Good episode imo. It seems like “Edge” or Tal-Rho is an original character but using elements of other various comic characters like H’el or The Eradicator ( which was name dropped here). He is basically a dark mirror to Clark , someone who landed on this planet as a kid (though older then Kal) but only saw the worst of humanity and didn’t have someone like the Kent’s to raise him. I thought Adam Rayner did a good job..he’s been relegated to mysterious & shady businessman for most of the season thus far that it was nice to see him express pain at the loss of his own world and his brother taking humanity’s side. I also thought Emmanuelle Chriqui did a good job..she really made Lana and Lara feel like 2 different people and had a nice motherly warmth towards Clark. Also , I’m loving Jonathan stepping up and showing how much like his dad he is..even without powers.

Superman's mom's name is Lara Lor-Van. Kryptonian females take their father's name as their surname. So, her father would be Lor-Van. Just the same with Kara Zor-El. Her father being Zor-El. Just adding insight to the mythos.

@@gabrielsouto6031 Lor-Van and Zor-El were characters in the comics. There are other examples of this naming structure in the comics. As for Kal naming his daughter. There is an example, from the Injustice comics, where he was going to have a daughter. Her name was Lara Lane-Kent. Though this would have been her "human" name. As far as I could tell, that was her only name given. Whereas Superman does have a son, in the main universe, named Jon Kent, with his Kryptonian name being Jon-El. So, given that he did give his son a Kryptionian name. I would say most likely. As for Mon-El, he is a Daxamite. This might be a little more complicated to go into. From what I can tell, their naming structure is similar to modern day fashion of taking he last name of their parents. Which through marriage, would be the same name. But there may be examples that are different of this. Also, in the comics Mon-El is not his real name. That would be Lar Gand (which the Supergirl show used that as his father's name). He was given the name Mon-El due to landing on Earth on a Monday (Mon), and taking part of Superman's birth name (El). I know that is extremely cheesy, but that's comics for you, lol. There are also versions where he is a future descendant of Superman, being from the 30th century. The same time as the Legion of Super-Heroes. I don't have a definitive answer for them. Considering that would be two different cultures joining in marriage. Even though, Daxamites are Kryptionians (they are in the comics anyway, can't remember about the show). And I know this went into a lot of detail. But was kind of needed, sort of, lol. Also, I just love digging into the lore.

The Jor-El in the Fortress of Solitude isn't just a consciousness, it is an A.I. thats been merged with Jor-El's consciousness. The Sunstone Crystals that made the Fortress are basically advanced computers. Because of this, Jor-El can't just put his consciousness into it without an A.I. to use as a likeness to him, otherwise he is just putting data from his mind on a computer. Dr. Dabney Donovan in DC is a geneticist and one of the founders of Project Cadmus, the genetic engineering project that created Kon-El, the Superboy, and the villain Dubbilex. He is often associayed with villainy. Dr. Emil Hamilton on the other hand is one of Superman's closest allies. He helped Superman create his Phantom Zone Projector and created a visor that duplicated all of Superman's vision powers for use by Kon-El. He has been his scientific advisor for many long years, filling in a role similar to that of Lucius Fox for Batman.

I have a theory about that. Fans of the show who are also familiar with the comics will have picked up on something which must have been deliberately written into the show. John Henry Irons A.K.A. Steel, Jordon Kent (A version of Superboy) and the Eradicator. All are main characters from a very famous arc in the Superman comics known as "Reign of the Supermen", the third and final arc in "The Death of Superman" storyline. The quick rundown is after Superman is killed by Doomsday in the first arc, and the second arc showing readers a World without Superman, the third arc has 4 Supermen appear each claiming to be the original Superman and you guessed it; Steel, Superboy, and the Eradicator are three of them with the fourth being Cyborg Superman, who seeks to destroy Superman's reputation by convincing people he is the real Superman before turning on them. Actually, that also sounds familiar, sounds a lot like Henry Iron's Superman. What's even more intriguing is Jordon has yet to adopt the mantle of Superboy, Irons has yet to adopt his mantle of Steel, and the Eradicator has yet to become his comic counterpart. Almost like the writers were setting them up for something perhaps next season... My theory is the big fight they might be devoting themselves to is going to be their take on "The Death of Superman", for the season 1 finale. While that might be far-fetched, I don't think it's unlikely or impossible to use Doomsday on the show, Smallville was allowed to use Doomsday and Doomsday also appeared in full on Krypton, so I'm sure the writers could use him if they wanted to. I doubt Doomsday will appear in the movies anytime soon. The thing in the comics is Doomsday killing Superman is not a very complicated storyline, so the writers would have a lot of freedom in writing their own plot surrounding that event (The Morgan Edge plotline) while also setting up the pieces for the second season which will adapt "The Funeral for a Friend" and more importantly the "Reign of the Supermen" arc, where Jordon steps up to become Superboy and Henry Iron's becomes Steel to battle the Eradicator and Cyborg Superman. As for how Doomsday could be introduced, it could be a creation of Edge as a weapon to help his Kryptonians wipe out humanity. My conclusion and suspicion, this fight at the very least will "kill" Superman in the finale. At the most, it will be Superman VS Doomsday. Season 2 will be Reign of the Supermen.

This episode is a great example of why this show is good. There's a lot of comic book fuckery in this episode. Everything from seeing Kal-El's mom to ultra Kryptonian beam attack. However, the comic book ridiculousness doesn't feel ridiculous because of the character writing. Even in the ridiculous comic book moments in the show feel grounded.

I really really enjoyed this episode, it was intense, had me deep in the damn feels, I was literally making dumplings while watching this episode on my laptop in the kitchen, it took my emotions all over the place in its intensity, it was heartbreaking, sad, badass, amazing, awesome, incredible, loved all the actors in this episode, they literally gave this episode their all, actually they give their all in all 10 eps, so very looking forward to E11, this is my one and only favorite Superhero tv series ever for me...

I honestly really like the idea that the alternate evil Superman most likely turned on humanity because he had a similar offer from his half brother to see his mother again. And I feel like that works so well. What I mean is, evil Superman isn't just bad because he's bad, he just decided to priotise his family over humanity. Also we know that in the universe he turned on humanity he didn't have a family with Lois, and both his adoptive parents had probably passed away, meaning he probably had no personal family connection to humanity. It's a cool what if scenario, which actually directly effects the canon timeline with the whole Steel storyline.

The xkryptonite are data crystals, the consciousnesses aren’t in that machine. The machine draws the essence encoded on the crystals just like the crystals used in the fortress that hold Jor-El. The eradicator was meant to be a record of krypton and Rho corrupted its purpose. The only people in it would be the group working on the eradicator, she left the project when she found out what Rho was doing. Jor-El said he didn’t know anything about the eradicator because he wasn’t part of its creation. Again, using human language for things causes confusion, we don’t know what eradicator means in kryptonian so it seems strange if you keep applying our language to it. It wasn’t just data transferred, the crystals hold genetic mapping as well as mental, it’s a complete record of the being recorded and the machine altered the dna of the recipients to that of the people on the crystals

I think Edge was on Steels universe, but without lois and kids, Supes joined them. Then crisis happened, Steel slipped thru the fabric of the antimatter wave in an attempt to lure and kill superman in the wave itself (while earth tries to escape maybe?). Now im assuming that when the realities and earths got fused, they put in Edge and his backstory into this reality along with all the other mergings and creations that came with it. But Steel is technically from pre-crisis, while everyone else is a slightly or heavily altered version of themselves. Even the paragons lives and backstories were changed tho they got to retain their previous memories tho they are either hard to remember or sometimes get jumbled in with current ones. I cant really think of anyone other than Ollie/Spectre who is tecnically left from pre-crisis.

I had a theory before that superman wearing black suit on Henry Irons earth was because he got killed or hurt or depowered and someone took over his body... Reason is that he wears the black suit usually after dying or whatever because it absorbs more sunlight... My theory back then that it wasn't superman who went evil but Morgan Edge or Zod took his body. Now i think it zeta rho, Edge's father taking over superman body and destroying Henry's Earth

I find the way Kryptonite is used in this show problematic. Green Kryptonite is poisonous to Kryptonians because they are Kryptonians not because they have powers. A human with a Kryptonian consciousness and powers would still genetically be a human and so Kryptonite should have no effect. If X-Kryptonite doesn't just "magically" give powers but instead actually alters the genetic structure of the recipients to make them Kryptonian then removing the Kryptonian consciousness alone wouldn't remove the powers. I need to rewatch the episode and see if it was mentioned what exactly the Eradicator process does.
