In this tutorial, I take you through an upcycle spaceship build process step by step. I show you how to make a practical spaceship from supermarket packaging. We puzzle together the pieces and using Styrene sheets to create simple details. This video has something for the beginner as well as the advanced makers.

I used to do this as a kid in the 1970s. I was really in to Star Trek, Space 1999, Battlestar Galactica, Star Wars, etc. I used to install fiber optics inside of my models. Flashing LEDs and wheat lamps. Thanks for reuniting me with a passion that I had completely forgotten about.

Your set building and prop making skills are excellent. Now I watch your content on a regular basis and can't wait to see your next film.

So much fun!!! I am making a starship adventure series called The Invictus Chronicles on a very slim budget. I needed a bunch of different ships for a battle and some for a space dock. I started with broken up nerf guns and other water guns and flipped them upside down. We cut off the handles and I just went to it with a ton of my dad's model building supplies and bits and pieces wherever I could find them. There was already texture on the guns so it was just a matter of adding a bunch more, painting them, and pinstriping some of them. I'm pretty pleased with the outcome. You have given me some tips to make sure the pieces stay on. (A problem that I unfortunately encountered!) and also for weathering. Thanks for your enthusiasm!!!

I built a space ship by cardboard for my school project scifi short film and even l didn't use it much. Mine was a very big ship like 1 ft high 3 ft long almost 2 ft wide. Now your video open my eyes more better to build again with something has nice shape which is plastic. I love that idea.Thx dude.

Nice work! Now I am retired I make up sets of toy soldiers to give away to less well off families and one thing I get asked for is sci-fi. The problem is the 'rule of threes' (one is one, two is two but to humans three is 'lots') so I have to make three or more all the same, so those probiotic canisters are going to get used in future. As a toy they have to be robust (landing gear is a pain) and they have to have somewhere to hold them (so I usually add a fin of some kind at the top rear). Bigger ships can be made with a lift off roof so you can put people inside (with windows so you can see them). I get to make all the things I would have loved when I was 10 and as I give them away I don't have to find storage space! Thus far the kids have liked them and about 1-in-5 really 'gets it'. I'll take a look at your other vids for more ideas.

This is great! Brought back many memories of building entire fleets of spacecraft using lots and lots of cardboard tubes, poster board, and masking tape and erecting entire cities with cardboard boxes. Many would be lighted with LEDs or mini flashlights. Sometimes I would cheat and use legos. That was back in the early 80's, heavily influenced by star wars, buck rogers, and battlestar galactica! I don't do much modeling these days, but do enjoy building props, custom or replica. Can't wait to see the flyby video!

Not sure why I clicked on this video at 1AM. I first I thought the title was on a civilian ship or supermarket freighter. Tooth past caps could make nice flat engine intake cones or the other way around thrusters. Those yogurt containers do make nice engines might also make nice fuel tanks or cargo containers for a freighter. The plane is the BAC Lightning MiG 21s also had them as well as a few others. A real nice look to the ship.

The British fighter you are thinking of was the English Electric/B.A.C. Lightning. Basically two Rolls-Royce Avon jet engines with wings, which, in the late 1950's could go at about 1,350 mph without trying. A huge, beautiful beast of an aircraft.

A tip to make glossy looking tinted windows on models is use clear plastic and paint the backside of it so it looks like real tinted glass. Works 100 times better then even the most expensive super gloss paint. You can use the cheapest spray paint and it will look great.

Quick tip: If you're in need of bits for your bit-box, I would recommend scrapping useless tech, last week, I was going to throw out an old DVD player but chose to take it apart, found that the disc tray was quite intricate, some of the buttons were greats, cable sockets, all of it was super useful!
