He's fine with C and D list characters. He butchered every single one of the Guardians characters to turn that into comedies. That works because there's not a strong connection to most of those characters or at least it's easy enough to separate the two. Of course, people should worry what he's going to do with Superman - it's one of THE main characters at DC. Overall, this looks solid.

When we were kids, my brother and I watched the George Reeves "Superman" TV show, along with the Adam West "Batman," after school on one of the local stations. I was 11-years-old when the Christopher Reeves movie came out and I remember watching it at my dad's when it was released on VHS. When I heard the John Williams theme in this trailer, I cried. This is the "Superman" I remember from my childhood.

We all need more memorable movies that can bring us joy, wonder and fortitude. We need an epic struggle between good versus evil which can bring us many surprises along the way. For future live action Superman films one film should introduce Metallo and Bizarro while another film could introduce Parasite, Atomic Skull and Livewire.

This guy legit looks like James Gunn saw the Snyder movies, thought "Fuck naw, gimme a minute" and started growing him in a tank. The Yamcha pose is a hilarious little nerd easter egg, shows he knows his audience. The aesthetic's there, they've kept the costumes bright, Mr. Terrific's got FAIR PLAY down his arms - like, Snyder openly said he doesn't like Superman as a character, and we watched that fart itself to death on screen. Gunn GETS Superman - "He is kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned", to quote the man himself - and there's nothing more promising than a director who gets, and who loves, the source material.
