Love this topic. I transitioned into Xero shoes a couple years ago and never looked back. The first couple months I noticed some weird aches and pains from muscles, ligaments, and tendons that were being reactivated. Now I feel much more connected to the ground all day and especially in the gym.

I've been wearing vivio barefoots to the gym for about 3 months now. Before that I wore broken ass Nike Janikowski skate shoes that I took the insoles out of. The side were so worn down it let my foot expand out more, so they were essentially barefoot shoes as well. I can definitely attest to the benefits of wearing these things. Your feet will get bigger/stronger and you will overall feel more athletic/balanced. But it does suck because I love sneakers. I have an obscene amount of sneakers that I like to wear for fits and "drip", but all my shoes are tighter now because of how my feet grew. It's physical painful to wear some shoes for longer periods of time, but fuck it I still do it from time to time because I like sneaker fashion so much.

Guys, Vivos are nice but are ridiculously expensive! For those whose pockets aren't that deep you can try: -xero shoes - Groundies (best quality lowest price IMO) - feelgrounds And there's tons of euro brands like belenka that are also great but if you are in the US the hustle of having them shipped from places like Slovakia may not be worth it 😅

We do have things like Nortorious lift and Vibram five fingers but I wanted something for day to day wear before I make a big investment to get vivos or something of that sort. I figured that a more solid midsole may be better than the cushioned one because my feet gets more fatigued on them or are they worse?

I'm a bit confused by Graham Tuttle. He says a lot of things that also sound great, but also has a lot of wrong information about shoes. Showing a Trail (Nike Trail running shoe) and a weightlifting shoe and talking about walking shoes. Stop using running and weightlifting shoes for normal day to day stuff. They are stiff, or tall, have specific drop or offset for specific reasons, that dont' make em good for walking. They are specialised for running and even tarmac running for long distances. It doesn't make em good for standing or walking slow. Yes, some have a tall stack, but that is because they are meant for long distances.

@achilles872
@achilles872 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly? forget the orthotics. I've been wearing orthotics for about 9 years because ofy flat feet. A few weeks ago, I decided to try out more minimal footwear (I have a pair of sketchers go bionic, not barefoot by any means, but flat, pretty hard and quite flexible) and between using those and some exercises (tib raises and soemthing which idk what to call but it's best described as trying to pry open a crack in the floor with your big toes), I have relatively healthy arches. All in less than a month.

This is incorrect information, humans never walked on concrete surfaces, asphalt, and other hard surfaces prior to this era we are currently living in. When everyone was walking on dirt where you could feel the arch of your foot, ball of your foot and big toe. This would be correct. You need shoes that help your brain become aware of where your foot is in space. Vivo barefoot and other barefoot shoes do not accomplish this task.
@achilles872
@achilles872 2 жыл бұрын
They absolutely do. Thin soled shoes that aren't cushioned definitely help your perception of where your feet are. Haven't stubbed by toe ever since I made the swap. Also you're completely wrong about humans never having walked on hard surfaces before. Have you ever walked on sun baked dirt? It's rock solid. Not level or uniform, but it's very very hard.
