As a miniature and scale painter this is the first product they have put out that I'm actually excited about. This has a lot of useful implications, provided it plays nicely with other materials and applies well - how is the consistency of the pigment on this? Is it chalky at all? It looks like it applies pretty smoothly which is not a trait a lot of white paint has. In the mini painting hobby we are very reliant on a handful of brands and those brands still all have big problems, I am always on the lookout for new white paint!
@SuperRaedizzle3 жыл бұрын
It’ll be great for that use. The only problem would be diluting. When adding water it loses its effect. It’s also very watery which might take a while to build up texture

Under UV light the White2.0 looks uneven and blotchy. Is it possible that your bottle of paint's not fully mixed? Also, could you do a test on a primed surface?
@icecoldpolaroid3 жыл бұрын
It looked more like she just painted uneven and blotchy
@Bobasketches3 жыл бұрын
It could be she just applied it unevenly too? I don’t understand why she tried acrylic paint on thin sketchbook and printer paper tbh. I understand that the white printer paper is common but there’s still different whitenesses to printer paper, I have two different kinds here at home. A smooth, primed wooden panel would have been better, it wouldn’t have absorbed the paint or get wrinkly. Who would paint acrylic paint on paper like that in a real life situation anyway
@BettyAlexandriaPride3 жыл бұрын
Is it possible she couldn't see what she was doing as she was painting? Blacks tend to be more forgiving but when you're trying to paint over essentially the same color, it can get uneven. I do wish she tested under the conditions all of you mentioned as well as on black paper of some sort. Also, acrylic isn't her strong suit, so maybe she wasn't thinking about complimentary tools since she rarely needs to use them. It kind of feels like she pushed herself to do this video and that can impact the quality. It definitely happens to me.
@shaunacorrigan93723 жыл бұрын
I know, I was a bit confused about that one. It seemed like the White2.0 was on the left side for the tests, but when Rae was talking about it under the UV light, she was talking about the one on the right. Maybe she got them mixed up?
@nerdywizard64542 жыл бұрын
I’m terribly sorry for this late comment, but I just wanted to make you aware of something super neat. Under the UV, it’s actually White 2.0 on the left! It’s super interesting. The color white is the result of all waves of light being reflected. So, in this instance, White 2.0 is actually reflecting the UV light, causing it to appear darker than it’s dollar store counterpart. The dollar store paint is the one fluorescing because it actually reflects less light than White 2.0. Science is crazy sometimes

I was a beta tester for this release, and I wondered how many people caught the UV reaction. I was working with their glow pigments and had my blacklight out messing around. Of the three testers, only one of them fluoresced which was really interesting. Also good to know that my Black 3.0 was actually ruined in shipping. It's super thick and chunky, and is almost chalky when it dries.

Hi Sarah, Just wondering if you ever tried Culture Hustle's Stick? I was thinking about getting it and using it with glitter in my coloring books instead of stickles. It say's Stick is The stickiest powder coating potion! Why they call it powder when it is a liquid, I have no idea, but this stuff looks super duper sticky and would make a great adhesive for glitter, I think.
@SarahRenaeClark2 жыл бұрын
@@stellajean3020 it’s not powder- it’s for powder coating. So the stick is the base, then you put your powder coating on top. It’s probably over-kill for glitter in a coloring book, since it’s not cheap. But it is extremely sticky and works great for fine powders. I haven’t tried stickles to compare

I guess in retrospect this result kinda makes sense. The existing white paints we have are already pretty close to the "max" that's achievable for what we're able to produce, and so the quality gap between cheap white paint vs super max bright ultra white paint is smaller than the true darkest darks of black 2.0 vs other existing black paints now. So though it's a bit underwhelming, it makes sense that it's less of a difference I suppose.

I just really love your channel and seeing you draw. Thank you for helping us all get through lockdown! :)

You gave that paint a higher rating then I would have. The cost of that paint paired with the fact that you had to use different lighting to see a significant difference makes this a paint I would not ever buy unless I was doing something that would sit under a black light. Chances of that are very slim. Your hair and nails look great. Have a Merry Christmas!
@myfriendwouldntgivemearawegg3 жыл бұрын
It's not that the paint sucks, it's just the nature of the color white. It is supposed to reflect all the wavelengths of light, so let's say the cheap white paint reflects 90% red light and only 40% blue light, while white 2.0 reflects 90% of both red light and blue light. If you compare both paints under red light, no difference would show up, because both paints reflect 90% of red light, so we would perceive it as the same color. Now, if you compare both paints under blue light, a huge difference would be visible since cheap white reflects only 40% blue light while white 2.0 reflects 90%, so the latter would appear 50% brighter. What this means is that even the brightest white, even brighter than white 2.0 would be pretty comparable to normal white paints if under the correct lighting. So imo, this white is totally doing what it promises, but sadly, it's not as impressive due to its nature.

Idk about anyone else but I would never paint acrylic paint straight on a regular sketchbook or printer paper.. I'd love to see a part 2 if you ever had the time where you test the White 2.0 against black paper, and painted over Black 3.0. How opaque would it be against such a deep paint? Would the highlights just pop or would the cheap-er acrylic come out just fine?

Dropping in kinda late here, but I wanted to mention that if you want to keep your acrylic paints from drying out in the bottle, storing them in a sealed ziplock bag with most of the air removed REALLY helps. Also, cleaning any paint from around the lid or cap so that you can make a tight seal. And, if you go and shake them every couple of months or so, that also really helps Anecdote: I had some Tamiya acrylic paints in a ziplock bag that sat untouched in a drawer that kept for... I think around 10 years? I just needed to stir them well and they were ready to go. Love your videos btw, and hope you're doing better ♥

Hey Rae! Quick question: Super color nerd here... im just curious... what was the brightness rating of your "regular printer paper"? Many people don't realize that printer paper comes in many different levels of brightness, where they do actually measure the light wavelengths, so white paper has a brightness rating of generally 90-100, with the higher the number, the more expensive the ream of paper... that's why many times when you go to an office supply store the prices vary so much, like $4 vs $20+ for 1 single pack of paper... so the results of your paper test are more meaningful if I know the paper brightness, the test control number, if you will..... sorry for being such a nerd... I love your tests and I do rely on a lot of your reviews when making my art supply purchases... I hope you have a wonderful holiday! And I'm looking forward to your future videos!! ❤❤❤🎨🖼❤❤❤

I‘m glad I‘m not the only one who thought about that. The store I work at sells different kinds of printer paper and there‘s the brightness level on all of them. The lowest we sell is at about 145 and the highest at 180… that‘s in germany, we might have different numbers but there‘s definitely a HUGE difference between them.
