum twice without also being exposed to vita-ray radiation. That missing component already had an aberrant effect on his bone structure but then he forced Dr. Samuel Sterns aka Mr. Blue to pump him full of Hulk blood! Sterns himself developed a bulging cranium and a quantum leap in intelligence when the Hulk blood dripped into his open head wound. That plot thread was never explored even though he was being set up to be the Hulk villain known as THE LEADER, an evil super-genius with an elongated flattop for a head! The origin was simplified from a gunshot and a transfusion but still involved Bruce's blood getting into Jennifer's body. Despite her protests about superheroics, Jen loved being a superhero and was part of the AVENGERS, A-FORCE and the FANTASTIC FOUR when the Thing was off-world. The series is taking its cue from the DAN SLOTT run of the 2000s that had Jen take a sabbatical from adventuring to return to her lawyer roots specializing in superhuman law. The breaking of the fourth wall was from the JOHN BYRNE "Sensational She-Hulk" run of the 1980s that revitalized the character and made her a fan favorite. She-Hulk was DEADPOOL a decade before Deadpool existed! MARY MacPHERRAN aka TITANIA is Shulkie's nemesis. This is Jameela Jamil's character. Mary received her powers from DOCTOR DOOM so they're going to alter her origin most likely. Jennifer's ability to control her transformations is comic accurate. The one thing they haven't quite nailed is that, as Jen Walters, she was originally a wallflower filled with insecurities and inhibitions. As She-Hulk, she's a celebrity superhero who revels in her liberating sensuality as a gorgeous, statuesque glamazon! I hope they retain that key attribute. There were several assertions that bothered me. 1. She's indignant about men who condescend to her about her area of expertise yet she contends that she knows how to deal with this radical transformation better than the only expert on the planet: her cousin Bruce. All his warnings about vulnerable friends, lethal strength, moral obligation and inviting challenge from opponents are absolutely legitimate yet she's ridiculously dismissive! How irresponsible and hypocritical! 2. She gloats about her lack of an alter-ego but the reason Bruce has his is because he was abused as a child by a terrorizing father. The 2003 "Hulk" movie by Ang Lee delved into all of it which is why many fans consider it a proto-MCU film. Bruce suppressed all his trauma until it was unlocked by his gamma exposure as unmitigated rage! She displays an utter lack of empathy. As a family member, she should be more understanding especially since she used to help him hide from his dad in the comics!. 3. She states that women exist in a state of fear and rage. That's actually more true of men. Women tend to access their emotions more readily than men. They cry. They share their feelings. They shriek with glee. Men are taught from childhood to suppress their emotions and to be stoic. To be emotional is unmanly. Acceptable male emotions are violence and rage as a display of strength. One of the most common difficulties men have in relationships is that their partners complain that men don't express their feelings and thoughts. Men are fearful that such honest expression will negate the image they've been taught to project: being a pillar of strength. Women have a healthier emotional life because they access their feelings and have experience integrating them into their daily existence in a more balanced way. Women may feel rage and fear but they don't have a monopoly on it.

I’m really enjoying this show so far. This is one of the more layers back stories without the high stakes the MCU needs every now and then. And like Ms. Marvel we need time to digest some of the crazy stuff that happens in other MCU projects from the perspective of a ‘normal’ person. She-Hulk is that necessary breath of fresh air that’s giving us an alternate view of the universe and I just love it.

After my early low expectations for Hawkeye, Moon Knight, and Ms Marvel were completely blown away by how fun those series were, I came into this series with high expectations. And they were met. I have ZERO gripes. I'm also extremely excited about future guest appearances I won't mention here since you appear to have avoided the trailers. (So yes, four were confirmed in the trailers, one of them coming at the end of this episode.) I'm also really excited by how they've just set up some version of World War Hulk in the next 2-3 years, and since she's based in LA this might well be one more character to show up in a form of the West Coast Avengers I've been theorizing about since WandaVision brought us White Vision. I am also very curious, after a post-credit scene of Ms Marvel, if Banner talking about their DNA being able to synthesize abnormally with Gamma radiation, if they're now technically mutants. Speaking of post-credits scenes, this one was the funniest EVER.

I like the CGI (and it is also about 10000 times better than in the trailer) but yeah, another reactor channel also pointed out the same thing, that one simple reason Hulk looks better is because they rendered much more body hair on him; simply put the more visible body hair on his skin map on his frame makes the CGI look more real despite not actually being "better" from a technical point of view.

Nice reaction. I liked it. I think that the Hulk looks better only because they've had a more time to work on him. Years more time. Next, I feel that some of the dislikes came from the I'm better at this because I'm a woman thing. If someone giving you a cat call as she put it is making you that mad. You got anger management issues. I personally know some folks who have told me it's worse when no one see you. Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence kind of thing. If they would of went with some of my training to be a lawyer was to be able to control my emotions so I could put aside my personal feelings about a case and deal with it. Even if I end up representing someone I don't like. Say the Abomination. That would have worked better for a lot of folks than I'm better at this because of woman things. Putting all that a side I think the episode did its job. Introduced the character, how her origin came about, a couple of supporting characters like her friend Nikki. And it gave us her first villain. Titania. Who later in the comics she becomes kind of a friend/enemy. They have a fight club together. Yeah, crazy but it's comics. Also, we got a little space mystery. Bruce said he'll look into that. Lead up to his next movie. Hulk Planet. Seems Cap Am wasn't the only one getting busy. The guy in the court room who she is going against in the comics ends up hiring her for his firm. Hulk was friends with both Tony and Steve. Which is why he's the one who called Steve in the movies to get the Avengers back together and not Tony. Overall, I think it was fun and gave us lots of things to look forward too. You're going to have to buy a green top at some point for this. I'm sure whatever you come up with will look amazing as always. Until next episode See You.

The smoothing out of her skin is definitely a factor, you're right. But also, the studio had ten years to consistently tweak and perfect the CG models they use for Hulk. Jen's CG model looks to be about the level of Hulk in Age of Ultron. It'll get more polished in time.

Great reaction. Apparently, this type of CGI is harder to do with women because we are so conditioned to seeing women wearing makeup designed to provide as smooth an appearance as possible while the CGI relies on subtle textures and facial hair to provide realism. Just imagine all the uproar there would have been if they'd actually had a woman with a more natural look. They were kind of caught between a rock and a hard place and did the best they could. Most of the reason it looks as good as it does is because Tatiana has an incredibly expressive face and that helps a lot.

The Sakaar spaceship from Thor Ragnarok, which I believe is Hulk's lover from that planet and she is tracking Hulk down by a tracking device implanted inside Hulk/Banner's body without Banner's knowledge. I think his lover is here to tell Hulk about their kid, yes Hulk was on that planet for 2 years and was a celebrity, so it's natural that he would have a love life. Hulk might have been acting up because Banner took him from his woman without knowing but most viewers thought it was because he got beaten by Thanos and was just scared but was lovesick. I believe that Banner didn't come to an agree with Hulk but found a way to suppress Hulk's persona without Hulk's approval. I believe before this series is over this strange Hulk lover will catchup with Dr. Banner while he is with his friends (Wong, She-Hulk, Abomination, Titania, Jessica Jones, Daredevil and Sam Wilson) celebrating at Banner's bar on his island that Wong transport everyone there. Hulk's lover step inside the room and She-Hulk asks her who she was, and she replied to the mother of Hulk's son Caiera and right after that Hulk take over Banner's body which expand in size from smart Hulk to savage Hulk size, as soon as Hulk hear and see his lover and then he aggressively starts to attack everyone at this superhero party.... I will stop here because all of this is my theories some or all might be correct just take this information with caution or just delete from memory.

From a VFX point of view women are more difficult to draw. With a man's face you notice Bruce has stubble. That provides texture. A woman's face is smoother. Less imperfections to provide texture. Graphics and art is difficult to do with not as much experience in VFX. Doing a female main character is going to build the VFX knowledge

It's done that since her first appearance in the comics. Hulk's hair is usually different than when he's Bruce as well in the comics. Hulk has gone from having short hair and being clean shaven in one panel to having long hair and a full beard in the next one before. When"Thunderbolt" Ross was Red Hulk, he had no facial hair but had a mustache in his human form.
