Brilliant that both Kal's parents were talking him out of it.. love this. Absolutely brilliant editing 👍🏻💯 but the scene is so daft. Why couldn't he be with lois and still be who he is...its movie plot dramatics i know...but still..and Lois should have told him "no don't do it man" Iove when jor-el looke at Lois with disgust, like.." you're not worth it" or "you could have convinced my only son not to".🦸 The best SUPERMAN.

thank you! yea, they don't exactly explain why. we can only infer (from watching other superhero movies) that superman's enemies will use their relationship against him

I think they said earlier in the movie that it would be extremely dangerous for a human and him to have sex, since he'd basically rip her apart. His ejaculation would probably blow her torso off her legs

Perhaps because Lois wouldn't be impressed with him being faster than a speeding bullet with everything that he does, and things shooting out of him at super speed could kill her.

It was infatuation on both sides, not really love. What was Lois willing to give up for him? Essentially this was the "last lesson" he needed to learn. I'm disappointed that her memory got erased because at least them they would have actually had to work out struggles together.

The Donner cut of this scene is the only time in the series where Superman was genuinely unlikable. He was at his MOST human here. Lucky Jor-El's ancient hologram ass was there to save him in the end. Deux Ex Machina dad for the win.

I don't know. I would have given my life if it would have saved my late lady's 😢😢😢😢😢 gone going on four years now. I've barely lived without her. Hurts as much now as it did then. She died with me holding her hand and her sister and I were with her to the end. Your answer might change if you well and truly love someone, see and be with them as they die and nothing you can do to stop it, help him or her or even ease their pain and then the final disposition of their remains be it burial, cremation, burial at sea or whatever their wishes seeing that person for the last time as their remains depart really drive the point home as their grave is filled, their body goes in the cremation machine, ashes and/or whole body committed to the deep or however it is done. Then their service. Many would give up anything not to experience that or reverse it.

@@TobeyFan1984 Yea, idk why Donner used that scene again. Lester's memory kiss ending is terrible, but all you have to do is just let Lois remember who Clark is. Do not understand why these 80s writers were so opposed to that concept

It's kinda funny, the Donner cut was a more traditionally masculine and patriarchal portrayal and the Lester cut was more matriarchal/feminist portrayal even down to the way Lois is dressed.
@roldanrosario8292Ай бұрын
It’s cool to analyze. I would just add the repower scene to the theatrical version and call it a day. Lester Cut is better because he had the use of the original cast to finish his movie.

All that power and Clark gave it up for his love for Lois for me personally that is very symbolic of how love is a power itself that I often believe strongly is the most human superpower of all Clark here in this scene he is CORRECT he served humanity for however many years and it is NOT selfish for him to want to settle down and be human like the rest of us I think is beautiful and touhing and epic acting from the GOAT that is Christopher Reeve!!!
@jamesdaniels80076 ай бұрын
But you’re ignoring the responsibility that he has. He became Superman to help people, and he’s not even considering the ramifications of his actions to become mortal. He is abandoning the responsibility that he took upon himself just so he can be with Lois (which is not a bad thing). It’s like making the decision to have a child, but abandoning the responsibility of raising that child to keep a party lifestyle and maintaining your own semblance of happiness and meaning. In this moment he feels that Lois gives his life meaning and purpose, but he soon realizes the mistake he made and returns to make things right and become Superman once again. It was a selfish action that nearly destroyed the world.

They lost the Holy Spirit, the inner Superman! This is what(Jesus) brought back to earth 🌎 not a religion. Jor El restored Clark back to what he lost! The inner Spirit his Holy Spirit. While the religious elements of Superman are inspired from Christ, I think you are reading far too much into a comic book hero to make a pseduo point of evangelizing and should stick to using the actual source material to properly evangelize (the Bible and the Gospels specifically).
