Thank you for speaking out about haters. I wrote to Davuo asking about cheap properties on his KZbin channel and people were so negative in their comments to me. People have told me why do I want to have a place there in Italy if I only use it a few times a year. I started to doubt if it was a good idea being that there is covid. But It’s always been my dream and I am not going to listen to all the nay sayers. We have to be able to travel safely at some point. Thank you for being so positive. Gosh Lisa! I am sorry you ran into that. I had some experience when I was writing for Lifehack.org. I had some really viral articles and the hate that came in was insane! Unfortunately writing for them I could not delete comments so I was affected by them. Pete and I have a strict policy on that. We do not allow any nastiness here to poison these waters. We all work hard to create a great group and one nasty hater can destroy it. I am glad you are not listening to them. Oh and for the first many years Pete and I were only there a few weeks a year. I know MANY people who do that and it works great for them.

Hi Marcela, the closest airport is Lamezia Terme but it only services local flights. If you are traveling from outside the EU I would recommend you fly into Rome.

You do need to be able to show a bank account or possibly IRA or something with 31,000 Euros for and individual and 38,000 Euros for a couple. You also need to show this amount as a yearly passive income such as social security or a pension, rental income or the like, If you have questions on this we recommend Studio Legale Metta. Hi Mario! As far as red tape goes, It is not difficult but there are steps and if you have the right person guiding you, it can be relatively easy. We recommend Nic Metta at Studio Legale Metta as he has all of this figured out. Regarding taxes, Nic has many strategies for that as well.

Hi! Jure sanguini is kind of straightforward in Italy. The one thing I know it's important is that women only transmit citizenship to their children who were born Jan 01 1948 and after. Those born 1947 and before can't have it through their mother's. What questions do you have regarding this topic?

Technically I am the last generation that qualifies for j-sang in my family (if I don’t sort it out in my life time my kids won’t be able to acquire it ). I am looking for advice from people that have been through the process & could share tips on : acquiring ancestral documents from Italy (while physically being in The states) also any things to avoid or do BEFORE communicating (submitting a filing) with the immigration department in Italy to prevent the process being prolonged. Chris, I appreciate you so much! You are keeping the dream alive in me! Been wanting to move to Italy for decades and have come here nearly every year at least once. (Last year 5 times!) Used to drive though Calabria to Sicily in the 70's and 80's but too scared to after I got divorced. Last year I finally did it again (alone) and wow! It's even better and more beautiful than I remember. The people of Calabria are amazing and it's like the Italy of my memories. Real, unpolished and full of loving people. is the Digital nomad visa on the horizon? im 56 and am practicing law via zoom for over a year now near Michiana/Chicago. covid has shown me all sorts of opportunities now. I also have a side business in credit repair. Im thinking of coming over to see places after watching the Stanley Tucci Netflix series. I can also teach business English or English to lawyers as well. This video was wonderful about inspiration not just in moving to Italy.

I want to retire there, or at least I thought I did. I started watching your KZbin channel and am now thinking Calabria. What do you think the differences are? Hi Jim! I think from what I have seen is that price wise they are comparable with Sicily being perhaps slightly less in the inland areas. There are tons of properties available in both areas. If you are going to start a BNB I suggest sticking to a place where tourists already go. Our stretch of Calabria completely packs out every Summer. Email me at [e-mail]. Hi! What the news is calling "banning" is really just Italy looking at America as a whole and deciding when it is safe to let people in from America. America is a huge place and they cannot let in certain states separately so they are looking at the worst places and deciding based on when they cool down. That is my take on it. We may have a slightly longer wait but we will not be banned. Italy has been trying to entice American retirees there for years so banning us will not occur.

So true! I was taking a course in sales funnels and one of the presenters told a story about going to his dad needing money. His dad told him that he really wanted to give him money and that would be easy but that this guy would never find the solution that his dad knew he would find if he just gave him the money. I thought that was intensely smart.
