A teacher of mine quit smoking for a while (for her pregnancy) by rolling up the cigarette putting it on her lips but never lighting it up . She said that it really helped. Also I remember someone told me that by chewing ice-cubes it can distract you ( also cigarettes will taste horrible afterwards.) Be strong Ryan. I believe in you ,man.

Ryan I am also attempting to quit. The tingling you feel from the gum is the nicotine they don't quite work for everyone. Honestly it will take a bunch of tries as Prime Ape said - If you need a crutch.. try a vape with progressively lower and lower nicotine. Vape worked for me, but for the love of god don't start chasing those 'fat clouds'. Good luck, Fog Master Ry

Wow, probably one of the few times I've ever commented on a KZbin video. Been a smoker for a few years and what made it very easy to quit was: 1. eliminate/cut down on caffeine - it contributes to that anxiety and dependency to smoke 2. drink more water, flush out the nicotine and caffeine 3. chew peppermint gum, peppermint helps allieviate that anxiety Hope that helps! thanks guys, love the vids!

addressing ryan wanting to quit: when you would normally buy a pack, put that money in a jar or something and save up for something you really really want. you can only put cigarette money in the jar though. that way you're rewarded at the end with a cool thing AND you're not putting money towards cigarettes. idk see if it works?? and then you can also see how much money you're actually saving by not smoking. good luck

I quit smoking by starting to substitute shitty gas station cigars for cigarettes. They were terrible and tasted awful but the nicotine was still good. I didn't want to smoke them because of how bad they tasted so by proxy I wanted to stop smoking them. That gave me enough of a push to be able to stop smoking in about 3 months. I smoked for 6 years.
@JP-pp7lp7 жыл бұрын
Ryan, if your mouth is tingling and you're getting light headed then you're chewing the nicotine gum wrong. What you're supposed to do is chew the gum switching between each side of your mouth every few chews. Then when it stops tingling you park it in between your gums until your mouth stops tingling, then repeat the process.

Hey Ryan check out the video "HOW to quit Sugar & Unhealthy Habits" by the channel "What I've Learned". It's about sugar, but it touches on addiction in general and smoking. I think the best way to quit addiction is by learning how addiction works, so you can be fully aware of what you're actually feeling and why when you are craving a smoke.

The thing you were talking about around 57:00 is an actual effect. When there are more people near a problem, there is a lower chance that anyone will do anything, because they all expect someone else to do something. The effect became noticed because a woman was mugged in the middle of a neighborhood and laid dying for a long amount of time, and when the attack noticed nobody was going to do anything, he went back and finished the job with multiple people awake and aware of the situation

One of my friends said that something that helped was chewing gum, not always nicotine gum, but mainly that it helps take your mind off it. You can chew the nicotine gum every other time or every three days if it helps to wean off. But most of the problem comes down to re learning and training yourself to not constantly be thinking about your next cigarette and filling time that used to be used for smoke breaks with something else that's more wholesome or just fun to take its place

One method that helped me quit smoking was to make fresh juice. It helped a lot because it became a time-consuming process; washing the fresh fruit, peeling and cutting/deseeding, blending the fruit and filtering the pulp. Then once you have the juice you need to clean the juicer which could take some time as well because of how many parts there are. It may seem like a silly way to quit but if you take a couple days off and stay home and juice up some fruit it'll definitely be a rewarding method to taking your mind off of smoking. Plus you get delicious fresh made juice afterwards! Which is also a good oral fixation that can also prolong your distraction. Side note- I recommend using fresh ginger if you end up doing this method. That's DAMN GOOD!

Concerning Ryan wanting to quit: My uncle quit smoking by going cold turkey but before that he would delay the important cigarettes, like the first one of the day (it's different for everyone though, like someone else's important cigarette might be after coffee). He delayed those by 20-30 minutes and when he delayed those it wasn't a big shock when he finally quit. As cheesy as this may sound, we all believe in you and it's ok if you relapse. We care and we're here to help, stay strong

What works for me in regards to quitting smoking is not making it an ultimatum in my mind, but an unspecified break. I've "quit" smoking several times, but every non-smoking break has gotten longer and every smoking period shorter. Once you know you're able to quit for a while, you have that knowledge. Ryan's quit before, he can do it again.

I quit smoking by hyper-scheduling when I was "allowed" to smoke. For instance, if I were smoking daily, I might schedule something like three at 10am, three at 1pm and three 9pm (or whatever is closest to your existing quota). Then after I was comfortable with the schedule, I would remove a cigarette from one of the breaks, or even remove a break all together. I eventually got down to one every Friday, then I quit. It can take a while but it worked for me. I also used it to quit caffeine.

Hey Ryan! A good way to quit smoking is just by putting it off every time you have a craving. Tell yourself you will have one in 10 minutes and distract yourself with a task. I quit smoking about 6 months ago, tried many times before by cutting down on it. but this time I just quit on the spot, and found something to focus my mind 100% on for a few weeks so that the urge of nicotine wouldn't creep back up. Don't take "breaks" between tasks in games for example, that's when the urge comes. just go on and on and on, don't stop. Well outside of sleeping, eating and having toilet breaks. But yeah, that's how it worked for me.

I accidentally quit smoking. I wanted to quit but every time I tried I ended up having a bad day and buying a pack. When my last pack ran out I wanted to buy more but I couldn't afford it, so I waited until my check but then forgot to buy them and when I wanted to I was too broke again. This kind of pattern just kept happening and when I wanted a pack when I did have money I refused to allow myself to go buy one because I had already made it this long without a smoke. I'm going on a year in July and only had one cigarette since quitting (I was shit faced drunk and grabbed someone's). The cravings still come but reminding myself how long I've gone helps. I think that the pressure of trying to quit makes you want it more, like dieting makes you hungrier. If you just don't think about it, don't acknowledge that your quitting, it takes the pressure off and makes it easier.

My boyfriend quit smoking but switching to e-cigarettes. It gets a bad rep but honestly he hasn't picked up a cigarette in 4 years because of it. He has his taste buds back and he's way less angry than he was before he quit. I only recommend it if you're really addicted to the oral fix (lol) of cigarettes. Otherwise I would say just ween yourself off of them gradually. Go from a few a day to just one a day, and then one every other day, etc. until you just stop completely. Hope that helps, good luck Ryan!

It tells you when you last smoked, how much money you spent, how much nicotine you took in, how many you had each day, and has graphs and achievements and shit.
