Rating - 9/10 - I loved this episode! I always enjoy when they explore their family life & I'm so glad that Sam got to experience this, this time around too! Seeing his mum & dad when they were younger must have been so surreal & getting the chance to say what he didn't say when they were alive just really got to me. So so good. The hardest thing about losing a parent are the 'ifs' & 'buts' you stew on. It must have been so fulfilling to get that chance, even if they wouldn't remember it in their future. We have now seen Michael make an appearance too, this poor family have been THROUGH IT haven't they?! Just can't catch a break. Am I right in thinking that John made an agreement with Michael? Or have I misunderstood that...either way, the boys have been doomed from the start :( I found John's opinions on hunter life/children really eye opening, at one stage he was disgusted by the thought & then in reality he ended up being the king of mixing up hunter life with his children. He must have been blinded by his loss of Mary. Glad we have had more movement in the plot this week, it felt like a long time coming even though it's only been 3 episodes haha.

I didn't want to spoil this when you first learned of the angels and who were appropriate vessels. Specific bloodlines are capable of being hosts to angels. Not all hosts are able to hear the angels speaking like Jimmy Novak did when he met Castiel. Lastly, the bloodline of the Winchesters can serve as hosts for Michael and Lucifer. Hence, the boys and their destinies.

The creator of SPN, Eric Kripke, designed the story to be told in 5 seasons, then they decided to renew for a sixth, but the point here is that the end of this season is epic ... The creator planned in that way, then there was small changes for the show can continue ... But imagine ending the history of these brothers ... Again, EPIC!!!

He originally planned it for 3 (where in the finale Dean would go to & remain in hell and Sam would become evil) but then had the idea of angels and extended it to 5 seasons.

John didn't lose his values after Mary died. It left him broken and wanting to protect his family at all costs because he knew whatever killed his wife was still out there and could come back at any time for his boys, which of course is what happened. So he did the most responsible thing he could given the circumstances because without the training Sam & Dean got, they would've been killed, remained dead (as opposed to coming back countless times), and they never would've saved all the lives they ended up saving. It took one hell of a toll on them, but it was the right thing to do in every possible way. And if he hadn't done it, there wouldn't have been a series.

So glad you enjoyed the episode. =D Oh but small correction about Cas, he can heal. Most, if not all Angels can heal others. Cas is always healing the boys and who ever else needs help at the time. But the issue with Cas is he's cut off from the host of heaven, so that means he can only do so much. As for Michael, he didn't heal Sam. Sam was dead, so Michael brought him back to life. Archangels are the strongest host of heaven, aside from god. An Michael was the first. He killed Anna, without an angel blade, something no other angel can or has ever been able to do. Then he resurrected Sam & sent Dean, Sam an Cas back to their time. =] This episode shows how strong he truly is. (^ _ ^;)

Finally ! I just love this episode so much, and yours reaction/thoughts about the episode is always awsome. Everything about this episode is on point. The flashback always gets me, that scene between John and Sam is so truly, Dean telling Mary about who they really are, and then she tells them that she is already pregnant. The actors who play young Mary, and young John were perfect. And I have to talk about Michael. I love see the angels/archangels and how powerful they are, specially him. And Matt ( the actor ) did an incredible job, he shows how powerful Michael is only by the way he talks. It's not a very comun opinion, but I love Michael.

Misha does have beautiful blue eyes, and so are Jensen's when the light hits them the right way. And Jared is just Hot. :) And Matt Cohen (young John) is X-Military so he does know how to fight, just not as well as a hunter would.

I think your words were "I can't believe I shed an actual human tear". Well, that was a lot of tears ago. But don't worry about tears you shed in past episodes because there are many more to come. This episode is PACKED! I feel for this family, really, Mary encounters kind of her worst nightmare, seeing her children become hunters, she was all about getting out of hunting, having a normal life, even though it wasn't the case because she already made the deal and she knew that was all gonna end in 10 years, poor girl she was always fighting that destiny and imagine the guilt she felt (that's a thing in this family, amirite?). Now John, he became the person he hated, raising Sam and Dean to be hunters, when before he thought that was a horrible thing to do. Btw notice how Mary was always trying to have that "normal" apple pie life with John, you know making the deal, escaping the hunting life with him, it ends up bad, at the end of the day she was lying to herself :( And lol I always think the same thing as you about cutting the hand, I mean I guess it wouldn't be as dramatic if you don't cut your hand haha

Cas could heal, he's just cut off from heaven so he no longer has an endless supply of power to keep him juiced. His power is finite, now, and uses it up more an more when he does stuff like this. At this point, I think he barely has enough to fly around anymore

I thought I'd share with everyone Jensen's singing progression at Supernatural Conventions. To raise spirits. But he does enjoy singing - especially with his buddies - and you can tell. Jason probably softened him up before this, plus Jason knows him so well and figured he wouldn't be able to say "no" if it was done right. And, Jensen is really much more comfortable when he's with friends and not up there by himself. He was so nervous. So cute. You even see him wipe his sweaty palm on his pants. Jensen agrees to do a livestream with buddy Jason, with singing! So he's slowly coming to accept it and willing to do it. So cute! Can tell he's nervous too. Yeah, this is a really, REALLY good episode! Definitely one of my favorites. One of the few things I didn't get though was why Dean (and even Sam) were so surprised to find out that Mary was pregnant. I mean, they both know when Dean's birthday is. (Jan. 24th 1979) And they know approximately what time of year it is that they've landed in, if not the exact date, in 1978, so honestly, it's just a matter of simple math. *LOL* The emotional moments in this one really hit all the right notes though. I'm glad you enjoyed it and I look forward to the next one.

great reaction to a fantastic ep D! so much to love about this ep, but like you said, loved the scene where Sam finally gets some measure of closure with his father, even though his father was oblivious in the moment. Loved seeing Anna again, but didn't like that she must've gotten brainwashed and was following the other angel's agenda, as I liked having her an ally of sorts since she exercised a little free will of her own before and chose to fall. really like both the youg John and Mary actors as well. Loved the writing as well as it further emphasized the family struggles (both heavenly and human), and the importance of their family/bloodlines.... just really well done ep in a great season..... a big CTU for you (and the mid analysis baby kick, lol) Keep em coming D!

So many BTTF references in this one. Gotta agree with Dean next to Gremlins Pintos are very ugly cars. That scene with Sam and Young John was so heart breaking and one of my personal favourite scenes in the whole series. John disgusted with the life that Sam’s ‘irresponsible bastard father’ put him through I can only imagine how much John must have hated himself for putting Sam and Dean through hunting at the end. Must feel strange watching a show with a pregnant character with a little one of your own on the way.

John didn't lose his values. Sam thinks John wanted because it fit Sam's hate John agenda and Dean went along but it wasn't revenge not completely. Think it through. Mary, Dean and Sam are in bed when John goes downstairs. Mary screams and he finds her in Sam's room. Mary obviously went to Sam's room because she heard him fussing and interrupted someone who didn't care if he knew there was a intruder but was willing to stoop to murder to cover his identity. John's gotta think what did the intruder want with his 6 month old son, 1 of the last 2 pieces of Mary in the world. The oddity was John seemed more upset over Sam being raised as a hunter a guy he just much then his own wife. HUH??!! You're more emotionally invested in a stranger then your wife. When Sam says he forgave John I wanted to smack Sam. Forgive John for providing half his dna so he's born, rescuing him from a fire, getting him safe from Lucifer and his band of merry men, teaching him right from wrong and right was preferable. Teaching him to have a backbone even if he used it against John, teaching him how to say no and back it up with words, fists and latin if need be. To be able to protect himself and Dean if John couldn't. Sam should beg John for his forgiveness not that he needed to. A parent always forgives.

I think Jared is great when he's low spoken but when he shouts is when I can't take his performance seriously. When he raises his voice he sounds whiny to me.
