While specs are important(if they are true) how headphones sound is the key.

I just got mine. I think your comments were very balanced and fair. They are BRIGHT. (I LIKE top end extension, so if I say they're bright out of the box, take me my at my word.) The Bass isn't really a strong point in terms of dynamics, but, like you said, it's not Bass "shy" either. It's not the equivalent of a Senn 600, 650, Ultrasone Pro 900 or V-Moda M-100's (My four reference standards), but it's plainly worth every penny spent. Your readers might like to know that the Presonus HD7 is a rebranded version of the same headphone and is currently being discounted to about $30.00, which is much less than I paid through Amazon. Shop wisely and enjoy!

@thechannel426010 жыл бұрын
That's good to know. I'm not too worried about the durability of the drivers since they sound high-end enough to last a good while. The rest of the headphone construction on the other hand......I know lots of other headphones are made of plastic too, but the plastics of this set combined with the minimalist framework-style design makes me want to be careful with them haha

Wow, I've had these things for almost 9 months, didn't realize that haha. Anyway, they're still perfectly fine. The plastic's held up alright, just a couple scuffs here and there.The pads I bought seem to be holding up fine as well.

I'm a normal sized dude, but have an XLG head. The ONLY issue I have with these is they arent that adjustable on the bigger side. The wings would serve someone with a medium-small sized head well. I actually had to remove them completely and STILL the metal arches across the top don't adjust out far enough to be 100% comfortable. I wish I had some sort of adjustable band or something instead. Other than that, they're great for the price.
@thechannel42608 жыл бұрын
+Nerolus Yeah, that's one of the few gripes one could potentially have at this price point. Since on things like build quality, one already expects this to not be great, just good enough to not fall apart immediately. I don't have a very big head so it worked fine for me and the friend I gave this set to has like a medium-sized head so it fits well on his head.

@Jeppe23232310 жыл бұрын
theCHANnel Thank you! I am really on a budget as a student, but still want some kind of quality. There is always that crazy cheap product that just impresses in quality, and based on all the reviews i've watched, this product seems to be one of them! I hope the sound leak isn't too bad, as i am going to use them on the fly in the bus/train and when walking. Looking forward to recieving them.
@thechannel426010 жыл бұрын
Musen They're semi-open. Anything with "open" as part of the type isn't really something I'd recommend for portable on-the-go music, but they definitely impress in terms of sheer sound quality. IEMs are usually what I recommend for listening while out and about, but that's just personal preference as I much prefer the noise isolation and less bulkiness of IEMs when moving around. I've now got a set of IEMs that I'd equally recommend on a budget. Might do a review on that sometime in the future, but I'm pretty low on time as of late so I dunno when I might get around to it.....

Hey man great review. I got a question/ favor to ask.Ive dont alot of research and I cant decide on two different headphones. The takstar hi2050s and the superlux 668bs, let me know if you can get your hands on some takstars!
@thechannel42609 жыл бұрын
nikkijinigal Well I'm gonna have to disappoint you because I won't be getting a set of those anytime soon. The HD600s and Fidelio X1s take up all my headphone time and I'm super happy with them. But based on what I'm seeing from others and the product itself, I'm only gonna ask you one question: Do you want a detachable cable or not? The HD668B has a 1m cable and a 3m cable and it looks like the Takstar's cable isn't removable. If you want to have a removable cable, go with the Superlux, if not, then go for the Takstars. They both cost about the same after getting velour pads for the Superlux (Takstar comes with velour standard). But if you don't care about the removable cable, take the Takstars. They look like they're built better with that fat headband and aluminum frame. The earpads also look oval and should make it easier to go all the way around the ear. Honestly, considering Takstar's rep, you won't wrong picking up a set of Takstars or Superluxes; should be great bang for buck either way and a good entry into the world of better audio. Hope I helped!
@thechannel42609 жыл бұрын
nikkijinigal Actually, maybe I will grab a set to check out. I'll probably find a way to sell them somehow later ;). Go to Head-Fi.org, sign up if you haven't already, and send me a PM. My username is Midgetguy there. I can send you back some impressions of them after a week or so of listening.

Were they uncomfortable with the stock pads? or just really hot and sweat inducing? It's nice to see someone who has glasses on review these, because i've worn headphones that actually hurt due to my glasses :/ didn't know until after i bought them.

Hey :) Which Superlux is more comfortable and better for Gaming ? Superlux HD681 Evo or Superlux HD66B ? I have a big Head and Ears. I will buy AKG Velour Pads too :)

Is the Superlux HD668B sounds good is it comfortable with AKG Velour Pads or better buy Superlux HD681 Evo they have Velourpads too.
@thechannel42609 жыл бұрын
They look like they're both the same size so they'll probably both fit on your head the same. I dunno which one sounds better, I don't have the HD681 Evo. Word of warning though since you said you have big ears, the pads might have to squish either the top of your ears or your ear lobe. It's because the headphones are circular. If you had the budget, I'd much rather recommend the Sennheiser HD558. The pads are oval to better enclose your ears. But for those without the money to spend, probably either of these Superluxs are fine. Good luck with choosing!

ok im looking for some nice cheap headphones and i see the review is from 2014 are you still using these and how have they held up. my cloud 1 headphones died so i need something new and have an external mic so thats fine would you still recomend these
@thechannel42608 жыл бұрын
I gave to my friend as a gift probably 3 months after I did this review. He's been using them almost daily for a few hours since then and it seems to be holding up fine. For a budget headphone, yes I'd still be happy recommending these. Takstar HI2050 is also a good choice and don't require getting new earpads. I bought velour earpads for these in this video, they're quite uncomfortable with the stock pads. The Takstar HI2050 has nice velour pads to begin with. And the earcups are oval-shaped, which I think is a clearly superior design because NO ONE has circular ears.

are you using velourpads is it worth it for 21,50 € or better use the normal standard pads by the Headphone :) ?
@thechannel426010 жыл бұрын
Yes, those are velour pads I'm using. They are much more comfortable than the standard pads, but how much are you willing to spend on them? How much are the headphones for you? 21,50 € for the velour pads seems really steep as that's the equivalent of nearly $30. I paid $37 for the headphones and $13 for the velour pads back then. Hope that helps your decision!
@cenkuz802210 жыл бұрын
Okay thank you for the headphones 29 € and for the Velourpads 21,50 € is that good price for both 50,50 € or better without Velourpads :) You bought good Price :) and Thanks for your Help :) I follow u you have my Abonnement :)
@thechannel426010 жыл бұрын
Cenk Uzun I guess they're a bit cheaper in the US. I'd say they're still worth it. They are still a good set of budget headphones and the stock pads aren't very comfortable anyway. If you can find pads for even cheaper, maybe even under 15 €, then that would be a better deal. I bought my velour pads on eBay and they shipped from China so they were a little cheaper. Look around, you might find them for less. Good luck!
@cenkuz80229 жыл бұрын
thank u :) i will buy the Superlux HD681 Evo is that good they have Velour pads too :) ? and i want use it for Gaming ? Is the Samson GO Mic good Option ?
@thechannel42609 жыл бұрын
Cenk Uzun I hear the Evo is decent for the price. I don't know if there are velour pads for them or if they fit the HD668B pads as it looks like they might have a different mounting system. And I don't know about the Samson mic, but Samson has some solid audio offerings so it's probably good. Can't be much more help though, sorry.

Do you think a casual smartphone is powerful enough to power these headphones at a moderate volume? Do you think they are quiet enough to take them into public spaces without bothering anyone (I hate when people hear my sound lol)?
@thechannel42609 жыл бұрын
JulianUndso You average smartphone will run these no problem, but I personally wouldn't use even semi-open headphones out in public. It's going to leak enough and it'll be audible, especially when at volumes where you can't hear the outside world. My opinion is that any sort of open headphone just isn't for going out in public.
@jukpulfer9 жыл бұрын
theCHANnel well... okay than. ordered them anyway, I guess you can't really go wrong for 21 Euros. I bet these aren't the best traveling headphones anyway (I mean look at the size of them).
@thechannel42609 жыл бұрын
JulianUndso Yeah, they aren't the best for traveling. They're pretty big, they don't fold, and I'm not the most confident in the plastic construction's ability to take rough handling. But yeah, for that price, they're not too much of a downside.
@jukpulfer9 жыл бұрын

Cenk Uzun Tough choice. I think perhaps the HD668B. It offers better music experience for the money but slightly less comfort. Still, with velour pads I didn't find it too uncomfortable for wearing several hours at a time.

@thechannel42609 жыл бұрын
@patrick pitz, I dunno why I can't reply directly to your comment, but maybe you have some setting on or something. Anyway, yeah, the stock pads are a bit stiff and press against your head more than the velour ones. And the sweat-inducing thing sucks too. Honestly, I don't think leather or leather-like pads of any sort are much good for people who wear glasses. Velours end up being more comfortable. I'd recommend getting headphones that either come with velour pads or have velour pads for sale. The soft material conforms better around the legs of the glasses and it doesn't to have nicer foam in the pads either. Sennheiser headphones are good, I use a couple of sets myself, but they're a fair bit higher priced.

Built in DAC (Realtek ALC1150) on my mobo good enough?
@thechannel42608 жыл бұрын
You mean in regards to sound quality? I mean, it's not gonna blow your mind, but it'll do the job. My mobo has an ALC892 which is kinda crappy, but the ALC1150 sounds better than that one. If you're talking about power, mobo headphone amps provide enough power to get listenable volumes on headphones like these.

Any way to make them less tight? My ears hurt when I use them with glasses :/
@thechannel42609 жыл бұрын
***** I wish I knew so I could help you. They weren't that tight on my head cuz I have a small head. Usually I'd say something like bend the frame outwards a little bit but the frame of these are plastic so they'll probably just break if you try it too much. Are you using the stock pads or did you change out to the velour pads? Because changing out to velour pads helped me with comfort.
@edvinasba9 жыл бұрын
theCHANnel stock pads, need money for velour +amp
@thechannel42609 жыл бұрын
***** Then the velours might help when you can get them. They did in my case. I found the stock ones to be pretty uncomfortable, even compared to normal leather pads of any other headphone. Leather pads really don't work for me, but these pads are a little worse than the usual.

You want AKG K-240/270/271 Velour Pads. If you don't want to use eBay, Thomann have them (as well as the 668B). They cost over half the price of the 668Bs, but that just shows how good value for money they are!
@thechannel426010 жыл бұрын
Tams80 Yeah, they're the exact same as the AKG pads because they pretty much use the same cups, what with the whole design similarity and all that. The pads I got cost about 1/3 of what the headphones cost, but boy do they make a big difference; a little less bass and isolation, but less bass is fine and it's not like isolation is a selling point for open or semi-open headphones anyway. The velours make just such a big difference in the comfort department though, it's fantastic
