First Drive in the 2024 Mustang Dark Horse! ft. Victor from Ford

The 2024 Ford Dark Horse Mustang is one of the most anticipated new sports cars this year! Here is an exclusive first drive with Victor from Ford who worked on the Dark Horse project and was happy to share some insight into this beast! This monster takes bits from the old GT350 and GT500, featuring option alcarbon fiber wheels, Magne ride dampers with 19in wheels standard in P Zero rubber, a handling package with P Zero Trofeo RS rubber, stiffer springs, larger sway bars, and a gurney flap wing. ⠀

🏁 @Alllcarnews Spec Sheet: Under the hood is a 5.0L Coyote V8 with a new dual air intake box and dual throttle body. It is officially making 500HP and 418 lb-ft of torque thanks to forged internals from the 5.2L predator V8. (And a 7,500 RPM Redline) It is paired with a 6 speed tremor gearbox with a titanium shift knob. You also can get the 10 speed auto. The regular GT makes 480-486HP. 🏁

It also is offered in an exclusive Blue Ember paint. Can't forget it features a remote engine rev system. ( for fun of course)

The long digital screen looks odd and will take some adjusting. Overall the car looks good and it's true to what a mustang is. A naturally aspirated engine is a huge plus in these days of EVs and turbos etc.

The Dark Horse has great styling but as a car enthusiast it doesn’t have that special factor like a Shelby GT350R to factor the high price and markups. The interior is a little too minimalistic and doesn’t really have Mustang styling queues in my option.

Right now I am looking for a pristine grabber blue 2014 GT500 with really low miles in stock form or a blue GT350. @@cocacola3269 the 5.4L 550HP is better than the 5.8L 662HP? I almost bought a 2012 GT500 today. It is Kona Blue with Red Stripes with only 19,000 miles. The red stripes on the seats is gorgeous. For the money they were asking it didn’t even have the Navi big screen entertainment system. I did pass on it. I am not settling.

I love that interior. The whole retro look was kool in 2005 to 2020 I think we can move on now and have something more contemporary. I owned a 2007 and a 2015 GT loved both cars to death. Have a Ford Edge now and a Mazda I think it’s time to sell my Mazda for one of these. Still has the best stock exhaust out there.

It's not that it has screens. It's the design. IT SUCKS. If I want a Tesla, I will buy a Tesla. This is just lazy design. They could have integrated screens into a proper mustang styled dash. Porsche has done it right. 911s have an all digital dash but it has been integrate nicely into the classic dash style. You know instantly that you are looking at a 911 when you see it. This interior is a HUGE miss.

there is a lot wrong with your comment. it’s not weaker nor is it slower than the GT350. you have to remember the voodoo v8 had LOTS of issues which is why many traded them in. this engineer from ford i was with had one and traded it in for the Mach 1… which is just as fun minus the screaming redline and endless oil and other problems. -25 Hp is nothing in comparison to the MASSIVLY improved interior, general quality and so on. The S650 dark horse also has the tremec, has Gt500/350 learnings applied to the updated 5.0… it’s a monster and theres nothing wrong with it… also why complain when it’s the only pony car left… the camaro and challenger are both dead. Need a reality check sir.

Good car but too impractical. What I mean by that is a lot of people can’t afford new but if you’re paying north of 40k, which is becoming the average price of cars these days then might as well get something more efficient with 4 doors and decent trunk space. I bought a 2023 Camry XSE V6. It has the balance of practicality, performance, looks, reliability, and resale value. MSRP was 39k. I can’t spend almost 50k after tax on a base GT stang with useless back seats.

Practicality is subjective though. I have 2 kids and had two Mustangs and never thought twice about it. It's fun to drive and use it as a daily. My choice to get them in and out of their car seats, take to the grocery and I have no complaints. Just depends on what you want and obviously also what you can afford. I've also had 2 camrys years ago. Great cars. But can't top the feeling, driveability and fun of my mustangs.

Impractical???? The Mustang is one of the most practical daily drivers you can buy if you want a sports car. It has a useable trunk, great comfort, and gets good mpg for how powerful it is. Also, visibility in the Mustang is excellent compared to some of the competition.
