Rating 9/10 - This ep provided me with what I needed for a season opener, it just made me sad with that ending!..
- I'm finding it very hard to side with just one of the boys lately. I can see things from both points of view. Dean tried multiple times to get Sam to listen and be safe & Sam felt he wasn't being heard yet again & felt he was doing what was right for Dean & the human race! As much as I adore Dean, he was frustratingly shut off this ep (until the end). Not that this should be a surprise to me but I feel that him shutting Sam down & not allowing him to speak can cause more harm than good. As much as I want 'old' Sam back & have things right as rain again, I can see why on this occasion it's proving difficult. He knows he fucked up in a HUGE way & he needs a support system right now & it hurts that he's not getting that.
-I pray that Bobby is going to be okay because my heart literally couldn't take it if he doesn't pull through!
-Zach is getting on my last nerve!
-How did Cas survive that?! I'm glad he did though, he seems a lot more on board with helping the boys now. I really hope he starts giving answers instead of disappearing at the worst times lol.
-Meg is back!! Whut??
-LUCIFER!!! I can't wait to see how this pans out. I'm on board with the casting choice.

This episode breaks me every single time, because both brothers are suffering. Dean is so hurt and angry that he can't even let Sam speak about it because he knows he will lose it, and he is desperate to pretend that nothing has changed, and that they can be okay again. Sam is so hurt, both when he thinks Bobby has completely turned his back on him forever, which thankfully gets fixed when Bobby is no longer possessed by a demon, and when Dean finally comes clean about how betrayed he feels, and how he feels incapable of trusting Sam now. Breaks my heart. Cas actually has a theory about who brought him back, and how the boys ended up on that plane if you listen to him when he goes up against Zachariah and the other angels to save the Winchester brothers: ZACHARIAH: How are you... CASTIEL: Alive? That's a good question. How did these two end up on that airplane? Another good question. 'Cause the angels didn't do it. I think we both know the answer, don't we? ZACHARIAH: No. That's not possible. CASTIEL: It scares you. Well, it should. Now, put these boys back together and go. I won't ask twice. I think you can guess who Cas believes did it, and why the idea scares Zachariah. Whether or not Cas is right remains to be seen, and you as a viewer can buy into that theory or not, but.... yeah, there IS a theory.

Mark Pellegrino is an awesome actor, he really plays Lucifer very well. :D I discovered him on Supernatural but now I see him everywhere, he appears in a lot of tv shows, it's incredible (his best performance stays Lucifer for me). ^^

When Bobby was possessed and said all that stuff about Sam, I just sorta knew he was possessed because in the last 2 episodes of Season 4, he was all about convincing Dean that he should be trying to help Sam, and was defending Sam quite a bit. So him suddenly completely against Sam, and thinking he's past saving and all that, it was just too big of a change in so little time that I just didn't really believe it.

Mark Pellegrino did a great job playing the wounded man. Also, the possible hosts for angels are from specific bloodlines but the angels never elaborate. Each host has a different level of attunement to the angels. Dean couldn't hear Castiel, which is why he took Jimmy as his host to speak to Dean. This is despite Dean being Michael's perfect host.

And once again I have a few things to get of my chest: 1) THE LOOK ON SAM'S FACE WHEN BOBBY TOLD HIM TO LOOSE HIS NUMBER! I CAN'T!! 2) Mark Pellegrino! Yes, finally! He's such an amazing actor and Lucifer is such an amazing character, really excited to see how you'll like him. :) 3) The Sam and Dean scene in the end...yeah, I don't have words. 4) Sam's reaction to hearing his eyes turned black... Enough said. 5) Chuck!

Only in Supernatural would you get a 'Thank God, he's possessed'...' And man, Sam seems to be real demon bait... Really do feel sad for Nick. Lots of times, people forget that Lucifer is an angel and still needs consent. So does Michael. But as Zach demonstrates, angels don't need enthusiastic consent. They can torture, manipulate, anything needed to get to 'yes'. And Lucifer does exactly that, and so does Zachariah. In some ways, the way angels are portrayed is fascinating, moreso than pure good. They find their 'cause', and do ANYTHING for that cause. Justify anything, rationalize anything. And interesting how the Winchesters and Castiel were both saved, in one case from pretty much annihilation.... and by something that Zachariah doesn't want to believe is there to do it. And for family dysfunction, it is hard to see Sam going through that, but it's hard to know that Sam lied, and he did ignore anything anyone said over a demon's word. My headcanon was the addiction was a big part of it (and intended to be. Ruby SAYS, in the end, he didn't 'need the blood', he had it inside all the time). A lot easier to believe an argument that makes what you know is wrong, but still want to do seem justified. Inside, he WANTED it to be true, because it let him feed his addiction. And Ruby played off of that, making everyone who said different seem 'jealous', or didn't care about what kicking it would do to Sam. Guess if demons are expert at anything, it's sensing weakness and temptation and playing off of it.

I absolutely second this comment. Even expectation spoilers, or other mild types of spoilers can ruin the fun and there's a ton of that going on. Seriously, just saying "this next episode's not so great" or "this next one's one of my all time faves!" can influence how someone views an episode and what they expect. It's possible they could end up hating a fan favourite because to them, it didn't live up to all the hype they heard about it. And information can add up too...maybe you don't give a lot away in your comment, but when they put it together with the other 20 comments that are like "what? I barely said anything?" all of a sudden, they have the plot to the episode! You wanna talk about the show like you've seen it already? Go to another Supernatural site...there are plenty. You shouldn't say anything here (or on other reaction sites) that people didn't know before the episode originally aired.

They both played a role in it, equal blame as far as I'm concerned. 2:53 Mark Pellegrino is QUITE the Thespian, I must say! 3:25 Becky, Becky, Becky, one of my favorite Sam groupies. JESUS, that was too close for comfort. 6:42 If you go back you'll see Sammy is pretty good at recognizing which demon is visiting, and Dean well........ 7:21 "Oh good the Angels are here" - gotta love this Angelic assistance. 8:35 ............................................................. 9:10 wings flapping. What a prick! LOL. 11:36 HARSH but at the time I would have felt the same way. For your own flesh and blood to betray you like that over a demon? Her blood must have tasted like Nectar of the Gods or something cause Sammy was SPRUNG. To the point it clouded his judgement and made him feel more powerful. I get where Sam was coming from, but him of all people should have known better. Dean and Bobby are family and wouldn't steer you wrong. Ruby damn there disabled all the traffic lights and directed traffic herself to get Sam to this point. What an actress! She played that role to perfection, even forming an emotional connection w/ Sam by getting him in bed. What a demon. So many favorite episodes from this Season, it's ridiculous. You'll see for yourself, believe me! There's really only 1 episode I didn't really like the whole Season 5. PLEASE people No SPOILERS, I'm begging! See you soon.

yay! and we get a SPN gem for the Dakara double treat today!!! great reaction/analysis of the kickoff for S5, the payoff of the long play that was the Kripke era of the show, extremely creative and well done were S4 and 5 and I know you wont be disappointed. we all breathed a sigh of relief that it was a demon in Bobby because the words were rough but like you said somewhat believable after all that had gone down. Agreed that Mark P is an excellent choice to play Lucifer, and I can't wait to watch you see it all unfold..... a big CTU for you and keep em coming!

Mark Pellegrino is the best version of Lucifer btw (In my opinion). He is amazing, and has been in like literally ever single tv show I've ever seen. And the actress who plays Meg (Rachel Miner) is amazing as well, she just always looks annoyed by everything and it's perfect.

Having watched these episodes in real time I've really enjoyed watching your reactions. One thing I will say is that Lucifer never does lie, but he doesn't always tell the truth which is what makes him such a master manipulator. There are 2 ways to truly get people. Tell a big lie that everyone buys into (see Senator Roark's speech in the movie Sin City (also see current American politics)) and the other way is to use half truths and lies of omission to paint reality how you want it to be.

I really don’t understand why anyone blaming dean for not trust Sam after he did. How can you blame him? I do believe the boys will work out anyway they always do. To be fair, yes, its understandable why Dean doesn't trust Sam anymore, but Sam "betrayed" Dean in the same way Dean "betrayed" Sam. Sam always said to Dean that what he was doing was for a greater good and Dean never listened. Dean even locked Sam to detox him. Sure, Sam started the apocalypse, but he had no way of knowing that, even Dean only knew that in the last episode, when Zacharia told him. Lets say Sam killed Lilith and stopped apocalypse, then Sam would be a hero and Dean the one who couldn't trust his own brother. It's always easy to judge with hindsight.

Sam betrayed Dean because he chose Ruby, a demon, over his own brother. Yeah, Sam thought he was doing the right thing, but that's only because he kept listening to Ruby and choosing to believe her.

I skip this episode so many times but watching your review of it reminds me it is a master of an episode especially in terms of character development. And I can't wait for you to see the mythos of who are the vessels for Michael and lucifer and why. (I actually don't think they reveal why until season like 9) or so the myth is deep if you have the DVDs they have a lot of stuff in there about where they got it from which is mostly biblical and I mean season 4)

Funny thing is I was disappointed in season 5 when it first aired, just because season 4 was incredible, my expectations where bloody high for season 5 so it was hard to meet those expectations, but after watching it a second time it’s bloody good but season 4 was a game changer and season 5 is the cherry on top. Seasons 6-13 are ok but they can’t beat the heights of the earlier seasons, Eric kripke had a plan and it was beautifully executed!

When this first happened many people hated Sam, it was like people forgot that Dean Broke the first one. And anything was their faul, both were manipualted, and none of them knew what were they doing. I know Sam did something wrongs, but I fully understand why, so I never was able to be angry with him as many others did. I hate when people blame Sam for the bad things... I t never was 100% his fault

I mean yeah it wasn’t 100% sams fault but there is still blame to go to him. Dean was suffering so bad and made ONE bad decision in hell, but when he got out, all Sam did was lie, and let ruby in, and when dean found out about ruby Sam continued to lie about the blood, he hurt dean so much, he hurt everyone else, even Adam, even random people because of his rage. Sam made so many more mistakes this season then dean did. If you had to put it in numbers, it was 15% deans fault, 45% sams fault, and 40% Rubys, Azazel, Lilith, and the angels fault. You can understand why Sam did it and still blame him and be angry. I’m glad Sam changes in season 9 and 10, because the things he did before those seasons (other than the demon blood) were not good. I love Sam now but it’s so hard to watch him in the earlier seasons, dean let’s him get away with a lot and it hurts. Me and dean are essentially the same so it’s hard to watch because it reminds me of my life where my family hurt me, even if sometimes it wasn’t on purpose. The sad part is that I don’t have the family that dean does where everything is forgiven, I guess that’s one of the only things about me that’s different than dean.

I have to say it pisses me off that Sam always gets the blame for starting the dam apocalypse when it was Dean that broke the first seal!!! So don't they share the blame equally?? But if you really wanna get technical it's all the angels fault because they led the brothers into it every step of the way!! JMO
