I maintain that, as far as live-action interpretations go, Superman and Lois has achieved that fine balance of hopeful, yet serious tone. While I love both Superman the Movie and Man of Steel, the episodic format of Superman and Lois allows it to have multiple tones that you can't really get in a film.

This is something I wanted from the previous dc series, have different tones for different characters. That's something WB/zack snyder didn't understand. Not every character needs to be dark and serious that tone needs to fit with a certain character and I'm glad James Gunn is actually understanding that. Remember he did the guardian of the galaxy trilogy

@@handsuporillshoot381 I tried watching Guardians of the Galaxy and Suicide Squad .. I turned off GOTG in the third act and The Suicide Squad somewhere in the middle. I can't stand his movies. Slither was pretty good though .. Total shlock but good shlock. Very self aware. I don't like his superhero spoofs though. It certainly won't work with Superman. I think it's going to flop hard.

I never understood why the Snyderverse was cancelled. With a few exceptions, for me, was perfect. We are'nt in 1978 anymore. The WB and DC were ruthless for both Snyder and Cavill.

@manofsteel3396 There's usually some levity in Superman stories, like with the Daily Planet staffers, even when the story has very serious themes. And that's fine. He's didn't write it as a comedy, though, so that's good.

I don't know why people say MoS is dark. It's not dark. Peacemaker is dark - it's main character was forced to murder his own brother by his neonazi dad and has struggled with it his whole life. MoS is just somber and whiney and pretentious. And really oddly gay.

Peacemaker have a fun way to approach the character and is also serious but is a correct mix of comedy and drama... Man of steel is full drama. don't confuse the tone of a movie with the theme treated.

Superman has a sense of humor. I remember reading comics from the golden age, from the bronze age, silver age, 80s, 90s, 2000s, and I can tell you that superman does joke around sometimes. Sure he's not a comedian but he can take a joke.

Guardians of the galaxy 3 was serious toned movie but i noticed that everytime a scene was emotional or serious, gunn would add a joke or humor right during the serious moment which i thought was unnecessary.

Superman has always had a light tone with humour it’s literally part of his disguise Clark Kent is goofy that’s the fucking point I cannot believe everyone thinks superman is this serious not smiles no jokes it’s literally a part of the character now he’s not fart joke goofy but he’s always been a lighter character that sometimes deals with serious tones that doesn’t make him an overly serious no cracking a smile character. This is like the Dark Knight going back to Adam West's Batman, not to thrilled w/ that. Superman comics lost popularity because he was to goody two shoes & wholesome (CORNY) & that's WHY they killed Superman in the comics to shake stuff up. Of course there the few who like the campy stuff, the money will talk & i don't trust ANYTHING Gunn says, he lies A LOT. I prefer the edgy stuff, even when i was a teenager which is why i gravitated towards the DC darker movies over the kids popular Marvel. Man of Steel was bad ass SUPERMAN to me, a matter of preference.

A good Superman movie shouldn't be a comedy. Even Christopher Reeves Superman movies weren't comedic. It should be heartfelt, yes serious, heroic and fun. NOT FUNNY. Superman IS NOT A JOKE CHARACTER. In all honesty, he could say that he's making the movie serious if he wants. The fact that his Superman is dressed like a colored rainbow with diapers and personally guaranteed to be comedic is enough for me to not watch it. That and Gunn tore up Snyder's new 52 best costume. There may be multiple, but that shows complete disrespect to Cavill's Superman. I'll just wait and save my money like everyone else should and wait for the inevitable Snyderverse return through Universal. Profits matter.

The story for this Superman is he's in a world with heroes already established. It would only make sense to introduce heros due to that. It's not like it's showing the main league here. It characters who a lot of people don't know. In a movie for who knows how long. It could just be 3 scenes we don't know so to judge it before a trailer even comes out it crazy.
