This is one of my favorite episodes and has some of the best lines. "You would throw your friends into a meat grinder? And Cas too!" "I'll just wait here then." "That's not funny Dean, the voice says I'm almost out of minutes." "You hoard toilet paper!" "If you don't like reckless, I can use insouciant, maybe." "I just know we're all we got." "We had an appointment." "Don't ever change." And of course the many instances of "I'll come with you" - are you coming? Of course.

"The end" is 2020 prophecy with pandemy and all. 😂 It's one of the best and the most memorable episodes for me. Endverse!Cas is amazing! Once again Misha nailed it! I miss this Supernatural. When it was well written and smart!

Yes! I think they allude to it several times. That whole first scene of them in the future and in the "you'll throw your friends into a meat grinder. Cas too!" scene. I forget the exact dialogue but future Dean says something about me and him what we have is messed up. And future Dean is looking at Cas. Our Dean notices other Dean is looking at Cas and not him and turns and Cas is blurry and comes into focus, reflecting our Dean's knowledge of it and leading to "friends ... And Cas too. " He knows Cas is more than just a friend. What exactly he is is of course up to interpretation. Lol

@@helenwood8482 Future Dean sacrifices everyone - even himself, he knew he couldn't defeat Lucifer - he was going to go kill Sam too. The point of Future Dean was to show how off the rails he is. Present Dean sees this and chooses to not go down that path. No to sacrifice his brother, his friends, and Cas. Seeing what has happened to Cas, the warrior angel to stoned human rattles Dean. All THREE of these things: devoid of morals/feelings Future Dean, Lucifer Sam, and lost human Cas who is still following after all these years, all add up to Dean choosing a different path: Dean chooses to reconnect with Sam. That's the point of this episode. There is always a point in writing and choice of words. And Cas is more than just a friend - the writing points this out - and it's an insult to say otherwise. Based on your viewing/viewpoint of the show you can interpret Cas as a brother to Dean, his best friend, or more - but he is and always will be more than just a friend.

The original script for this episode is out, & during the car scene with endverse Cas & Dean, Cas says that all that he & Dean have is each other. They cut that line out, along with a few other lines. Misha read the original dialogue from this scene (in Cas' voice) on one of his Cameo sessions per request.

I know you say it's an obvious trick by Zach, and it probably is, but since you're well-beyond this episode now you have to admit there are a ton of things that come true later on. Cas losing his power, Sam saying yes, the Croatoan epidemic... hell, if you look closely at the Camp Chitaqua photo you can see bobby in the front row, so he got his legs back. Some details change, like the time difference, but still it's very similar.
