So sad that so many of these actors and actresses aren't here anymore but it puts a smile on my face to see those who still are. Larry Hagman is one actor who I am upset I missed out on meeting as I had to work the weekend of the 30th anniversary of Dallas. I was at Southfork the weekend before as I was based in Texas at the time and would have gone back the next week but I had a gig in Canada and couldn't go. My ex wasn't born when Dallas was at it's heights so she didn't understand what I was so excited about.

Brilliant video! I remember this film so well I was about 18 or 19 I think, I'm 61 now and keep seeing people off TV or Film/Music that I haven't seen for years and it knocks me out to see how they have changed, how old they look, I have a good friend I was in a band with when we were 17 that I still know now and he hasn't changed that much to me as I see him all the time but I saw my first girl friend from that same era online a year or so ago and somebody had stolen this gorgeous young blonde girl and replaced her with someone who was old! I know she would think the same if she saw me, all you guys out there who are between 17 and 35 enjoy every bloody moment! I spent too much time arguing and trying to make money and woke up one day and youth had gone! I still feel 19 I still listen to rock music I still love to live but I know that in 20 years there is a good chance I may be dead and I look at how close 20 years ago was how well I remember it and it scares the crap out of me! Age sucks! ..

The first one with Christopher Reeve is the best! The director even said that he didn’t think it would ever get as big as it got, but it just became so popular. The sequels were good, but,like with the 2nd one, I own two. A Ricard Donner one and a Richard Lester one. I think they got Lester because he was, I guess owed two films and he got the two sequels but Richard Donner did such a better job at working with these actors and actresses. Miss Christopher and Margot so much.

All these actors /actresses who have played superheroes don't even come close to Christopher Reeves playing Superman. He was the living embodiment of the Superman character. Even the actors on set commented that seeing Reeves in his Superman costume on set was a sight to behold what with his tall, impressive physique and striking good looks. I was an avid reader of the DC comics and Reeves managed to pull of Superman's character (and Clark Kent) remarkably well and this is coming from someone who is extremely critical of what Hollywood has done to the DC and Marvel superheroes. The only other actors that got close to the real characters was Tom Hiddleston who played Loki, Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine and Heath Ledger playing Joker. To me, Christopher Reeves was Superman and the best.
@larey125 жыл бұрын

‘You’ll Believe a Man can Fly’ .... Hands down the greatest superhero ever made and yes, I’m including Dark Knight, Endgame etc.. You need to remember, the special effects were groundbreaking and the scenes where Superman takes flight accompanied by that immortal John Williams score, just transcended everything else. To this day, I’ve not experienced a reaction from an audience like when Superman rescues Lois and catches the helicopter. The film also has an all time great cast. Getting Brando was an unbelievable coup and Hackman was just wonderful as Lex as well as Ford, Beattie, Trevor Howard, Terence Stamp and a who’s who of great character actors. Grounding it all though, is Christopher Reeve. Has any actor, before or since, been so perfectly cast? His performance is a timeless classic and you completely buy him as both Superman and perhaps even more impressively, Clark. Outstanding film.

Very touching video such great actors here ! Also its hard to believe Marlon Brando was so incredibely handsome at 54 years of age ! Also Terence Stamp (General Zod) still looks very good even for 81+ old ! Christopher Reeve, will always be in our hearts as the Real Superman,may their souls Rest in Peace.

I still remember watching this movie at the theater and when superman makes his first appearance... wow! And the theme, perfect, so perfect in fact that Hollywood has used it for every superman movie since. Christopher Reeves will forever be Superman.

I am reminded of an interview the late Hume Cronyn did in his final years. The interviewer asked questions about his late wife, Jessica Tandy, and all the others he had known like Jack Benny, David Niven, Humphrey Bogart and others. At first Cronyn was alright with the questions but after a while he began to become a little reluctant to respond. The interviewer noticed this and asked if there was a problem. Cronyn said not really but it was a little upsetting for him. He then explained that the questions reminded him of all the people who made his life what it was and how he felt like the last dinosaur, the rest were all dead and gone. You had to see the look on his face to get the full impact of what he was saying. He wasn't far off tears. He was the last and he was so tired and lonely without the company of all those who had made his life what it was and the only things left to him were his memories and the long wait...............

That’s one sad story. Thanks for sharing. Superman is a film that brings back so much memories for me and others. A time when the internet was not yet available and people watch whatever was on tv. So often then not it gave people an opportunity to comment on it when catching up with families and friends etc. Time fly...

Well said. My Dad who has since passed, used to say that when the great ones start to go, it's only a matter of time before it's your turn. I was a teen when he said this, with my whole life ahead of me. I'm only now beginning to realize how profound those words turned out to be in my mid sixties.

I remember long ago an elderly Stan Laurel being interviewed. He said he never watches his wonderful old films. He said it's too much "like looking at a bunch of bloody ghosts".
