Trailer establishes that this is a Superman that can get hurt and bleed, which makes the character more interesting. I believe this Superman will be akin to the character of Mark Grayson/Invinsible-powerful but not invulnerable.

Always tough to make Supes appear vulnerable but Gunn knows his DC lore backwards and forwards. I suspect Lex Luthor will have all sorts of deadly surprises to keep Superman on his toes.

@GeekinWithJamesHancock fun fact for you, I listened to an interview if you didn’t already know this that, Krypto is actually played by James Gunn’s dog that he adopted, I forget it’s name but, I thought that was a fun little tidbit for you if you didn’t know that already. Also, I got so many chills when John Williams iconic Superman theme started playing in the background with almost a synth wave or electronic guitar type sound to it which was so cool and that will definitely be utilized in the movie I’m sure because, why focus on it so much in the first trailer if you aren’t going to utilize it in the movie. I also have a theory that when we see Superman all bloodied and beaten and Krypto has to save him, I’m thinking that might be from Lex Luthor in his iconic Kryptonite Powered Armor that he has had in the comics in the past since, we know that Lex is the main villain and he’s played by Nicholas Hoult as we see in the trailer.

I feel this captures the vibes that non-comic book fans will glom onto. Boomers who took their kids to Reeves movies, and Gen-X/Millenials that watch the cartoon in the 90s. Watching this trailer, I felt a lump in my throat.. the feeling of hope overcoming travesty is heavy in this trailer. This is very much the trailer we need. And if this movie stays true to its trailer, this will be a VERY BIG movie. It will undo the damage a lot of us felt with the Zack Snyder Superman. A hopeful movie coming out one week after Independence Day. Genius move. Summer Blockbuster vibes all over. K, Gunn, you got my attention, now stick the landing. Also, this trailer highlights the difference between Superman and Batman. So, Gunn, just let Reeves handle Batman, he got this.

I recently saw the anime on hb....well, max. fascinating. anyway, back to the superman thing: yes, this gives me hope. hope it will not be too crowded with all those other characters, or that it`s long enough to justify including them in the story, whatever that may be. I kind of liked, some more, some less, all of fthe iterations (the Brendan one was sadly underrated), but this looks like a new beginning. I`ll surely be there on day one. It`s like a duty. `Cos my Dad will be there with me, from the skies, just as he was next to me when we saw the first one at the cinema.

I think, what made the hair on your arms stand up were mostly the music and just seeing this icon of freedom, morality and kindness again...but, to be honest, I find the trailer itself a little...unfocused?...I mean, how long is this movie going to be, so that ALL these characters are not just mere cameos - but fleshed out characters that serve a purpose and possibly even have something resembling a character arc...I don't think this all looks awful in any way, but just...all over the place....I'm getting a bit of ADHD energy here....I'd recommend ti watch the trailer without music, perhaps you get a similar impression then.. But - David Corenswet looks pretty good as Super...man?...boy?...c'mon, he DOES look a little young....but right now I think he's perfectly fine! Not as good as Henry Cavill, but...fine enough!! Lois looks on spot, very good casting choice!!👍🏻 Same goes for Lex Luthor ("Luthorcorp"? Isn't it.."Lexcorp"?) Krypto is cute as can be, and everything at least looks decent enough to me....I just hope, that the movie won't be as unfocused as the trailer is...don't just throw as much as possible to the wall and just hope that something might stick....but, we'll see, I guess...😉✊🏻👍🏻

1. The Justice League (a version not made up of the big 7 obviously)are assholes here and are going after Superman hard, from all indications. 2. Metamorpho is used to create kryptonite, just a guess. 3. Mr. Terrific is the leader of the JL and inflicts the most damage to him apparently. 4. The public have been fed a lot of anti Superman propaganda? 5. A lot of weird choices. Superman is being rescued by his dog, attacked by other “heroes “ and he’s not the powerful version he’s supposed to be. 🤔 6. Very little flying footage, Superman’s remarkable invulnerability is nowhere to be found in this trailer… except when rescuing the little girl. Great trailer though.

Mr. Terrific is an interesting one. I don't recall him showing up in most properties. That said, I hope they're not doing too much here. This is supposed to be Superman. At least they didn't come in swinging with Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman again. They're mixing this up by introducing lesser known characters first. Well, Green Lantern is pretty important. Hawkgirl is mostly well known for her appearance in Justice League. The only time I recall Mr. Terrific showing up in any recent-ish properties was a super loose adaptation in Arrow. And tbh he was really quite lame in that show.

The Michael Holt Mr. Terrific was a pretty big part of Justice League Unlimited and made his debut in the comics in 1979 but the original goes all the way back to the early Forties in the comics.

Maybe it's just me but I was totally underwhelmed. Apart from Krypto this contained nothing we haven't seen. CG looked terrible and uninspired design wise and overall the film has the ugly digital sheen of a TV show. Plus harking back to John Williams masterful score doesn't help differentiate this. For me nothing can top Donner's original - hell, it's title sequence alone is better than the entirety of most other iterations - and on the evidence of this trailer I'm far from convinced Gunn's take is going to be up there with it.
