He however views them the same way humans view ants. He doesn’t go out of his way to stomp them, but a couple of casualties and minor destruction doesn’t bother him, and he knows he can’t control it. He’s still surprisingly gentle. He only killed 8 people in GvK when he mowed down the Floridian factories, and made sure to not stomp on a boy who was playing on an island where he fought with Scylla.

I don't think it was so much that Superman destroyed the city that was the issue, it's that Synder's version of Superman just didn't really seem to care all that much about anyone other than Lois. It was the emotional whiplash of the thousands of unnamed Metropolis humans being killed in their battle without note and without any reaction from Supes, and yet he freaked out when he was (ostensibly) forced to kill Zod. This was also after two hours of a mopey, sad, entitled, emo Superman who seemed like he only saved people because he felt obligated to, not because he genuinely cares about human life. That was the criticism.

Superman is only a hero for humanity, maybe even just metropolis. He’s still inherently an alien just trying to make his place in the world. Godzilla has seen it all. He’s seen multiple eras, extinctions, events, catastrophes. He knows what this planet truly is, what the history of life on earth has been. He knows what it truly needs, and he knows how the ecosystems must function. He doesn’t view humanity as perfect, though he doesn’t see them as an invasive species either. He’s seen them evolve from little squirrel-like creatures to highly advanced beings with immense technology, and he’s proud of their achievements. Superman, what has he seen? Barely anything. His views as a hero and paragon of protection are extremely shallow compared to that of Monsterverse Godzilla. Besides, I think I’d rather have some aliens enslave us than have some gigantic 8-legged bug monsters slowly stomp us down to bits and devour every last resource we have.

@@Mohamadtheman I never said he wasn't. You seem to be failing to understand so I'm going to clear it up for you. If you see a being like Godzilla, a giant lizard that is taller than buildings, and it turns out that this monster is a good guy, you're happy. This thing can destroy cities while just walking, so while there was a lot of damage, he was a giant monster, facing other giant monsters. When you have someone like Superman, that you know is a hero, and they are fighting other people sized beings and manage to destroy a city in the process, that's less reassuring. Especially because if Superman just dealt with them before they got to Earth as HISHE pointed out, then it would have never happened. Godzilla couldn't really deal with the MUTOs ahead of when he dealt with them.

The difference is that Godzilla is a giant lizard fighting another giant monster, he can’t push the fight away from the city, and he can’t exactly be careful Meanwhile Superman probably could’ve pushed his fight with Zod away from the city, and safely fought somewhere else
