Well, if you _did_ "have a type," then Christopher Plummer would definitely be a surprise to me. Perhaps he has a grandson you can look into! :P I've never watched "The Sound of Music," but I've seen him in other movies. He seemed to be a pretty good actor. It's been a long time since I've seen "Grease," so I pulled it up. The look of the "early Olivia" reminds me of those two ladies in my Saigon Kick video that you'd commented on a couple of years ago, that you enjoyed their appearance in that video as well!

I agree: those old-school diners were cool! Most diners here in the States today are all full of television screens and digit, flashing, gaudy signs. I'm a simple man who likes simple things! Plus, I live in rural Iowa, so most of the diners around here are pretty "homey" by comparison! Well, if you didn't know, Clark ("geek boy") is actually secretly Superman in this movie -- so that bully guy didn't stand a chance! Anyway, I really appreciate the visit, and hope you're keeping yourselves protected amid that new strain of nonsense going on in the UK!

Actually, this scene didn't even besmirch Clark/Superman's character as an act of revenge. It's more like a delayed act of self-defense -- now that he's got his strength back, he does what he would have done the first time, when the bully was an aggressor who acted without provocation.

@@davidmalton3984 I'll grant you that the main reason that the scene showing Clark beating up the bully remained in the film was to give the audience the visceral pleasure of watching Our Hero lay into a pure creep. None of us have superpowers; ALL of us have had to face bullies at one time or another. (It's obvious from the comments made by the other people in the diner that they loathe this guy as much as Clark does). And you're right -- two wrongs DON'T make a right -- but, balanced against that, is the principle set forth so elegantly by the Russian-American writer Tatyana Tolstaya: "When a man sees a wolf about to devour his child, he does not refrain from taking his gun down from the wall out of a concern over animal rights. And if in fact he DOES refrain from taking his gun down for that reason, he is doing the wolf's work."

Agreed. It is one of the few scenes I had issues with. Sure, who hasn’t wanted to get back at a bully. But Superman was supposed to best a shining example, not lower himself to petty revenge. The scene in Man of Steel where he destroys a man’s truck is barely justified as he prevents the man from hurting others by driving drunk. Still a bit of overkill.

I'm anti violence but this bully was a 1 dimensional nasty piece of work.Clark didn't attack him in a brutal manner like he did to clark but rather humiliated him in a slap stick fashion that wasn't too violent and brutal. He needed to be taught a lesson and be humbled and see that actions have consequences. It's a good moral. Had clark attacked him in a brutal way, I'd agree with you and others, but he didn't. He really let the bully off easily.

The guy eating the pie is the only best part of this scene, Clark going to the bar in Smallville on lois and clark dealing with the guy that hit his son and pull a gun on his wife is better then this scene

Clark gives up his super powers so he can be with Lois. Then this bully bashes him. He is needed as Superman, so he has to go back to his Fortress of Solitude to get his powers back. This is his revenge on the bully.

Whenever people talk about Henry Cavil destroying that guys rig in Man of Steel, for groping and molesting that barmaid, and claiming that it was "Totally unlike superman to ruin a guys life like that" I put them to this scene... This... This is just horrible. That man is probably either scarred for life... Or, best case scenario, died quickly after this.
