Hey!! One of your lady supermega viewers here. If you want to rid of those dark spots you should exfoliate once a week. Taking off the dead skin helps slowly buff away the dark spots over time. Sunscreen helps as well everyday! And use zinc based sunscreen because it’s actually great for helping rid of acne, i use a zinc based cream on my breakouts, so sunscreen should help!

The Virgin Matt vs. The Chad Ryan
@ponyonyony6 жыл бұрын
Yo Matt, what you have is called PIH - post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. If you're really interested in finding ways to minimize it, I'd recommend taking a looking at /r/asianbeauty or /r/skincareaddiction. It can seem daunting and can be overwhelming, but it's not so bad. I could easily recommend a simple starter routine for you, or if you wanted to post on a throwaway account on one of the subs, people would be more than happy to give you recommendations and pointers. The long and short of it is, while you should take care of your skin anyway, products containing vitamin c or niacinamide or going to be your best bet for getting rid of dark acne spots. So something like a Vitamin C serum would probably do you well. But to really combat it, you should go for a full-on skincare routine, complete with cleansers, moisturizers, exfoliators, and SUNSCREEN. Seriously, no matter what you do, use some fucking sunscreen regardless of whether you have skincare issues or not. DO NOT use lemon or baking soda or whatever other stupid shit people are going to recommend unless you want to fuck your skin up beyond repair and far worse than any PIH.

Wow, I should try this too! I keep getting acne on my chin, and it couldn't hurt to try.
@ponyonyony6 жыл бұрын
Be cautious though, because sometimes it actually can hurt to try! If you happen to be allergic to any ingredients or your skin just reacts negatively, you might get even worse acne. Some people have reactions to ingredients like cetyl alcohol, for example. Patch testing is VERY important when it comes to your skin - try the product for a week or two on a small area of your face (something inconspicuous is recommended) to make sure it's not going to cause a breakout. It can be tricky, but once you find the right balance, you can have really beautiful, healthy skin no matter what you're coming from.

For the acne scarring matt was talking about, chemical peels help by slowly eating away at the scar tissue so new, undamaged skin can grow. Skin needling helps by creating controlled damage to stimulate collagen. And finally laser treatment can help with the colour (the purple splotches) but it won’t get rid of any pitting in the skin. I’ve tried them all and chemical peels worked the best for me, but everyone is different.

Acne scarring/dark spots - microdermabrasion with a chemical peel. You have to see a professional, BUT it is worth it.
@jdd10006 жыл бұрын
Matt this might help you: I got this really bad breakout on my forehead when I was 24 & had to see a dermatologist. They prescribed me Epiduo to get rid of it since nothing worked (tried Neutrogena & some other stuff). Now, I got that stuff to use whenever I breakout, even if it's just a small pimple & it works quick. See a dermatologist & it probably will only cost you about $40, including medication & refills (with insurance). Also my girlfriend used witch hazel to help with skin appearance, since you said you have a problem with blotches. Edit: you guys should do a Drunk Drawing near MD, definitely would go with a couple friends.

So the post-breakout dark spots are acne scarring. I’ve been prescribed tretinoin cream because I always get them. In fact I also got them on my cheeks, which is funny! But it is one of the best medications for it. You need to apply it at night (not because it’s visible, but because sunlight can cause chemical burns). Getting rid of acne scarring takes a while, my dermatologist said about 6 months.
@merc3116 жыл бұрын
For acne scars try seeing a dermatologist! They’ll most likely give you retin-A which is great for all kinds of skin problems, but especially scarring. Alternatively, if your acne is really bad and if you scar really easily, you could ask for accutane, which sucks for a few months while you take it, but it makes your skin amazing afterwards
