I have the Troy Shadow X2 with the stock Super 7" coil and also have the Troy 9" Spider coil. I keep the 7" coil on my X2 because when I switched to a different size coil I found I would have to reset ground balance for my ground. When I want to use my Troy 9" coil I pull out my original Tesoro Bandido (all adjustments are external) and it's a lovely match!

Oooo I always wanted one of these. The super 7 coil is awesome. So I found out when I got one (just coil) and sent it in with my DeLeon because it has to be factory set for coil (no GB in disc) which you can use a bit bigger or smaller but wanted to set with that coil. That coil looks just like the Mojave thin 7" "precision" coil however I found out that the Troy coil does have different windings and since I sent it in with the DeLeon they said it had leakage so they rewound the coil for me to make it brand new. Haha when it was "broken" it was one of my favorites. Now it's by far my favorite. Troy contracted tesoro to make their shadow x2 detector. But tesoros agreement said they can't sell the super 7 or super 9 coils with their windings. So the Troy shadow x2 and both the coils that fit are not the same as any other tesoros. The price for the detector stopped me. Don't get me wrong the precision 7 it's almost on par but they are different. That super 7 and the DeLeon makes the best coin shooter I've ever had. The analog/digital mix in the DeLeon they really got the nail on the head. I call them "probability graphs" on the display. The design is magnificent keeping it analog while only part of the signal goes to the processor to covert to digital for the graphs. And the more you swipe over the more "nailed down" the results get. It has all the tesoro disc analog circuit but the added digital processing shielded and totally only used for screen only. And every number on the side of the bars is always spot on for coins. As an all purpose it may throw you off but if you want to pick every dang coin out (USA) you can easily. Set the disc to only take out nails and the graphs bars tell you the rest. Anyway I have no experience with the Troy shadow x2 but the super 7 coil matched with the DeLeon let's me literally walk into a place and only pick out all the coins. I love it. And I use others after for the real hunt.

Thanks for sharing I'm really looking forward to using this machine on the river, the Tesoro coil has a slight edge compared to the super 7 in this demonstration but I can't say 100% until I've hunted with both of them on the same terrain

Flippin' 'eck! Another blast from the past. I saw an X5 (Vaqu/Trident2) for sale not long ago. It was soon snapped up. 🤔I wonder: seeing as how Troys are black stemmed, do they have a wider iron disc band than their US equivalents? Reason: Never owned a Troy, but my black-stemmed Tejon and Euro Sabre 2 had wider Fe disc than their US grey-stem counterparts, as 'we lot' on this side of the pond, mostly have an antipathy toward iron. The ES2 actually had an iron tone "gronk" option. Good luck with it Paul. I hope that it serves you well and proves pleasant to use.

I still have an X5. It accepts small iron at the lowest disc. Tesoros had either the "ED 120" or "ED 180" disc; 120 will knock out square nails at the lowest setting while 180 accepts them. I consider the X5 to be a hopped-up Bandido or Outlaw, basically. I really like the X5, although it can be a touchy beast to run. I've never used the other models. I'm looking forward to seeing Paul's results with the X2.

Hi Paul, Yes Troy had Tesoro to make the X2 for him. But he engineered the higher end model himself which was the X5/X7 I think. I had a conversation with him when I was still selling metal detectors. He told me what he invested developing them and I was shocked at the cost he put into the detectors. I'm sorry that he didn't apparently make it, could have provided jobs you reckon?

Пишу комментарий из Беларуси. Жаль, что не знаю английский. У меня есть Troy X5, но и X2 очень классный прибор, мне он понравился. На какой частоте он работает? Жалко, что нельзя свободно купить к этим приборам катушки.

That precision 7 should be the closest match for that detector to the stock one but maybe either it was factory set with different size coil or the insides have aged and their tolerances changed in time.

I think I'm lucky with this machine because both coils are really stable, I'm going to try it out with my little 4' Tesoro coil as well

Is it the same as Mojave ?
@paulwarrenmetaldetectingАй бұрын
Hi David I've never used a Mojave the X2 is basically a Tesoro Umax with a little bit more bite, I love it, it feels great in the hands
