Part of the reason i like superman so much is that these rare moments show just how much restraint and self-control he really has He absolutely could kill literally anything that proves to be a threat without a challenge. It would be absolutely trivial for him to go full Light Yagami and just execute every criminal on the planet and make sure they never hurt anyone again What makes him a hero is that he doesn't let himself cross that line unless he has no other choice.
