I’m an “audiophile” and I have these in my collection. They sound fantastic out of the box. The ear pads are hard but that doesn’t bother me. Some people find the treble overly bright but most people like them. I use them for DJ style mixing and general listening. I also have headphones of all prices (only going up to £500 so nothing high end) and these are a worthy pair in my collection. Buy them they are a steal.👍

0:17 sorry but that statement doesn't make any sense. Most audiophile recommend the Superlux headphones specially the 681, the evo, 668b, 669 as entry level studio headphones. Dunno who were the "audiophiles" you're referring to, but they are not to be trusted.

I bought these as my first "audiophile" headphone about 5 years ago because I was a broke college student, but wanted good audio. since then I've bought bought a pair of audiotechnica ATH-AD700x and a Sennheiser HD600. For my head, the superlux are not comfortable - the little wing pads for the headband were very fatiguing after only an hour. That being said, with some new earpads, the superlux really do give more expensive headphones a run for their money. its honestly unreal how good they sound.

I have the Superlux HD681 for 5 years now and had to replace coz the connection starts to fail. I decided to go for HD668B just for a change. They sound very different if you ask me. Hd681 in my opinion have bigger soundstage and is brighter and has more clarity. But it can sound 'piercing' after a few hours listening. It is slightly more comfortable than the HD668B..i can feel the flap thingy on HD668B pressing on my head and bit unpleasant after 1 or 2 hours wearing them. Hd668B has a slightly more warmth to its sound. I still like them both (i still have another pair of HD681). These headphones are cheap.

DO NOT PLUG DIRECTLY TO NOTEBOOK. DO NOT PLUG IN BACK CONNECTOR of PC. THis HEADPHONES ARE 52 ohm intended for DJ and studio console that most often provide POWER AMPLIFIER. IF not properly MATCHED POWER AND IMPEDANCE can destroy yout HEARING with overpowered sound in coils. The WORK AROUND with computer PC is PLUG int FRONT 3.5mm usually meant for headphones. And check mother spec for features like "AUDIO BOOST" or "impedance match" or "power match" . IC circuits of integrated audio posible provide power control for more than 32 ohm headphone (where this superlux are 56 ohm). Hope it Helps.

Got these, had them for a while, then the cable broke inside the earcup, thankfully, very easy to do maintenance on, fixing was not an issue. I then at some point got a dac with a option for balanced output. I went and added a 4 pole audio jack, so each ear driver gets separately driven. Then this thing really became super alive... (also probably because the dac/amp can output more power in balanced mode)... I really recommend if you have the option for balanced out put to make them balanced... they really are amazing sounding.

This is the best review in english for the Superlux 668B Headphones! . I wish you had another review for the 669 model too. I am not sure which of the models to buy. I like that 669 are closed and they isolate the exterior noise but in the same time i heard that an semi open design like 668B gives you a better surround feeling. Is that so?

This is genuinely the first time that I hear someone mention the paper tissue trick on youtube. It honestly works and it's how I "fixed" a set of headphones that liked too much treble a few years ago, except that I discovered it by accident cause my ears kept getting sweaty in the summer and didn't want to stain the material so I used a tissue, and it really improved the quality of the audio and have been doing this trick ever since. 😀

@WhiteHartMart 8 жыл бұрын
JAKOSHUA I did that and it works fine for the audio and mic. Only thing is the weight of the adaptor and the design of the connection on the headphones means the mic isn't very stable and moves around a bit. It also sits a bit low but the VModa is so flexible you can get around that.

Thats what i thought aswell. But i still chose to buy a modmic, because the headphones have a small cable poking out and the vmoda mic would move around alot. However there is a alternative for the modmic from massdrop, called massdrop minimic. It also uses adhesive instead of plugin and they also cost about $25. The sound quality isnt as good and it doesnt block out the background noise as well as modmic but its still pretty good for its price.

The head set itself is great. BUT,,,,,,the cable that goes from the headset to the pc isn't forever. If you buy this new, then tie a stress knot around the side of the head set because otherwise you will have my situation where the head set will only work in one ear after a year of Heavy usage.(using it, tripping over it) This might apply to any headset. I replaced the cable with an Insiginia Audio extension cable and I'm not happy so for with Insignia.

Velour pads don't add bass, if anything they remove some. What you heard was probably the effect of break-in, where the sound changes (usually in a good way) during the first few tens of hours of usage in susceptible speakers and headphones (and the Superlux HD668B are some of the most susceptible in the headphone category).

Comparable soundstage and mids to DT990, but bass is less. And comfort is WAY better on the Beyerdynamic. The Superlux HD668B's are the first "Real Headphones ive ever owned" Because the headphones i had before these were crappy Dollar general ones that had the Padding Fallout and i had basically hard plastic on my ear, And i do have to say the sound is indeed amazing, I prefer the Semi open back it has because whenever i use Closed back headphones it almost feels like the sound is inside my head and its just generally uncomfortable, The only downsides i would have to put on them would ofcouce be the Leather thats on the headphones, After a while the leather breaks and chips, I would DEFFINITLY recommend buying a replacement pair of Ear Pads for it, And Secondly, Sadly the Fact that these use a Male port instead of a Female port is a downside, Having a wire on the headphones means that if the Wire Breaks the headphones can just be ruined and actually on mine the Protective layer of Plastic Snapped in 2 so now there is a Gap were the wire is free to twist and Dangle in Ways you dont want a delicate wire to be in, They still work fine however i plan just to put some electrical Tape on them and that should work fine enough, Another downside to the wire is the fact that if ur like me and a "Little" Clumsy and you accidentally drop them off your desk the Headphones wont As i would prefer just drop on the floor because They can handle the 4 Foot drop but instead the wire will get Pulled which as i said before is Dangerous.

I bought these headphones for gaming after watching this video and oh my God man were you right. These headphones are far better than all other 22 pairs of "true" gaming headphones I own. I own multiple headsets from companies such as Razer, Corsair, hyperx, turtle Beach, logitec, steelseries arctis, hp Omen, msi, Asus, lucid sound, Astro, Acer, creative sound, you name a company and I probably have a headset or two made by that company. For 50 bucks this headset out performs all of them. some of them I even spent upwards of 150-200 bucks for. Granted mine has now been modded with a gaming mic, upgraded earpads, an amp and top of the line audio cables bringing the total to just over $250 for my set up with this headset but it was all worth it. @@kabalisme I have several amps and I use all of them depending on which one I feel like using at the time being. Here is a list of several portable amps I highly recommend using for these when gaming or playing music without breaking the bank Portable Amps 1. Fiio a3 2. Fiio a5 3. Fiio e10k 4. Cayin c5 5. Earstudio es100 6. Topping nx1s 7. Fiio e18 8. Nano iDSD Black label 9. Topping nx4 10. smsl audio sap-5 11. Smsl audio sap-7 12. Fiio e12 13. Sony pha1a 14. Topping nx2 15. Fiio a1 16. Neoteck headphone amp Desk amp 1. Smsl ad18 2. Smsl audio sap-2 pro I know that's quite the list I gave there and I'm sorry for that but I've tried every single one of those and still own most of them to this day. I highly recommend all of them. I gave that big of a list because I'm not sure what your budget is and in that list there are priced to fit everyone. Ranging from $30 all the way up to $250. Although I gave several different brands there I suggest more than most fiio brand Amps as they are very easy to get started with and great for first time amp users and are very cost effective. You can't go wrong with a fiio portable amp. They are great. The fiio a1/a3/a5 and e10k are amazing cost effective first timer amps. I hope this helps

Great review, I bought these headphones based on this video. Only have one rather big issue, those head pads aren't doing anything for me. They get pushed beyond the plastic so I'm basically wearing a headset with two plastic pieces digging into my skin. Is my head just freakishly huge or what, I don't see anybody ells mentioning this problem?

These, gaming headsets suck balls. Grab Superlux and some random $5 mic and you're good to go. Or you could take something from ISK. It's on sale at Gearbest btw www.gearbest.com/headsets/pp_279992.html?vip=1028038 It's about 12 dollars cheaper over there.

@zankeikizannanji9545
@zankeikizannanji9545 7 жыл бұрын
I don't think so.. Those Phillips headphones are only 32ohms. And I've read about those on Head-Fi, seems like those headphones have non-replaceable ear pads. At least Superlux has universal design, so you can use AKG K240 pads with it and replica pads are quite cheap. You can get cheap pads on Aliexpress for $2-3. If you really want something with the similar price, get yourself a ISK MDH9000 or Marantz MPH-2 or maybe LyxPro HAS-30. These three are all replicas, but they are quite an upgrade from Superlux. However these are not open headphones, so this sucks. I personally would go with Superlux, they are built pretty good. My old Superlux HD681B has been serving me for nearly 3 years now. But I did order Superlux HD688B few days ago, because my friend has those and they sound so much better!

He means tissue paper that you use after taking a dump (literally). It muffles the sound from the driver (headphone) so that the treble (highs) is not as shiny

@alexanderjarvis9827
@alexanderjarvis9827 7 жыл бұрын
Choa Park I have the Samson SR850 and SR950, which are rebrands of the Superlux HD668b and HD669, just with velour earpads, permanently attached wire, and an AKG style self-adjusting headband. The closed back variant pushes back the mids a bit compared to the SR850 and the close back nature fills out the low end
@alexanderjarvis9827
@alexanderjarvis9827 7 жыл бұрын
The low end has better extension and reaches into the sub-bass whereas it doesn't on the open back variant. The closed back is more linear and balanced than the open back but they are more alike than different. I really like both and I used both regularly even though I own more expensive headphones and earphones like the Philips SHP9500, Pioneer SE-A1000, and the Hifiman RE-400. I recommend both headphones. I would look for the Samson variants to see if you can snag a deal as they tend to be significantly cheaper than the Superlux

thanks, I think they are really two different kinds of headphones. with these being open back there is more clarity and space in the sound where the 598Cs have more bass and a warmer sound. both are great but they are different. The 598 you could use in public without bothering anyone where these you would have everyone around you listening to your music

Not to mention the 598cs is closedback so there is some insulation going on, so the soundstage of the hd668b is wider, but the imaging on the 598cs is still better in imaging.

Wtf I had these headphones on and after wearing them for like an hour I kid you not, I'm not even joking. . . my right ear started bleeding like crazy. I lift up my hand to scratch my ear and it returns to me with blood all over it. It bled WAY more than I expected, the blood was running down my neck too. After further inspection I noticed it was a cut that was behin my ear. How did it get there? I HAVE NO IDEA. I have no idea if this was actually related to the headphones or something else, but this has never happened in m life and it happened after I was wearing these headphones. I highly doubt it was the headphones though, there was nothing sticking my ear and they weren't even that uncomfortable ( I was using stock ear pads by the way).

I also found a red spot behind my opposite ear in the same spot where I got the cut on my other ear. Further evidence to support my theory, I think it's safe to say it was just the headphones clamping my glasses too hard.
