It was my mom who pointed out during our rewatch that Jared (Sam's actor) is running _comedically_ slow in order for the girl to catch up You can just about make it out @ 19:28 The actress is giving it all she's got, but Jared's movements are smaller/shorter (for someone with legs as long as he does) and slower. The girl is running but Jared is _clearly_ jogging. There's a scene in s5 where Jensen was _also_ running too fast for the extras & had to be told to slow down XD. But it's much less noticeable than Jared in this ep.

Fun fact: Sam (Jared Padalecki) actually broke his hand in the last episode, "Bloodlust". But because they already started filming this episode, he couldn't have his hand in a cast. Jensen Ackles (actor plays dean) is a phenomenal actor. they both are but jensen has alot of these small moment that just breaks your heart. also remember its 23 episode so some of these are more for character building and building up a theme like questioning are all monsters bad? things dead should stay dead and the consequences of it. these are all messages that is building up the main story. you gotta look at it at a web for the story of the brothers and their personal journey.

Totally agree with u! I love them both and they both have been through a lot of shit I just hate when people seems to forget about sam’s feelings and everything he has went through because they are too busy thinking about dean’s problems cause let’s be honest most of the fandom prefers him. Honestly I hate when people tear down one brother just to make the other one look better and most of the time they tear down sam which I dislike cause he is an amazing character just as his brother. None of them is perfect and both of them have made mistakes but people always seem to remember sam’s ones as if dean never did anything wrong (and of course just like both of them have made mistakes both of them also have made amazing things) and even if you have a preference for one of the brothers you shouldn’t just tear down the other cause I truly believe that if you are a true fan and you really love them you would care for both of them cause they are each other’s happiness and most important thing I mean dean nor sam would be happy if you throw hate on one of them just because you like one better if that makes sense?

For some reason I don't know, Dean was looking at the headstone of somebody who died in 1996, named Donald. If anybody understands why we're given this odd detail, tell me.

Metatexually, the "loving father" bit _is_ a callback to John (remember, the point of this episode is for Dean to accept/verbalize that he thinks John died for him & how that suspicion is messing him up) Show-wise, Dean is standing at that grave because he can't make himself go to Mary's grave. It hurts him too much to confront all those feelings even now, so he stayed far away

The calendar-bending situation would have been avoided if the show had premiered around Halloween (not that that was ever going to happen). Or, maybe, if the dream Sam had, showing her November date of death on the headstone, had been worked into the story as one of his premonitions - but it's presented in canon as just a bad dream.

The scene when they're refilling her grave in the morning? One of my absolute favorite bloopers happened when filming that scene. Jared crouches and slams the shovel against the ground and his pants rip. Next thing you know, he's wide eyed and going "I ripped my pants!" Then he's running around, his hands clutching at his butt to hide the rip and running around the cemetery, jumping over headstones while you hear Jensen just dying of laughter in the background. It's fantastic and hilarious! (I figure Dean being a gorgeous crier with his single tear was a given based on the comments and the broken hand was also already mentioned so figured I'd share something else! Hope it gave you guys a bit of a laugh.) Edit: The look Nathan got when he let slip that huff of laughter during the moment of silence. I broke and started laughing. But I'm so glad you left that final scene in because it's an emotional killer.

Dean's state of mind is having an effect on his work. He may have figured out the case, but he jumped to a (kinda unnecessarily aggressive) assumption about who was behind it all. At least he voices some of what's been bothering him to his brother. Favorite parts for me is always the heart-to-heart between them. "Ugly" and "pretty" crying are all welcome as long as it's a genuine show of emotion. Nathan listing all of Sam's traits down to a T👌 Both of these boys are heartthrobs, really 😏
