In an intriguing anecdote from the making of "Superman" (1978), Roger Moore recounted in his autobiography that he witnessed a fascinating phenomenon involving the film's star, Christopher Reeve. Moore observed Reeve walking through the Pinewood Studios canteen in full Superman attire, causing a commotion of adoring female fans in his wake. However, when Reeve donned his Clark Kent disguise and walked through the same canteen, no one even glanced in his direction. Interestingly, this phenomenon mirrors the real-life experience of Harold Lloyd, a famous silent film actor who, when not filming and without his signature round glasses, went completely unrecognized by the public. Lloyd's own experience served as inspiration for the character of Clark Kent, who uses his glasses as a means of concealing his true identity from the public. #shorts #superman #didyouknow #moviefacts #moviedetails #supermanlegacy

Most Superman fans never needed a KZbin video to get it. His glasses were always genius in relaying the moral of how blind the common people are to something so simple

Early on in the comics, it is said that he has an inherent psychic ability. He’s not aware of it but his sense of wanting to be disguise makes some disguised. Like a super advance camouflage. Simply, I don’t want you to recognize me so I psychically make it where you can’t, but I am unaware that I do the action.

@@005JR8funny thing is that when I took my glasses off at work to clean them, a coworker told me I looked like a totally different person. I think a factor is others seeing the glasses as a part of your face. To them, the glasses are the same as your nose and mouth. Especially if you never take them off. That’s why whenever Lois is trying to figure out if they are the same, she draws glasses on a pic of Superman.

No disrespect to the other actors who played Superman (and Kent), but Reeve was excellent at being a bumbling nerd and then being a superhero. The hair, shoulders/chest, demeanor, and attitude between the two characters showed that Reeves was a great actor.

Because he created that. He made what we know as Clark Kent. George Reeves was a great Superman to his credit but his Clark was mild mannered but still kind of Alpha Chris Reeve hunched his shoulder and looked constipated. He acted goofy. Every time people argue how the glasses don’t work and say “how can they not recognize him without the glasses?” acting like they’re so intelligent. It’s just so superficial. I mean are you kidding me? Dean Cain and Tyler Hoechilin barely did anything to change their persona when in Clark Kent disguise. Reeve nailed it. Not only did the glasses work but his performance made people think he was just a bumbling geek.

All you need to do to understand how the disguise can actually work is _watch Christopher Reeve's performance._ It's a lot more than just putting on a pair of spectacles; it's a total transformation of mannerisms, posture, body language, and overall demeanor. And Christopher Reeve is the only actor who has ever given a live action performance of Kal El/Clark Kent/Superman and _actually accomplished it._ Every other actor I've ever seen playing him hasn't really done anything to differentiate between Clark and Superman aside from putting on the glasses. For example, there is _absolutely no difference_ between Henry Cavill's portrayal of Clark and Superman, and it basically makes it seem like a joke that no one can tell. Plus in more modern comics, there's the fact that most people don't actually think that Superman even _has_ a secret identity; he doesn't wear a mask like the Batman, he doesn't try to hide his appearance in any way. From the perspective of most citizens of Metropolis, Superman seems to always be everywhere helping people, so it seems to just about everyone like he wouldn't even _have the time_ to have a secret identity or life outside of being Superman.

I think it would be more like, "Hey! Wow! You got the Superman costume on! Cool! That's what you'll look like as Superman in the movie!" and, "That's just the actor with street clothes and glasses, so no big deal. No one's ever going to ask me if I saw Reeves in street clothes and glasses."
