They're pretty easy to open up actually, that's why a lot of people like to mod them(including me). Just take a sharp knife and pop those small discs on the sides(the ones with Superlux and HD668B writings), this will reveal a screw, unscrew it, remove the cap and you reveal some solder joints and wires, and another screw, unscrew this one and you will have access to the sound chamber.

Here's an insight to a 2 year video. Samson SR850's use the same external (ish) and internal design (they use superlux speaker drivers). Those 50mm speaker drivers, I believe, are the same for the most part albeit really really really hard to find a replacement, of which I am trying to find. The backstory is, my SR850's just broke (dropped them in water)... Popped off the logo cap covering a screw and took it all apart. Measured the driver directly with a multi meter and it had nearly 2 million ohms across it. Edit 1: Not the obvious seam on the logo cap.

They won't break, that should be last of your worries because actually that design makes the tension very little. if and when the wire gets pulled, the jack will Orient towards the pull and all the force will be applied on removing the jack instead it were fixed then it would apply force on the chassis and jack in lateral direction

Lmao....i hadda pair of akg 240z black and gold..they sound great, but, i guess, with, all open back phones, wen i would crank em.up, it felt like all the air was comin out of em..was lookin for somethin to complement my skullcandy hesh 2 wired..tbey sound good..little dark, but, they dont distort at high volumes..give me volume, clarity and no distortion..ill be good ta go.. Anyway...great review by ya..peace

The earpads got to go. I cut them up and put other pads on it. The soundstage is very big. This headphone is great for binaural recordings.

Yes I agree. The stock pads are ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I got a different softer pair and love them.

They're pretty decent, especially for competitive or FPS gaming to pick up steps/walking, but the lack of a mic could be a deal breaker. Otherwise, it's worth it. By the way, you kinda look like Leon the Professional. lol

It also have a tight fit for me too the flappy thing and the pressure on my head plus I wear spectacular so is kinda annoying can t wear them for long cause it hurts my side of the head.

Own these for awhile. They are way too harsh in the treble. Just very fatiguing to use over long periods. The flaps are very uncomfortable for me with a big head too. The pads suck being a bit too hard, but HM5 round pads work to rectify that. Overall they are OK headphones, but I prefer the Superlux 681 Evos over these Superluxes.

A simple fix for sharp treble is to add another layer (or two) of the thin piece of foam covering each driver. You should be able to find the foam online.

I found a way to add a cheap inline mic. U will 100% need a mini portable amp to drive any of these headphones to get full potential and amazing sound from them cause your stupid phone do not have the power no have an integrated amp to drive big headphones and they will sound like shit if u go that route. Also the perfect audio cables to connect to the amp and phone/dac/etc and to the headphones are VERY IMPORTANT as getting the wrong and cheap cables (type of materials used) will definitely give you that perfect studio live quality soundstage or not! Trust me, audio cables do freaking matter! I have finally found the perfect audio cables + portable amp that make these Superlux HD668b sound incredibly AMAZING with the best soundstage than any $200+ headphones! And all this with still having the stock earpads the SuperLux came with!
