I grew up watching the great West Indian team of the 80's, then seeing Australia be blessed with some fantastic sides / players and i believe I may never see a team of talented players, in the one side like that again in my lifetime. Somewhere along the way, the culture of the Australian cricket side diminished. I think, Cricket Australia wanted this current side to be good as the previous Australian teams (Allan Border/Mark Taylor/Steve Waugh era) and focused on winning at all costs rather than playing cricket in the way it should be played. I too as an Australia, was starting to dislike the culture. I was deeply hurt and embarrassed by what actions those 2 men did, and for Steve Smith for not standing up, being a true captain, a being a real leader. I was not alone in these feelings as you can see by this documentary all of Australia were hurt and angry with what they did. I like how the 3 players punishments were harsh by Cricket Australia. But I don't feel lifetime bans (as mentioned by some people) were warranted or justified considering how many ball tampering incidents I have see in all my years of watching cricket and the punishment being handed down to those players. This was a great documentary, although, as an Australian, it was hard to watch. I am, however, glad these guys were caught. Maybe, just maybe, this can be the thing that changes the Australian culture in the way cricket as it should be played. If they lose they lose, if they win, they win. As long as they play the game honestly and in the spirit of the game, that's all that counts (winning would be nice though). Australia, based on the next test, is already trying to fix this toxic culture. I hope this continues. I hope everyone from all sports can look at this as an example and see that there is no room in sports for cheating. The impacts it makes to fellow players, their families and most importantly the fans. I hope these 3 players learn from their mistake and come back, bigger, better and show us they can play this game in a way it should be played. Well done South Africa for a well deserved series win. Well done SuperSport for a great documentary. Thank you or taking the time to ready my comments.

Dont you think it all started under the captaincy of Ricky Ponting?
@eoinociarain79865 жыл бұрын
@@mickeymouse3807 I dont agree, Ponting had a play to win mentality and so did Steve Waugh. You need a lot of grit and attitude to be the best at anything, Faf DuPlessis just like Graeme Smith are hard nuts. I like thair take no prisoners attitude in the game. Have a look at New Zealand who try to be the nice guys and be too fair. Nice guys do finish last, they should have been pissed at how the World Cup was stolen from them. Do you think the English would have reacted as the Kiwis did? Not a chance in hell. You need to find a balance and I think our toxic culture had gone too far and crossed the line, they seem much better now but will still play to win as they should.

J Smith it went from the Australian team of the 2005 ashes, who played the game hard but fair as we saw in that great series ( in fact I think that was what made it probably the greatest test series ever, the spirit in which it was played), to the ball tampering and insults crap shown in this series.
@delailama7365 жыл бұрын
@@mrkipling2201 Yeah, I think the culture went very bad under Clarke's captaincy. I have a feeling that it has something to do with players in the team not always maintaining the form to keep their spot in the team. The Australian sledging is gross. I really hate that our team are such entitled pricks.

This is a great production! Cricket definitely needs more films like this. I also think SA does not get as much media coverage as the big three (AUS, ENG, IND). Yes, the big three are great sides but I think SA has always been as strong as those sides (in Tests) over a long period of time. But their rivalry with the big three sides is not given enough nice film productions and media spice like the Ashes or Border-Gavaskar series etc. ENG, AUS and IND also have great broadcasters (Nasser Hussein, Michael Atherton, Harsha Bhogle etc.) they are always discussing the rivalries and build up to the series with the big three for Ashes and Border-Gavaskar series but SA is not really doing this on the same level. It is sad...

New Zealand never get the props, consecutive 50 over finals, the second one was never lost (the umpires mucked up and should have never gone to a super over) t20 final and world test champions, thrashing India with everything stacked against them. While I was appalled as an Aussie by what occurred here, in a way I’m kind of glad that it did because it was only going to take something like this for the team to finally be held to account for their behaviour. It was getting to the point that I was starting not to like watching cricket because of all the bullshit. Great documentary by the way.

I remember the camera zooming in on David Warners hands while fielding in slips just before they caught the Bancroft sandpaper footage. Almost every one of his fingers on both hands were heavily bandaged and commentators were questioning why. At that time, Aussies were getting old ball to reverse swing when no other team could. It seemed they suspected something dodgy was going on. The rest is history.
@christopherholman91745 жыл бұрын
Absolutely no way the bowlers didn’t know about this and they got away Scott free. Bowlers pay so much attention to the ball in International cricket and if they didn’t say anything they are just as guilty as Bancroft, Smith and Warner. Also find it funny that since this series the amount of reverse swing they get as almost disappeared. Series vs Pakistan in UAE was hardly any or very rough, dry and abrasive pitches.

Since they have come back after the ban, Smith and Warner are totally different. Smith has become a run machine but also shows good sportsmanship even during the game. Applauding great deliveries from people like Jack Leach. While Warner seems to have decided to give his wicket to Stuart Broad in the first over every game.
