About 95% of people that have reacted to this trailer, especially people over the age of 30, have teared up or outright cried, myself included. I'm a huge comic book fan, with Superman being my favorite DC character. I still believe Reeve is the quintessential Superman being able to convincingly portray 2 "different" people. I loved Cavill, and was sad to see him go, BUT being a comic book fan, I generally give every actor a chance. I don't believe in that BS that only one person can play a character. This looks so good.

Tear up every time I see it! For some reason my mind connects THIS Superman with the Reeve Superman. It’s not just the music because Superman Returns had it in spades. Routh and Cavill’s Supermen although great felt like different variations. This fellow in the trailer, somehow feels the real one has returned after all these years. Like he really came back like Luke did in Mando season 2.

I'm feeling bad by Henry Cavill, because he never had a real chance to play the Superman he could have been (Zack Snyder never understood what means to be the Man of Steel). And now, David Corenswet will return us to that time where "you will believe that a man can fly".

I showed my dad this teaser too. Now he doesn't really watch a lot of movies these days so I wasn't expecting much. His first reaction was when the guitar riff started, he said it sounded like Top Gun.😅 As for the rest of the trailer, he was really digging it until they started showing the other characters who he obviously doesn't know. But as a whole, he liked how this Superman looked.

As a DC fan, it feels good to be hyped for a DC movie for once (outside James Gunn's The Suicide Squad, and outside all of the great work done in Watchmen - best Snyder's work for DC -, The Sandman, Doom Patrol, Lucifer, Peacemaker, Constantine, The Batman, Joker and The Dark Knight trilogy)! To be fair. The Hollywood exec version that was forced onto Zack Snyder was bad. That is why Zack re-released it with his full vision intacked. The Snyder version is 4 hours long and is amazing. We get the full character development and enhance story. Forget the theatrical version. So the Snyder version of the Justice League will go down as the truly last great DCU entries. I'm very excited to see Gunn's version. It looks bright and has elements from the animated series as well as the earlier comic books. In the next trailer, I bet Gunn will show us the villain(s). I know a lot of rumors are out there, but I heard Supergirl will make an appearance. Could be made up. But if true, that would absolutely fit DC Comic Superman NO. 195. The suit style fits that as well. And I believe that issue had Brainiac in it. Although, not 100%.

Superman Returns was a movie that I had a lot of fun with when I saw it in the theater, because it was so styled after the Donner film, and it evoked feelings of seeing that movie on the big screen. On home video, there's no reason to revisit it, and I rarely ever do, because all the homages to the original are the best parts of it, and just remind me that I'd rather be watching Superman: The Movie. And unlike at the theater, at home I can just turn off Superman Returns and watch the original instead. 😆 The trailer really gives me hope that we can have a Superman movie that's...well, hopeful. There's a lot of good stuff in Man of Steel, but his character arc in the subsequent films reinforces the elements that I disliked in Man of Steel, so that stuff stands out a lot more on rewatch. To me, it feels like an Elseworlds Superman. Like a 'what if Superman was a depressed objectivist?' kind of storyline. Honestly, with Zack Snyder's love of Randian tropes, I don't know why he didn't just make a movie about The Question. I think he could've nailed that. But Superman? I think he saw Superman as a character that didn't resonate...like a problem that he had to fix by making Superman edgier. But the world NEEDS a symbol of hope. The world needs Superman. Not an alternate universe Superman whose adoptive Earth father told him 'Maybe keeping your abilities secret is more important than saving people's lives,' then died in a tornado for absolutely no logical reason, leaving him traumatized and conflicted. But a Superman who can make us believe, not only that a man can fly, but that maybe, in the long run, humanity is going to be okay. That's who Superman IS. That's what he represents. It's Batman's place to be dark and brooding and conflicted and flawed. Superman is an IDEAL. And the only superhero who's been living up to that ideal on the big screen lately has been Captain America. It's time for Superman to represent that ideal again. To inspire people to want to be more like Superman. Not to have his superhuman powers, but his human powers. His compassion, his belief in justice and humanity, his loyalty, his courage, his sense of right. I hope we'll be seeing that Superman on the big screen again very soon.
