It's not that Williams song isn't fantastic. It's one of the best super hero pieces ever. But that's not what this movie is. It's the same mistake Whedon mad with justice League. He fed into the nostalgia so much that it completely missed the mark and became a distraction that helped make a good movie into something altogether forgettable. But I still like that we are in a time fans can do this stuff​@@PopcornandVinyl

Every movie, no matter how good or how bad the movie is is enhanced. The experience is enhanced when the right score is made for the movie so many movies that potentially were good. I have been impacted by the score that was written for them not giving enough life to the scenes. I’ll be honest in my opinion I wasn’t too jazzed about this trailer not that the trailer didn’t look good, but they’re attempt to try to bring nostalgia with this modern electronic guitar version take of the original theme doesn’t work. It would’ve been better to use a completely original score rather than try to take the original Superman score and do something modern with it. There is nothing wrong with using such an iconic piece from John Williams to advertise a trailer of this nature just watching this trailer with the John Williams score made that movie looks so much better than it originally did and has me stoked to go see the movie. Now what they do with the soundtrack will set the tone of the entire movie. A good movie consist of three fundamental things a great story, great acting, and movie direction, and a great score. You’ve gotta have those three things. On a sidenote, I still have questions about the suit, but it’s growing on me. Thank you for this work. It was incredibly well done

I watched this Erik Edit of the trailer before seeing the actual official one. The Erik Edit got the hairs on the back of my neck tingling and the eleven year old in me cheering. The official trailer sadly did not. Outstanding Erik 😃

It is so much better that I can't help but think they used that guitar version simply to mute the feelings a little bit since this is only a teaser trailer. I'd bet dollars to donuts that the next trailers will have the original music.

I would want them to do it like a Bond movie...there's new theme for that particular movie, however, the 007 theme is still used at least once in each movie. I was hoping maybe this theme when superman opens his shirt and does the first save of the movie? then they can do the John Murphy theme the rest of the time. 🙂

Superman represents hope while Lex Luthor represents hate. It is time for Superman to have an epic comeback with his new feature film. We all need more memorable movies that can bring us joy, wonder and fortitude. We need an epic struggle between good versus evil which can bring us many surprises along the way. For future live action Superman films one film should introduce Metallo and Bizarro while another film could introduce Parasite, Atomic Skull and Livewire.

Yes, agree. Better 1000%. I was 7 when I saw the original in theaters and this gave me all the necessary chills. The 'official' trailer did not. It's pathetic that the filmmakers don't seem to grasp the emotional connection music has with film.

Holy cow they made him mega weak in this movie. Like old Man of Steel (The comic series.) levels of weak from right after Crises on Infinite Earths. This is not the Superman I want to see. Even poor Krypto is weak.

As great as the Williams score is, you can't just plop it over random footage it wasn't designed for. People do this all the time and it never works. The music by itself might be better compared to the music used in the trailer, but in so way, shape or form does it make the trailer itself better by laying the music over it. It's a square peg into a round hole. Anyone who thinks otherwise is just blinded by nostalgia as far as I'm concerned. Not to mention the fact the trailer music is literally a rendition of the Williams theme. Yes, the guitar is take it or leave it, but it turns over to an orchestral rendition as well. Are people really that stuck in the past that you can't take an updated version of the Williams theme?

You see, I didn't just "plop" down some music over random footage. I actually spent time picking cues that would fit the tone and emotions of the trailer; I sped up and slowed down some of the footage to match the timing of the cues I picked, and I added sound effects. Talk about being blinded by nostalgia; what do you think that guitar version of Williams' theme was there for? That's a massive kick of nostalgia. In my case, I picked better music that drives that nostalgia hit into the stratosphere. And that trailerized version of the Superman theme in the original trailer is god awful! Williams' theme doesn't need to be updated! But hey, what I did was a fun exercise that, by looking at the comments section, people really enjoyed, which brings ME a lot of joy! If you didn't like it, so be it, but don't accuse me of just plopping something down. I take great pride in my work, whether cutting a feature film or creating a silly alternate trailer for an upcoming superhero film.
