I remember this storm vividly. I was living in Bethlehem, PA but was with my dad for the weekend in Whitehall, PA. I was snowtubing down our hilly street and not 1 car tried to come up. It was also the first time I've heard Thundersnow. I was louder than any thunder I've ever heard in a storm. I was in 8th grade and we were off from school for the week because of how much snow we had.

Ha, same here man.I was in my freshman year at Liberty. I remember it was the first time for a snow storm we battened down the hatches and were cooking pots of soup just in case. I grew up on the westside and the 11th ave hill by the old folks home was getting a lot of use. I remember walking around with friends and some of the fresh snow that had not even been plowed was drifted over cars and we were walking over them smh.

When I watch these playbacks after awhile, I feel like its the current weather. Lol. These videos make me young again. I was 12 when this happened and remember it like last week. Most memorable storm I'm sure I'll ever see. Only 3 tornadoes I've been in had stronger winds. One in NJ in 2005 and two in SC in 2011 and 2020. I heard from a weather station in Central NJ where I was that there were reported winds between 100-125mph. Never saw leafless trees flatten so much.

I am from Western PA near Pittsburgh and man I remember this storm very well we got over 2 feet of snow and I was 8 years old at the time and in 2nd grade and we missed 13 days of school because of it. Also Pittsburgh had its annual St Patrick's day parade right in the middle of the storm. Talk about crazy.

great presentation on the recorder's part, the intermittent cuts on the tape are a nice touch. this could be an abstract documentary

That observation at PHL during the NWS Winter Storm scroll was probably the only time the airport ever had Thunder Sleet and it was coming down so hard the visibility was under a quarter of mile. And meanwhile the scroll is telling the Philadelphia area to prepare for 50 to 70 mph sustained winds with gusts exceeding hurricane force. Normally a storm of that track would be a snow to rain deal that wouldn’t bring that much snow but that was just how powerful the storm was that Philly got around a foot and even more north and west of the city before the sleet and rain came in.

I was 18 and came home late that Friday night from a friend's just as the snow was starting (Maryland). I am 99% sure I was watching TWC at the time you are recording.

I live in Graceville, Florida, a little town in northwest Florida, just three miles south of the Florida/Alabama State Line. I remember that storm very well. I had a large, dwarf azalea just outside the northeast corner of my house. That azalea was about seven feet tall. It was in full bloom. A dwarf azalea has small leaves and small blooms. It was in full bloom. That blizzard killed it. It had light pink blooms. It was beautiful. That blizzard killed it.

46:09 winds 50mph to 70mph with gusts near hurricane force. That was an unforgettable storm, The Storm of the Century. When was the last time you heard that in the weather? Never (Only when Sandy, but Sandy was a hurricane, but Superstorm '93 was a nor'easter.) When theres a nor'easter, theres winds of 25 to 35 gusts up to 50. And if is a powerful nor'easter, gusts up to 60. But Superstorm '93 was 50mph to 70mph gusts to near hurricane force!! It was the strongest storm I have ever experienced here in NJ. I remember I was a kid and it was like a hurricane. The snow here was not too much of an issue, only 11 inches of snow; it was the winds!

Was living in Lewiston, ME at the time and remember this storm quite well due to the media coverage. We were expecting the worst with power outages, we had some thundersnow, but it wasn't really bad for us, probably because we're quite used to it (and our house having a sauna, fireplace, and hot tub to stay warm :). Ice Storm '98 however, that was a bad one.
