This is a neat app, kind of like seeing AI (which I mainly use). I just love how many app developers are creating helpful apps for us visually impaired/blind people. I might have to check this one out. Awesome video once again!

I have tried this app many times for when I go shopping. The only thing I actually might use this app for is the reading function as that seems to be pretty spot on. But otherwise I'd look at getting Lookout by Google. Way more accurate.

Hi Sam.Would you please someday do a quick comparison video between Supersense and envision apps and give your take on which app is better. I would love to see that video. Anyway, great work you're doing for us blind folk.

I tried it out awhile back (ios version (no explore)), but I didn't like the subscription model, since other apps did similar things for free and I already bought voice dream reader/scanner. Had it been a one time purchase, I may have considered keeping it.

I got Supersense after watching this video and have tried to use it many times since. I signed up for the monthly subscription. I was never able to get it to work as demo'd here. I primarily wanted to use it to read forms that I have to read and then sign, but it's text recognition is horrific if there is very much to read.

7:10 Will it scans and read a $2.00 dollar bill? I did I download the app on Android? I have tried the app out and am not very impressed? I am legally blind and use a power chair. Using a white cane is not an option and I can see some things but not everything. Curb cuts and edges of curbs or drop-offs are one thing that I can one moment see and other moments in the same conditions cannot see? It would be nice to have an app or a feature where the app could act like both a white cane and a guide dog? This would be nice if you could program the app so it could see where a curb cut is and then you could name the camera or scan to see if et to cross? If you could save certain locations the app could let you know that you are appreciation that area and you can avoid bumps or bad areas or know to go around? The other thing is that when it scans things in a room it really can't even detect or get certain things right? I pointed it at my C-PAP machine e and it called it a car??? It would be nice to have a full version for one month free just to get used to using the app and make sure it would work for you? When I scanned money it said a denomination of money in rupees? 8:06 When I tried this feature in the scan feature it would say "scan to identify" and when I put it over certain items it would just start saying what I was looking at and other things it would not know what it was? It called my TV the fridge and my shelf a fridge? If you could save items in the app so it would remember them? For example, if you were to see a picture it would be nice if it did an Internet search to see if it could identify the picture and let you know what the picture is and if and where it has been on the web or who or where it was taken at as well if you scan one picture and look at other pictures it could identify if the same people are in other pictures? 8:33 It would nice if you could choose to hide the screen so if you are using certain features other people would not think that you are trying to film them? As well it would be nice to have the ability to choose which camera you want to use? There may be times where you may need to let it see your face and you may need it to take pic/vid? As well it would be nice to make it so you can train the app to detect how close you are to an object or if you are making it trou a door or alert that you are going to hit the door? 14:17 It would be nice if you could touch a specific spot on the screen and it would zone into that exact spot and let you know what is right where your finger is at on the screen? What you pointed at had many different items and this would allow you to pinpoint and identify it? 14:42 It would be nice if you could have it read the color or describe what the current looks like etc? 16:49 I tried this feature and even if there was one step or many steps it didn't even detect them? This could be bad because you could trip over them or step off a step that you couldn't see? Where I use a wheelchair it would be nice if this app could help a person find a ramp and let you know how steep and angle the ramp is at and if it is an ADA-approved angle? 17:49 It would be nice if it would let you know if the door is open or closed and where the handle or knob is located? 18:34 I did like the app for a little bit but I don't believe that it would get much use and maybe something that may work here and there and if I was totally blind I would feel lost using this app?

Here are a couple of suggestions for the writers of the app. The ability to record your own information if the barcode reader doesn’t recognise something. That would be great. And the ability to recognise Aussie currency. That one always seems to be missed. Otherwise it looks pretty good. Cheers!
@kimstanley98504 жыл бұрын
Sam, good video content as always. What I noticed when you pointed to a door, was that if the door was closed, it recognized it. However, if the door was open, it did not recognize it. Perhaps it is the difference between an open door, which may be considered a doorway; and a closed door, which it recognized as a door. Overall, I think the app will be very helpful and will improve over time. Thanks again for this video. I hope you and your family are doing well and staying safe.

Q Great demo of this app Sam. I really like the PDF translating function. I am not very technologically savvy but accessing PDFs has always been a big issueThis app is also able to verbally tell the user things in the environment that my guide dog is trained to show me. She cannot speak however but she gets a lot of compliments and attention. I would think however, that if you are using this app in public, you would get a lot of positive attention as well. Thanks for the review! Take care, Beverly

Hi Beverly, It’s three years since you wrote your comment, so I hope you read this. I have a set of Bluetooth headphones which are bone conduction. They don’t cover your ears so you can hear what’s going on around you and yet hear from the headphones. So you would be able to hear what the iPhone says, but no one else would. Just thought I would share that. 19:03

This is really similar to Sullivan+ which i have on my Android (IOS version may be available). As far as i can tell Sullivan+ is free, and also has a read PDF feature. Sam, could you do a video comparing IOS and Android accessibility options? I'm thinking of changing to IOS, but with lockdown i have no way of testing a phone.
@theblindlife4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for telling me about that app. I recently did a video demonstrating all of the voice accessibility options on iOS. Voiceover, etc. it wasn’t exactly a comparison but you could watch the iOS video and the android video and compare them.

It looks like it's a good app for visually impaired and blind people but I was just wondering if you're at a mall or a food court I have problems trying to find where the bathroom is located and where is at? Would it show you where a bathroom is at and a mall or a food court
@theblindlife4 жыл бұрын
If you were to scan around the area, I don’t think it would tell you where the bathroom was. However, once you were in the restroom, it could tell you where the different items such as the sink, toilet, trashcan, etc., were.

Hi Blind Life, Does this Supersense application still have a free week subscription for its premium version, or did that expire last year. It's hard to find support for this App from the developer... If my google playstore is not letting me download the supersense application, is there a way around this? I asked for an APK file from the developer but no response....
@theblindlife4 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure if they are offering the one week free. I purchased a one-year license and I’m still in that right now. Have you done a Google search for the a PK? I’ve had success doing that with other apps.

Nice app, but that subscription seems a bit much. I totally understand they have to make money to support the app. I've found that google lookout is great at reading money, and Envision AI is pretty good at recognizing text, so for me, I don't really need another app. I'm surprised that explore feature is free, that seems like it'd be the most useful part of the app, I don't see other apps recognizing scenes that well, and using it to find specific things could be handy. Still I'm happy to see more developers making useful accessible apps.
