I share her greatness , as i was an epileptic , until a brilliant surgeon discovered i had a heart condition ! But even with epilepsy I was allowed to drive , and at 76 yrs old I am still driving !
That is band fest in CA as part of the 2018 Rose Parade festivities. I like to call them the Orange Angels, because their performances are heavenly and they are angels. Catch the fever. Last I heard Hitomi San is in college studying to become a teacher. Very inspirational story. The MC embarrassed Hitomi San by signaling her out in front of her band mates. That is why she did not acknowledge him, nor did she say anything even though a faculty lady who tried to be her interpreter was talking to her, she was ashamed and embarrassed for being called out and was not prepared for it. Japan is not an individualist culture like the US. They are more group oriented. Also Hitomi San was only a high school student at the time and did not know how to react. Also Japanese are very shy around people they do not know.
You're already have smile, already laugh, and today you're already have tear. So, now you have fully qualified for them. If someone can make you smile or laugh, you will like them. If someone can make you happy, you will like them too. If someone make you sad, you will hate them. And if someone make you cry, you may hate them too. But, If someone can make you feel all of these, It's mean You care about them. And absolutly you love them.

I was in the drumline of my high school marching band and I'm kind of envious of the handful of boys in the Orange Devils! They may get a lot of guff from the jocks in their school (I sure did!), but they're in the best HS band on earth AND they're constantly surrounded by girls who are not only cute as hell, but poised, polite, talented, smart and funny!! That would have been HEAVEN ON EARTH for me!! I also wonder if any of those boys, since there are so few of them, actually get fought over by the girls!!! I sure would have LOVED that because I was a geek among geeks back then and it really SUCKED!!!

Well no, they would not fight over you. They would have a committee meeting, discussion, and probably vote in your absence and decide which of them gets to date you. You would not be upset with their choice.

Hitomi Kanemaru (Kurara) was a senior at this performance and graduated in March 2018. She was one of nine members of her class and one of 19 gradates of Tachibana who came to the US withe the All Japan Honor Green Band, a composite band made of college students from allover Japan, to appear in the 2020 Rose Parade. Tachibana Band members who traduated in 2019 created most of the choreaography for the group, and the 2018 graduates were the trainers. She was introduced again in the Bandfest and again marched the entire 9 km Rose Parade. Her goal is to be a kindergarten teacher. Some kids are going to be very lucky./

Too bad that announcer didn't understand that he embarrassed her by calling her out.

@@pauldavidgraham6301 Sorry, this video just came recommended. But yes, in Japanese culture, one should not stick out in a crowd nor be singled out. This is probably why Hitomi had an embarrassed look on her face. Nevertheless, her story is inspiring and her bandmates close by seemed to be happy for her.

James.... Loved your comment above, very well stated. My wife and I were honored that we had the opportunity to again be a Host Family for the K.T. students and alumni both (shown in the video above) and 2020 when Hitomi and her best friend stayed with us as our house guests. I would like to see somewhere on this post that this video be credited to the person that shot it. All their work needs to be recognized. I"m NOT a fan of these "reaction" videos.....and that's all I'll say.

@@paulmiller5037 My own experience was that i was active in my high school marching band as well as an old fashioned town band during thje summer. When I got to college, the band camp the week before class started caused by knee to get so sore that I could not wear long pants; turns out a botched knee operation when I was 5 had caused an advanced case of traumatic arthritis. I bailed on the marching, becoming the band manager instead, so I have tremendous respect for her determination.

Hitomi is my hero, she has more determination and courage than just about anybody I know. You should also see some of the videos that focus on the drumline. They bounce nonstop and show a lot of energy. I especially like the way the girl playing the gong mutes it. It might make you laugh, too.

It wasn't a competition but more of a show for all of the bands who will march in the rose parade on New years day. There was a video contest which they won. If you haven't seen their parade performance you should

Thank you so much for making the video big and your reaction widow smaller. Some of the other reactors make their picture big and put the video they are reacting to in a small box. Especially with these long shots, you can't see what the band is doing in a small box. Good job on the reaction, but you cut the ending out when KT is leaving the field playing sing sing sing and fireball.
