This movie had a tonne of action in it and very difficult and expensive sequences that they could now do much cheaper budget wise and technology wise. Superman is much more alien like in this film, even in his appearance. I know people said he looked botox, but he did stand out as Superman. Brandon Routh was 6'4 and 225 pounds. That's a big man. Henry Cavil was smaller and they trained him much differently - smaller height wise. Cavil was on an insane diet and they had him doing cross fit like a mad man.

you answered your own question. he looked like he struggled to lift the plane because he was trying to match the speed of the planes' descent and slow it down so that he wouldn't just go through the plane it self. he could lift it easily as you saw him effortlessly lift the yacht filled with water when he saved lois. he can't let the plane down gently either because it would snap in 2. he is trying to use as much power as he can without going through as if it were an eggshell.

The show of power control here by superman is fantastic. Obviously he could have stopped the plane much sooner while in the sky but that would have compromised the plane's structure and probably split open the cabin killing all the passengers, so he had to gradually bring it to a halt.

Superman has something called touch telekinesis, where he applies force to the surface area of the whole object he’s carrying by one part. He basically does this when he carries buildings or carries huge cruise ships from the nose. And the could’ve also done the things where he gets under the plane and slowly straightens it out and lifting it from under slowly, very, very slowly.

When you have two unstoppable forces colliding, there is going to be collateral damage. Not to mention the World Engine and and Zod/his goons did most of said damage. The only time Superman might have indirectly killed anybody was when ZOD knocked HIM through buildings. Hell, the novelization made it clear that Superman was barely keeping up with Zod, and that the crazed general was trying to kill as many people as possible.

Whilst this superman film may have been rather dull and not great, man of steel is by no way the best superman film. It tried to capitalise on the success of the dark knight trilogy by making superman miserable and unconcerned with the safety of people. Batman acts the way he acts because he is batman. Superman is not batman. They are very different heroes, in very different places fighting very different battles. The way I see it, superman is a superhero, batman is more of a vigilante. What man of steel did was take away what people love about superman, basically turning it into a bad version of batman. And doing it badly. Still, fight scenes were cinematically impressive, but would have been far more like superman had he shown concern for people, rather than taking the fight with zod INTO THE MIDDLE OF A GODDAM POPULATED CITY MOST LIKELY KILLING HUGE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE.

Good movie. Not great but still good. Routh, Spacey and Langela were the best of this film. This scene was phenomenal. The movie started off great but then it went sideways. An hour of the film felt like nothing happened and Kate Bosworth wasn't a good Lois Lane. But overall I'd give it a 6/10. I'd prefer to watch Superman II, Superman I and Man of Steel.

I don't know, the only thing I didn't love about the movie was Lex Luthor's plan and the actor who played him. I don't understand why but I enjoyed the Soap-style Lois/Clark/Superman struggle. But I agree there should've been more punches. I felt the scene when he got the Kryptonite stuck in him was really powerful (oh the irony).

SpreadingtheMuse Please, Returns is nothing more than a retread of Donner's original film, which means it's a no brainer. Everything about Returns is nearly a carbon copy of the '77 film. He crashes in Kansas a ship. His first appearance in the film is saving Lois from an aircraft, Lex is working a real estate scam. Lex uses Kryptonite to stop Superman, Lex uses a beautiful woman to help him. A beautiful woman comes to Superman's rescue, saving him from the Kryptonite. Nearly the exact same movie.

Right after the scene where the plane hits the grass you get a close up of the captain. in the next scene right after that you see superman still touching the nose of the aircraft. So that couldn't have been what happened. Something else put out the fire.

For me the problem is not the color is everything else. The closed neck of the suit makes the cape atachment ugly, and the cape itself looks like a shower curtain. The boots looks likes biker one. The "S" shield being so smaller and raised up and the trunks so lowered down enlongated too mucha the torso section of the suit and made Brandon Routh to look slender and skinnier. The suit itself it´s a disaster.
