The eldest just melts into the background. Keeps her head down and stays invisible because any attention is bad attention in this house. She's just surviving..been there.

When the little girl ran screaming when the egg broke that pissed me off. It shows how freaking abusive verbally, mentally, emotionally and physically these parents have been towards these children. Insane!

I think she was crying and ran away because the mother's crying - which was losing control - scared her. She didn't know what Jo was trying to demonstrate with the eggs so her mother in tears and dropping eggs was traumatic for her.

Better that they... As parents and carers... are able to openly say it. Be open to thanking about their behaviours and being able to make changes for better rather than keeping them hidden and unaddressed

I think it's hilarious (and by hilarious I mean sad) that that statement got his attention vs the fact that he is physically abusing his children. He's more worried about them being old enough to hit back - it's a man obssessed with control.

Teaches children that hitting is the way to solve all issues, is confused when the kids hit them back. This is why parents magically stop hitting their kids when they're teens, its all about having something you can hurt that won't fight back

5 mins in, and the dad is already admitting that he is holding back because of Jo. To me this means he knows his actions are wrong. In the other episodes where parents get physical with their kids, they don't hide it and they defend it. While I wish they didn't spank their kids, at least those parents seem to think they are doing the right thing? Hiding it makes me feel like he knows what he does is wrong and he doesn't want to get in trouble/have backlash. To me that is insidious and scary.

I imagine you will laugh at this and have some snappy retort about how you were spanked and you are ok, but your anecdotal evidence means nothing in this case.

Yes! I've been watching since I was little with my own mother and now I have an 11 month old. Not at the point of true discipline yet but have incorporated so many of her techniques while teaching. (I teach toddlers)

Sometimes things look okay on the outside but inside you can be traumatised so much you've gaslight yourself into thinking the things that happened to you were okay and justified. My whole generation has to deal with parents like this and most of us are planning or left and gone no-contact with our parents.
