I loved the SRX as it didn’t take itself too serious. It was meant to be a racing series meant for racers by racers which in turn made it a Helluva lot better for fans as you got to see more personality from drivers away from their series whether it be Drag racing, nascar, Indycar or dirt. No one was like “ I want to be a SRX champion “ aspirations but rather “ we’re just here to have fun”.

Evernham did admit on DJD that his intentions were to call this IROC, but all parties didn't agree, and licensing was going to be an issue. So the name became SRX. I was fortunate enough to go to an SRX race at Pensacola in 2022, in which Helio Castroneves took the win, beating out the short track experienced drivers in the field.

@jacekatalakis83169 ай бұрын
To me it felt like it went from getting a local guy or gal in, a wide variety of drivers from a lot of series (a la IROC in the 80s< to entirely NASCAR centric which killed the appeal of it for me. I was able at least to catch the highlights of the first season, Danica wasn't awful in the booth and showed quite a bit of potential as an announcer. The issue I feel is the series went from a series that anyone could run in if you had the desire to, so you had dirt vs drag vs Indy vs sportscar guys, to just another series with the same NASCAR names as a NASCAR weekend
@naparacingfan92759 ай бұрын
The problems SRX had wete lack of promotion with both networks but especially ESPN, move to Thursday Night at 9pm on cable, making it a race with mostly just NASCAR stars, removing the local hero, and lastly not getting household names like Dale Jr and Jeff Gorodn. At least JRM in Xfinity issuing short track drivers an opportunity.

I still believe Paul Tracy being involved from the start was one of the catalysts to the 2024 season being cancelled. All the damage (& injuries) that Paul caused became too much for them. There were a few other things that were a detrimental factor that maybe I could do a Top 5 or Top 10 Countdown on, but Paul Tracy more than anything was the biggest factor to me. I'm hopeful for a 2025 return to give them time to get things right... just as long Paul Tracy is *not* involved.

I was excited for it. They should have tried to schedule near cup tracks when they raced. It would have been like an appetizer. I didn't like that there were guys near their prime racing against guys that havent raced much in 30 years. The marketing was non existent. I found myself forgetting about it until after it happened. Loved hearing Allen Bestwick. I wish they would have kept the local guy. I thought that was unique. After a while it turned into "which modern day cup driver will win" series. I wanted it to succeed but it just didn't hit the mark. I rarely found myself getting excited about the racing. Sure there were some great moments but honestly the series just didn't seem important. IROC was completely. Seemed like winning and IROC race meant more to the driver

You know Danny something you guys made me think about the other day on the nwp applies directly to this video. Y'all were talking about how if Ray everingham stayed with Jeff Gordon he would have been a seven-time champion which is no doubt 100 percent agree with you he would have been seven times before 2004. But also Ray everingham then left and went and started his own team right well remember when Kasey kahne burst on the seen his team was still new. And they were out there doing great things and then what did he do he left that team and it went to hell. Same as when he left Jeff Gordon he won one more title and never won another one. He then starts the SRX and then he leaves and look flop. Seems like whatever Ray starts or is a part of does great and then he's like oh I've had enough of this and then it flops. And he is the leading factor in each scenario.

Most advertising I saw was on social media, yet the only way to watch was on cable tv. Advertising on platforms that younger audiences use, while broadcasting on a medium younger people don't care to get. Locking broadcasting behind a television broadcasting does nothing to expand viewer base. If they tried to get their series as part of a streaming subscription, I think they could have done better. If you don't advertise where it counts, you won't get the word of mouth that counts.
